Best albums of 2023
CMGiordano replied to tobi is an animal's topic in Music Polls and "Best of" Lists
My top 5: 1. Creye - III: Weightless 2. Nuclear Power Trio - Wet Ass Plutonium 3. Angel Vivaldi - Away with Words, Pt. 2 4. ModX - Secrets 5. Andy James - Fury from Above My list would likely be quite different if I had more time with the likes of Tempt, the Defiants, Temple Balls, Crowne, Hugo, Overland, Midnite City, etc., as I only got to really listen to a lot of these albums once or twice and then stuck with the songs that I liked the first time around. I was excited about Ronnie Atkins, Arctic Rain, Ammotrack, Masaki, Bonafide and a few others that I admittedly never even got to, also. -
Dirty Games - David Reece

Dirty Black Summer - Danzig

I love how every topic on an upcoming release inevitably spirals into how much we all hate ADV.

American Nights - Bonfire

I never much cared for friends, but I liked Matthew Perry. Bummer.

Late to the party because I keep trying to give this album a fair shake, but... I just get so bored and find myself having zoned out and not remembering most of the album. Now, that could be from the repeated head trauma finally catching up to me, but this just doesn't pass the vibe check for me.

Lou Gramm - Long Hard Look & Ready or Not -
New video for "Eye to Eye" I definitely don't hate it, but the new vocalist's voice is... very different than what I was expecting.

3 Things I Love and Hate about Frontiers
CMGiordano replied to auslander's topic in General Music Discussion
Especially when they have extremely talented musicians on their roster they could utilize but, for some reason, don't. -

U Don't Have to Kiss Me Like That - Billy Idol

Honestly, I don't think he's a bad songwriter. I just think they're asking him to do way too fucking much. The first few projects they had him writing for were fine. Now that he seems to be writing every other album Frontiers does, he's clearly writing off of a formula and a rhyming dictionary to meet quotas and deadlines and it's getting worse by the song. They're scraping the bottom of the barrel and refuse to listen to anything but positive feedback about it.

Bucket Full of Hate - Accept

It's not a bad song, but I couldn't finish listening to it. After playing in and around edgy pop punk bands that thought they were unique because they took some cues from their dad's vinyl collection all through middle and high school, I've heard this song so many times, I've just heard it so many times before. I agree with Auslander that it's got kind of a Paramore vibe, but I also agree that that isn't necessarily a good thing. I don't know. It comes off as... disingenuous to me?

Just what you'd expect with ADV handling most of the songwriting!
