  1. I think, even though I could Google I suspect for accuracy, but I think they were like a Georgia or Florida as the "FA" would imply. Great debut though. And no I don't hate Geoff (opposite actually), just never could wrap my head around the praise for that Vain release. Just like that Blackboard Jungle, they both fall flat for me... Peter, never did hear those Sea Hag tunes you referenced, gonna have to do some digging. Had a chance to see them in Berkley , Ca back in the late 80's but I was under aged and could not get in the club. Some for when Salty Dog played in Seattle, I was 20 I think and missed that show too. Not so "unknown" but I did like that debut from Roxy Blue (probably not from LA). And the S/T from the Bullet Boys was nice, but that one obviously got a lot of recognition. Always loved Lizzy Borden as well, thought they were way better than most the bands that got way big. At least they made a boatload of records and I did get to see Lizzy a few years back in a very small venue for a very small crowd and he was amazing. I believe it is Sweet Fuck All but I could be wrong. I always assumed that is what they meant by it. I know Blackfish weren't in LA but I thought their debut should have blown up and made them stars. Circle of Soul were from Cali. Despite two brilliant albums they went nowhere.
  2. I'd need to hear more before passing judgment. I'm not completely put off by the teasers but it certainly isn't blowing my mind either. Corabi has never topped The Scream's debut imo.
  3. I don't expect nor do I need a vocalist to hit every note like they did in their heyday. I'm hitting a rock show to have a good time. If the band is tight and the singer is giving it all he's got, they'll get their point across. I've seen plenty of concerts and the only one I can recall walking out of dissappointed was Gramm in Foreigner at an outdoor festival just before his bout with cancer. Melodies were indecipherable and he struggled mightily before having Jones sing two songs.
  4. Really looking forward to this one. Not worried about this one being country at all. It's on Frontiers, Laine has Darkhorse covering that genre and as Geoff pointed out Ravel and Marchello's melodic rock roots are too deep. Cover is ridiculous unless they are doing it tongue in cheek. Concept is fine but the execution is lame. Looks like they got outfitted at an old time western kiosk at a country fair. And what's up with Danger Danger? I thought Ravel stated it was just too labour intensive to put out a cd and yet one half of D2 are here applying their talents to this release. Westie and Ted too busy?
  5. Apparently, Sebastian Bach is simply one of the most irritating, prima donna, adult ADHD inflicted man-children ever to set foot on God's green earth, and the Skid Row guys just don't want to put up with his shit ever again. Supposedly they've received some lucrative reunion offers over the years but they won't even entertain the possibility. You almost have to admire their resolve. You gotta REALLY hate somebody to keep turning down that kind of cash. Freddy has it bang on. On one hand I admire the Skids for not letting dollar signs compromise their ethics but I would also think that if money isn't a concern, how 'bout simply getting together for those people who made Skid Row what they are/were; us the fans. One day it will be too late.
  6. The film is hysterically funny. Loved it. Top 3 favorite comic book movies for me.
  7. Totally agree on the Eating Crow material. Based on the few clips in the doc, I would love to hear more.
  8. Thanks for posting. I've been waiting for this to come out forever. Seems like a lot of time and effort to release for free. Watched it through already. Very enjoyable. Slightly vanilla though. I expected more debauchery I suppose. Not sure why they attempt to distance themselves from the 80s hair industry claiming they were so much different from that scene. Not to these ears/eyes.
  9. To your credit, Geoff, regardless of your past experiences with an artist you always check back to see if they might finally surprise you with a listenable track.
  10. Preordered the limited edition vinyl package with cd and t shirt. I grabbed Dark Energy from ITunes and have been listening to it non stop. Was planning on waiting 'til the Feb. release date to hear the rest but couldn't resist. Absolutely love Deeply Ordered Chaos. A lot of layers to it. Thanks for sharing. Can't wait for the tour!
  11. Platinum Blonde? They're touring? Several dates including a local casino here in Wpg, a Regina date and then a bar in Brandon, I think they were on the west coast in Sept. Check their website and then Ticketmaster.
  12. Awesome. Really liked the last one and have been slowly working on grabbing the rest of their catalogue little by little. Checking Amazon right now.
  13. Dan Reed Network... I am SOOOOO jealous! For me: Buckcherry end of the month. Platinum Blonde early November Big Sugar mid November Steel Panther end of November
  14. I've enjoyed everything he's done since hooking up with Conte from Company of Wolves. Another one I'll have to grab.
  15. Love the name, the look and sound. I'll likely pick this one up. What I don't like is the cover. I think they would have been better served using the band shot from heart fulla rock n roll. Just me though.
  16. THE Four Horsemen? Could be they tapped Ron Young to handle vocal duties as they did for their tour of the second album after Frank Starr died.
  17. Ultra slick. Prefer a little more crunch but no denying it's a catchy tune and a good choice for radio.
  18. I'm surprised your camera lens didn't fog up while taking this photo. Lol
  19. I've been collecting all of the Cult's albums on vinyl but only for the artwork. I have them framed for hanging. Otherwise my only two lps are Shark Island's S'cool Bus and A=440 for the supreme vocals of my favorite singer Thomas LaVerdi.
  20. Wow! Glad I checked out the preview. I'll be grabbing this one for sure. Comes off as a really cool cat; down to earth and well spoken. Really like the sounds of this.
  21. This does sound promising. I had previously read about these guys elsewhere. Agree the GnR reference comes off as slightly desperate.
  22. I figured I'd gamble on this at $9.99 in spite of the terrible reviews. Eyes (self titled) is by far my favorite Soto project.
  23. I love how Trixter embraces their past and brings a high energy good time rock show to the forefront. Really looking forward to this release.
  24. Love the music & I was expecting worse from the vocalist based on everyone's comments. This would be must have with a better singer but I can live with him. Might be just me but on first glance, they come across as trying too hard. Their look & lame stage names made me think they were a parody group. Don't much care for the band name either. Certainly provocative but with the same negative connotations you'd garner from calling your band the Pedophiles. Just my opinion. Glad I checked them out though. I like it.
