I'm talking about the "new" reality TV stuff:

Survivor

Bachelor

Trading Spouses

Fear Factor

Who's Your Daddy?

The Apprentice

The Contender

Roommates from the ButtPlanet Galaxy

It seems like you can't swing a dead cat without hitting some new contrived phoney "nothing real about it" reality TV show.

I don't get the allure. I hate them. I think they're mindless drivel. The term "reality TV" is a misnomer - they're scripted and people are manipulated by the situations they are put in.

IMO there are only a few true "reality" TV shows - Cops, which is the original reality TV show, and World's Scariest Police Chases.

The biggest difference between the latter and the former is that in the latter, events and situations are not being created solely for the camera. The camera may be capturing events as they unfold, but by and large the participants do not know they are on film.

Reality TV? A trend that must die... :brutal_36:

Even though you're right....I still watch them. I enjoy them...because I look at them as intertainment, not necessarily that they are based on 'reality'.

I think all this "reality" TV is just total garbage. Like Dan said, it's anything but reality. It's the most contrived, scripted stuff on TV now. It's shows like these that have me watching and enjoying channels I never thought when I was younger I'd ever watch- Discovery, A&E, History Channel, instead of network TV.

Trading Spaces is about as much reality t.v. as I can handle. It doesn't hurt that Paige Davis is such a cutie...

We don't have the exact same programs over here, but a lot of things that are quite similar. I hate them! Annoying stuff. And you didn't even mention all the American Idol stuff. We've had different shows called Starmaker, Idols, Idols 2 and now we get Be A Movie Star... I'm so tired of all these people who think they are talented, but are obviously not, and still they are offended when the jury tells them they are garbage... Never new that there were so many dumb people out there...

Yep, same here. The only other one that ever held my interest is My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiancee. That one was quite hilarious.

I enjoyed the hell outta that show!!!

I'm going to say that I hate reality tv now. use to watch a few but now not so much. Hells Kitchen every now and again but not much else. even got out of watching Idol this past time. Reality tv has hurt tv overall. BUT TNT does have some of the best shows on tv right now.

Yep, I love it. Just like with "normal TV" there is far, FAAAAAR more garbage than good stuff but I generally prefer reality TV to "normal TV" about 100% of the time. :)

'Survivor' is the best show ever. Love this trashy 'True Beauty' show they're showing in Australia at the moment too. Anyone who said reality TV was excellent TV would be a dickhead, but that doesn't mean it's not enjoyable. But what is good on TV anyway? It certainly isn't all this crime/hospital/lawyer bullshit.

If they were REAL reality and not scripted I might watch some of them. They have good premises though.

Yeah mean to say you think 'Survvior' and 'The Amazing Race' and the like are scripted?

"Ice Road Truckers" is a cool one. (Those f*ckers are crazy!! You couldn't PAY me enough $$ to do their job!)

And though I question how "real" its "reality" is, I enjoy an occasional "Gene Simmons Family Jewels."

Oh, and "Hell's Kitchen" freakin' rules. I wish I were as rich and powerful as Gordon Ramsey so I could be a complete and total obnoxious a**hole to everyone and yet people would still line up for the chance to work for me.

    • So, Danny posted how the song is doing on Spotify and someone asked if this means a new album soon. Danny just made vague replies and said "well there will be more stuff coming soon"
    • Funnily enough, I read that this afternoon when I went to add the album to my collection on the main page. I got the European version which has two bonus tracks ... if you don't have them, you really aint missing anything
    • Faith in the Heartland-Journey
    • Created and Posted this video recently in order to promote Ryder SRIII a little more.  I love this song, one of my personal favs from the record.   Be careful viewing at work though (NSFW), just for a couple of images in the video.
    • Named my HH self after the song Auslander on the album Stain. Love that track. Really like the whole album. It's like Living Colour's "Slave to the Grind" or "Dog Eat Dog".
    • From Frontiers: TRACKLIST: 1 Awesome God 2 Stand Up 3 Warrior 4 There You Are 5 Speak His Name 6 Why God Brought Me Here 7 Praying 8 It's Up to You 9 Holy Moment 10 Leaning on the Cross 11 Jesus Christ --- When a musical family gets together to record, magic can happen and this is what the VAN ZANT’s are here for! Brothers Johnny and Donnie Van Zant (respectively current lead vocalist of Southern Rock icons Lynyrd Skynyrd and founding member of .38 Special) were able to find room in their busy schedules for the first time in 1998, recording their collaboration album “Brother to Brother”: a tribute to their late brother and Lynyrd Skynyrd original singer and founding member Ronnie. Such release was highly acclaimed between the press and fans worldwide and brought the duo to record a follow up album, simply entitled “II” in 2001. Their collaboration during the years did not stop as they tapped their feet in a more Country-oriented style with the release of “Get Right With the Man” (certified Gold in the USA in 2005) and later on with “My Kind of Country” in 2007. Now the brothers once again reinvent themselves, offering a Christian-themed album encompassing their Rock and Blues musical roots (and with a touch of Country for good measure). The result “Always Look Up” is made up of songs that will touch the listener’s heart and soul, with an emotional depth that is truly second to none in today’s musical landscape. Experience the soul touching that only the music from the Van Zant family, can provide. You will see why they are icons of the American South, and musical heroes to millions around the globe!
    • New song 'This Won't Last'.
    • Living Colour - Stain Great White - Psycho city
    • I am an atheist but will quite happily listen to Christian music. Hell I will listen to any music if it is good. I don't worship Satan, but will listen to Satanic music if it is good. I will listen to songs about drugs, despite never doing drugs. To me, with very few exceptions, I don't give a tarts furry cup if the lyrics are something I don't care about, as long as the music is good and the singers can sing (even happy to listen to foreign languages). That said, if lyrics make me cringe because they are godawful, it is tough to listen to a song. Some of this is mega cringe, not because it's Christian but because it's just not that great lyrically. I don't think either of these songs are awful, but they just did not grab me and the lyrics could have been so much better. As much as new Stryper gets on my tits as it all sounds the same, classic Stryper despite the preachy lyrics was always well written, hence why I really loved the band. And Michael Sweets first solo album was fucking amazing. I have Guardian, King James, Liberty & Justice, Bloodgood and a few other Christian bands in my collection, so judging Christian music is certainly not about the message, it's just about whether the music is good or not.
