  1. The final piece of the Who Ruled the 80s trilogy... winners from all 3 polls to face off later in the ultimate 80s showdown!
  2. For me, it was between the new guys, Finland (Brother Firetribe), and the seasoned pros, Denmark (Pretty Maids). I had to go with Denmark; their goalkeeping and backline is always solid (drums and bass) and their midefield (guitar) and forward (Ronnie) is always phenomenal! LOVE the footie theme!
  3. The more I think about this, if I were to answer this poll today, I would probably pick Survivor... lol, but those 4 Journey releases, wow... it's a close call... VERY close.
  4. Loving all the responses! Yeah, I think at one point I had over 200 band names in front of me in a Notepad file... I may have accidentally omitted some obvious choices here and there (they all started bleeding together), BUT, they WILL pop up later on. ;-) In all honesty, the only choice I REALLY had to think about was the AOR section; SOOOOO much good shit there it was really hard to choose.... I mean look at some of the releases... Foreigner: 4, Agent Provacateur, Inside Information Jefferson Starship/Starship: Modern Times, Winds of Change, Nuclear Furniture, Knee Deep in the Hoopla, No Protection, Love Among the Cannibals (Damn, that's an impressive 80s discography!) Journey: Departure, Escape, Frontiers, Raised On Radio (classics!) Queen: The Game, Flash Gordon Soundtrack, Hot Space, The Works, A Kind of Magic, The Miracle REO Speedwagon: Hi Infidelity, Good Trouble, Wheels Are Turnin', Life As We Know It Rick Springfield: Working Class Dog, Success Hasn't Spoiled Me Yet, Living in Oz, Hard to Hold Soundtrack, Tao, Rock of Life Survivor: Premonition, Eye of the Tiger, Caught in the Game, Vital Signs, When Seconds Count, Too Hot to Sleep (Holy crap what a hot streak they had!) Toto: Turn Back, Toto IV, Isolation, Fahrenheit, The Seventh One Geez, it was truly a wonderful time to be alive music wise!
  5. Pick who you think was the best from each grouping... eventually there will be a final poll where all the winners face off. The main criteria I used to include these bands was... 1. Had to have at least TWO studio releases in the 80s (this is why bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd, Winger, Warant, Danger Danger, etc... will be omitted) 2. People outside of Heavy Harmonies have to have at least a chance of knowing who the band is...
  6. Simply a matter of tastes; I like Led Zeppelin, but I love Dokken, and would choose to listen to them anytime over Zep, regardless of how influential/important Zep were to music history.
  7. Stumbled across this by complete accident earlier, and am enjoying the hell out of it!
  8. Listening to this one while working on the main site this afternoon; good stuff! A more metallic version of what Jaded Heart were doing before Bormann left back in the 00s...
  9. Second single and title track, "Hellbound" Love it! Total tribute to AC/DC
  10. Listening to this one in the car today... pretty damn good. There is some Tesla influence, which is to be expected, but overall, just good, solid hard rock. "Rise Up" and "KSA" are faves...
  11. Ooh, that's a good one; I actually think it may be my favorite from them yet! I Am Your Man, Broken Dreams, Long Distance Love Affair, and Chasing Rainbows are faves.
  12. I’ve got that Myles Kennedy in order! 👍
  13. The following was posted on the Megadeth Facebook page earlier today: More of the story at: https://ultimateclassicrock.com/megadeth-fire-dave-ellefson/ Megadeth have officially parted ways with bassist Dave Ellefson following the leak of sexually graphic exchanges between Ellefson and a female fan. “We are informing our fans that David Ellefson is no longer playing with Megadeth and that we are officially parting ways with him," band leader Dave Mustaine wrote in a statement shared on social media Monday. "We do not take this decision lightly.” “While we do not know every detail of what occurred, with an already strained relationship, what has already been revealed now is enough to make working together impossible moving forward,” Mustaine continued. “We look forward to seeing our fans on the road this summer, and we cannot wait to share our brand new music with the world. It is almost complete.” Earlier this month, sexually explicit messages and video footage involving Ellefson and a woman who is not his wife were leaked online. The female’s identity was not revealed, but she was rumored to be underage, leading to accusations of grooming against the 56-year-old Ellefson. Ellefson denied the allegations and released a statement in which he referred to the leaked exchanges as “private, adult interactions that were taken out of context and manipulated to inflict maximum damage to my reputation my career and family." The bassist paired his statement with a post that appeared to be from the woman involved in the exchange, who claimed that she “was the one to initiate” the video calls and “was always a consenting adult” when they took place. She added that she was “not a victim, and I have not been groomed in the slightest.” "We are aware of the recent statements regarding David Ellefson and are watching developments closely,” Megadeth said in a statement immediately following the leaks. "As it relates to creativity and business, we are all familiar with one another. However, there are clearly aspects of David's private life that he has kept to himself. As this situation unfolds, it is important that all voices be heard clearly and respectfully. We look forward to the truth coming to light." Ellefson cofounded Megadeth with Mustaine in 1983 and spent the second-longest amount of time in the band behind Mustaine. His first tenure lasted from 1983 to 2002, when Mustaine disbanded the group. Ellefson rejoined the band in 2010 and has played on all subsequent Megadeth albums. Megadeth will have to fill Ellefson’s position quickly, as they are set to embark on their rescheduled Metal Tour of the Year in August. Lamb of God will co-headline the trek, with support from Trivium and In Flames. Former Lamb of God drummer Chris Adler played on Megadeth’s last album, 2016’s Dystopia. The band is reportedly nearly finished with its next LP, tentatively titled The Sick, the Dying … and the Dead!
  14. A few additions to my previous post... Robin McAuley - Standing on the Edge (not as good as last year's Black Swan release, but still VERY enjoyable!) Damon Johnson & the Get Ready - BattLessons Todd Michael Hall - Sonic Healing W.E.T. - Retransmission Good year so far
