2023 Gold Donors Darkstone Posted March 2, 2021 2023 Gold Donors Report Share Posted March 2, 2021 Total Stranger - Paradise. This for me is an example of a perfect song. Flawless.
2023 Gold Donors Darkstone Posted March 5, 2021 2023 Gold Donors Report Share Posted March 5, 2021 Gary Hughes - It Must be Love. One of his earliest and best tracks. Another track I can't fault.
2023 Gold Donors Darkstone Posted March 11, 2021 2023 Gold Donors Report Share Posted March 11, 2021 Violet Janine - Down on my Knees. One of my favourite duets. Killer stuff IMO. She's very easy to look at as well.
2023 Gold Donors Darkstone Posted March 12, 2021 2023 Gold Donors Report Share Posted March 12, 2021 Kevin Paige - Don't Shut Me Out. I was gonna post this in the AOR song of the day thread, but I don't think it's AOR to be honest. It's close, but more AOP (Adult Orientated Pop), I guess. Still a great track I've always loved.

Oh yeah love this, bought his ST album back in '89 and played the shit out of it, this album deserves a thread of it's own.

2023 Gold Donors Darkstone Posted April 4, 2021 2023 Gold Donors Report Share Posted April 4, 2021 Arctic Monkeys - Do I Wanna Know. I think it's only gonna be the Aussies and the Brits that are familiar with these guys. I may be wrong. This is a great track.

I do love this song but because a lot of my friends are from the same city as the Arctic Monkeys it has somewhat been overplayed for me which is a shame.
2023 Gold Donors Darkstone Posted May 28, 2021 2023 Gold Donors Report Share Posted May 28, 2021 Sam Brown - Stop. I heard this today. I haven't heard it in ages and it reminded me what a great track it is.

2023 Gold Donors Darkstone Posted June 2, 2021 2023 Gold Donors Report Share Posted June 2, 2021 Bitch. I was reminded today of the original Meredith Brooks version, which in turn, reminded me of the far superior Aussie version.
2023 Gold Donors Darkstone Posted June 26, 2021 2023 Gold Donors Report Share Posted June 26, 2021 The Pursuit of Happiness - I'm an Adult Now. I loved this track in '88 when I wasn't an adult and still do. Not that I'm more of an adult now. It still holds up.
2023 Gold Donors Darkstone Posted July 22, 2021 2023 Gold Donors Report Share Posted July 22, 2021 (edited) Not a HH track, but I love this one. All the Cheech and Chong movies were regular rentals for me in my early teens. This track just brings a smile to my face. 2023 Gold Donors Darkstone Posted July 24, 2021 2023 Gold Donors Report Share Posted July 24, 2021 (edited) I've been "80s Pop" reminiscing today. These six are huge time machines for me. I know, six songs of the day is a little excessive, but there were so many great Pop tracks that we all grew up with. Maybe 80s Pop memories deserves a thread of it's own? "The Breakfast Club" video is pure 80s, BTW. Edited July 24, 2021 by Darkstone
2023 Gold Donors Darkstone Posted July 27, 2021 2023 Gold Donors Report Share Posted July 27, 2021 Inhaler - It Won't Always Be Like This. This track has been featuring fairly regularly on one of our commercial radio stations down here over the last few weeks. I know nothing about the band except that the lead Vocalist is the son of BONO (U2). You can definitely hear him in his Son's voice for sure. I wouldn't be interested in checking them out, but I have to say, this song isn't terrible. Nice chorus.

DorrianWolf
I never cared much about this guy,but his new album Sob rock is really catchy. Very early 80s vibe but still sounding fresh. Some of my favourite tunes.
2023 Gold Donors Darkstone Posted October 8, 2021 2023 Gold Donors Report Share Posted October 8, 2021 (edited) Laura Branigan - Gloria. I'm sure most of us here remember this track very well. A massive 80s international hit. It's been a while since I've heard it, but for some reason it's found it's way into the rotation of one of our radio stations in Melbourne and i've heard it about six times in the last two weeks. I didn't fully appreciate it at the time, but this is one great powerful vocal performance. The way the vocals build up is killer. She really did have an incredible voice. I had totally forgotten that she recorded that track, too. At least here - that's my impression - the original version by Umberto Tozzi was far more popular. My memory might betray me, but I don't think so. "Self control" was a huge hit and is still the song that most people think of when she gets mentioned.
