Albums you never really gave a chance

There's are two that I have got to get my ears on.

Asphalt Ballet - "Pigs" (loved the debut but heard they changed singers and never bothered)

Faster Pussycat - Whipped (their debut is still my favorite but for some reason, this one never got played by me)

At first, it was Def Leppard's 'Slang,' but I've come to really enjoy it.

Lot's of people were put off by the title track I think. But I hear it now and it sounds like a glam 70's track. I agree that Slang is underrated. They shoulda kept their logo for the cover though.

Asphalt Ballet were, for me, a Britny Fox situation where second singer was better and imo this album is much better than debut.

Wow @ Faster Pussycat. Easily their best album, imo. Love that disc.

I don’t have any contributions to this thread as I try to get my ears on everything I think could be a possibility. If there’s something cool I’ve missed it’s because I don’t know about it or can’t find it.

I guess a lot the mid nineties releases from the classic eighties rock bands never really got a fair chance by me, releases like Slang, Ultraphobic, Fear no Evil and probably others.

Maybe because I was hugely let down by Subhuman Race and Mötley Crüe, I thought that every act was putting out shit like that, so I never bothered.

These days there is so much high quality music to check out, so I might never go back to revisit these records.

Serious answer: most of the Praying Mantis discography.

They've been on a roll since Sanctuary and obviously their 1981 debut is an underground classic but I'm entirely unfamiliar with almost everything in between, specifically their late 90s/early 2000s material. I have a feeling I'd like it, too.

Wow, you’re doing yourself a massive disservice by lumping Slaughter in with all the 80s artists that sold out. Slaughter never did, and in my opinion ‘Fear no evil’ is their best album, still in the same hard rock style as first two, if not slightly ballsier. Highly recommended.

Actually? I find that hard to believe. But I guess you lot can never criticise me for anything I've not heard, now. ;}

Do it.

Once I get my website up and running, I totally will!

Putting the caveat on that because I've been working on a "10 bands I wish we could get a second album from" for literal years, but bands keep coming back from the dead and making me have to start over.

Start a new list: "10 bands I wish hadn't come back from the dead."

Well now I see why Whipped never did a thing for me. Some of it really sucks and it too experimental. Worse then the industrial stuff.

You said you had never played it, not that it never did anything for you.

Owned and never played it. Whats the fucking difference?

You said you could see why it never did anything for you? How could you know it never did anything for you if you had never listened to it before?

I never said I never listened to it. I said I never gave it a chance. I know reading is hard.

Clearly reading is hard, because you can't seem to be able to read your own first post.

    • As best I can tell, it’s Acousticyzed re-issued with new artwork, and in all the various formats mentioned. This is exactly why I didn’t worry about picking it up earlier this year, as I figured MS would whip out the holy schlong and try to get the hardcore fans to shell out for a second version.
    • Mirror to the Sky - Yes
    • Not really something that fully appeals to me, but I certainly don't see it as dogshit. If it came on the radio (not that I listen to radio) I certainly would not turn it off or skip it on a playlist.
    • Yeah, this whole thread offends me.
    • I'm liking that first track as well
    • Interesting song choice as far as covering Journey, but they likely wanted to go with a lesser known track.   I'm not a fan of the vocal effects nor the guitar tone.  It's a skip for me, but not as bad as I was expecting after reading the prior comments.
    • The nice voice will change for future records, according to Graywolf's Facebook page:

    • Ehh? Is this the same content retitled, or a completely different set of live material?... there's so much wrong with this announcement: This album was previously released as a very-limited CD/DVD.  It sold out instantly.  So we went back in and did a Dolby Atmos remaster/remix of the album, and all new artwork. But CD and DVD don't support Dolby Atmos. That's not a thing. Blu-Ray yes, but not CD or DVD. ALSO - Not only will this be available on streaming platforms but we will soon be announcing the release of Vinyl, CD/DVD, and Cassette.  Yes, you read that right.  Cassette.  Oh - let's talk about the video - the BluRay video has been upgraded to 4K for this release "Upgraded to 4k"... whut? Unless it was reshot using 4K cameras (or was originally shot in 4K but simply authored to blu-ray in SDR) and is completely reauthored to support HDR, a 4K UHD release may not actually be an improvement. Boomers saying boomer things...
    • From the Michael Sweet FB page: You asked for it!  And we listened!  To Hell with the Amps, our acoustic album, is being released worldwide on May 10 to streaming services everywhere.   This album was previously released as a very-limited CD/DVD.  It sold out instantly.  So we went back in and did a Dolby Atmos remaster/remix of the album, and all new artwork.   ALSO - Not only will this be available on streaming platforms but we will soon be announcing the release of Vinyl, CD/DVD, and Cassette.  Yes, you read that right.  Cassette.  Oh - let's talk about the video - the BluRay video has been upgraded to 4K for this release.   There are so many exciting things to come with this release.  Stay tuned here and at Stryper.com We are looking forward to taking this acoustic album on the road starting May 30.
