Hello from Texas! I'm a big fan of rock music from the 80s, particularly AOR. It's hard for me to find others who share my interests, so I joined this forum so I can meet new people.

Hi Garrison from Victoria (Australia). When you say AOR you must still have room for some ZZ Top, right? Isn't it illegal not to like ZZ Top if you are into rock music and from Texas?

I've never heard of ZZ Top. Are there any particular songs by them which you recommend?

I assume you’re joking, otherwise you’re going to have to go straight by Governor Abbott’s house and turn in your official Texan card. 😂

I'm afraid not, you'll have to enlighten me so I can keep my Texan card! 😅

Exactly how long have you lived in Texas? Or the United States?

I've lived here for almost my entire life. By the way, while I may not have heard of ZZ Top, I noticed that you like Dokken. Under Lock and Key is my favorite album, but So Many Tears is my favorite song by them.

From Texas or not, I would have thought's any music fan would have heard of ZZ Top. Go listen to Sharp Dressed Man or Legs.

I live in Austin, what about you? By the way, I listened to the songs. They're alright; for some reason, they kinda remind me of rock music from the 1970s.

Welcome to HH :drink:

For me the ZZ Top from the 70's is their better stuff.

I'm shocked! I thought it was a very funny comeback to say you'd never heard of the bearded trio (ok one doesn't have a beard but he is named Beard). Now, I think you are serious and I have choked on my Milo!

Well, if it makes you feel any better, I noticed that you do like Crazy Lixx and I'm a big fan of them too. My favorite song by them is 21 Till I Die.

I live down the road in New Braunfels. Still work in Austin.

Yes they were 80’s songs but they date back to the 70’s.

Thanks, I'm glad to be here! To be honest, I don't really listen to 70s rock music that often. Although I do like some of the stuff by KISS and the song "Go All The Way" by Raspberries.

    • Well it definitely motivated Spongebob
    • I love motivational hair metal songs, so I figured I'll create a thread for people share them. Here are a few of my favorites: "Don't Surrender" by Mercury   "Overnight Sensation" by Firehouse   "Sweet Victory" by David Glen Eisley and Bob Kulick
    • New album out January 24. From Pride & Joy Music: UK guitarist and songwriter Neil Fraser previously has worked/recorded with the likes of TEN, Rage of Angels/Ged Rylands (Tyketto), Tony Mills (TNT, SHY). Trishula started out as Neil’s solo project back in 2015.    Fraser had previously worked with Welsh vocalist Jason Morgan in the band Rage of Angels, so Jason was Neil’s first choice for lead vocal duties when it came to assembling the band members for Trishula. It took another 4 years of song writing from 2015 before the debut album ‘Scared to breathe’ was released in 2019. Whilst recording the debut, the UK based group were joined by Neil’s long-time friend and MAGNUM keyboard player Rick Benton and bass player Dan Clark from the Rebecca Downes Band. One year after the release of the debut, Trishula released their second album ‘Time waits for no man’ in 2020. It was at this point that Neil Ogden (DEMON) became their new drummer. A third album, ‘We all fall down’, was released in 2022.   The brand new fourth CD is titled ‘Becoming the enemy’ and the first one to be released on the band’s new label Pride & Joy Music.
    • My introduction to the band...way back when
    • Well that took far too long to kick in for me,its ok and he has an amazing voice...just wish he'd get a great song given to him again
    • This one popped up in my rotation today as it does frequently because I fucking love this track.  It contains killer lines like, "From the pale lips of the youth who lay", "After dark is the game I play" and "I hit the sack when the Sun's coming back". I've also added a video of an acoustic performance I came across years ago by some young "buskers", which is AWESOME! I wonder how many of you know this classic from the lines above before clicking on the "hidden content"? I would guess most.
    • Robban Back was their studio drummer
    • 'Still Believe' was my pick from this album. All in all I'd agree it's probably their best in a while. Not great, but not bad.
