My favorite band also....

Can't say I'm really digging Personal Jesus much though.  Frankly, never cared for the original much either.  For me, this is about the same level as the Yeah album that I didn't like much at all.  To be honest, I think their constant playing of Rock On live has influenced me a bit and not in a good way.  I'm so tired of hearing that song live when they have so many other songs in their catalog.  Overall, just never been real big on covers.  They're fine as one off things or whatever....But don't need to see albums full of covers.

And the Christmas song sounds pretty terrible to my ears.  This package will be an easy pass for me as I have no interest in another Greatest Hits offering.

You're lucky getting to see the Hysteria and more tour though.  I'm stuck here in the US seeing the same greatest hits tour every year.  I should've went to see Viva Hysteria in Vegas when I had the chance.

Is there actually anything more frustrating than a great band not releasing music for several years, and then returning to the fold with a shit cover? I think not. Rubbish song - hate it. I don't know the original and hearing this I sure as hell don't want to know it either. Shut up unless you're recording new original music, I say. :)

You hit the nail on the head for me.  The Yeah album was irritating as heck...Covers of a bunch of songs that I never liked to begin with when they should be doing new music.

Def Leppard has been absolutely terrible at releasing new music...What's there, 2 new albums in the last 15 years or something?  And 2 albums that were average at best with nowhere near the attention to detail or even focus they used to have.  They're always been my favorite band but they need a producer in the worst way if you ask me.  I mean, just put out a melodic rock album and stop screwing around with 70's influences and copycat Queen songs.  They irritate me that they've seemed to run away from the style of music that made them successful.

Honestly...If they would just put out a melodic rock album in the vein of what Midnite City is doing, people would eat it up and say how awesome it is.  Instead they continue doing these hodgepodge albums with a few good songs and a bunch of bad experiments and/or covers.....with Greatest Hits albums or live released every other year.

Sorry for the rant but they have been a frustrating band that was capable of much more the past 10-15 years IMO.

Well said, they were one of my favorite bands for the better part of a decade starting with High 'n Dry but unfortunately outside of some tracks on Euphoria and a couple on the self-titled album they've done very little that has interested me over the last 25 years.  Without Mutt pushing them and collaborating on the songwriting they seem to have been adrift without any clear direction

Their last album in 2015 was a great little album, after a couple of less than stellar releases.

As for them being terrible at releasing new music ... come on, ever since the gap between Pyromania and Hysteria, they have always had slightly longer release schedules than most. The shortest gap between albums was probably 3 years.

It is not like this is something they only started doing later in their career.

True they have been known for long delays between releases.  But over a similar 15 year span from '84 -'99 they put out 4 albums vs. 2.  And after Pyromania & Hysteria a delay was understandable following up hugely successful records (with long tours), Rick Allen lost his arm and had to relearn how to play, they scrapped recordings and started over with a different producer, and of course Steve's struggles with depression and alcohol eventually leading to his death while working on Adrenalize

From 84 (the year after Pyromania) until 99 they released 4 studio albums, yes, but from 2000 until 2015 they released 3 studio albums, not 2. Not really that much difference. They also released the covers album, so that was pretty much the same level of output.

They still continue to tour regularly and had issues such as Campbells cancer scare and recovery from that, plus the musical landscape is vastly different to that first time scale you mention.

Really not sure what your point is here?

Only point I was looking to make was that I agreed with the prior post above which had mentioned being frustrated that the guys hadn't put out many new releases over the last 15 years and that it may be beneficial to work with a better producer again.  Your follow up post pointed to the time between their earlier releases being similar and I responded to explain how I felt that was different, no worries though, we just see things differently

The guitar-work is great.  I think it's a pretty decent cover.

Look, I've been a HUGE fan since 1983, so you'll be hard-pressed to get me to say anything negative about this band.

Those of you who weren't around to see them on the Pyromania and Hysteria tours... God I feel badly for you.  "Top of their game" is a HUGE understatement.  The Beatles of my era for sure.

    • I reckon it's worth asking the question.
    • I come in genuine curiosity, but this hospital argument... I'd like clarification. So originally we couldn't do anything because covid was going to kill everyone on earth. Then there was a vaccine and we couldn't do anything until we all got vaccinated. Now we're all vaccinated and the sole reason left that we're still living piece of shit lives is because we don't want to overload the hospitals? Is this the correct read on it? So, if this is true, we've resigned to the truth that is this is how the rest of our lives look? Masks, QR codes, crowd capacities, covid tests if we want to travel interstate, let alone international travel - then we need 87 tests and quarantine every time a new variant pops up, which will be fortnightly, or at the latest, monthly. This is it now, is it? Because if it's not, how does the end of it look? When will it be okay to live again without fear of clogging up the hospitals?  I can only speak for Australia on this part of it, but all we've ever heard about is stopping the strain on the hospitals, but has anyone ever seen it? Would anyone even consider overloaded hospitals as an issue if the media hadn't told us it was an issue? I ask as anyone I know who works in healthcare, and to an extent, even myself, as a medical courier who has worked every single day of the last two years... no one I know, or I, have ever seen any single even remote sign of all this strain on our health system. So, like the rest of this pandemic, is it just another media beat up? All they've done for two years straight is belt fear into us, so is it unreasonable to think this is just another branch from that tree? I'm just sick of daily excuses why our lives are still fucking horrible. Anytime the mere suggestion of return to a "normal" life gets brought up, there's a whole list of media-inspired reasons why we have to continue living in misery.  Anyway, I think that was about it. I'm just in eternal wonder about why we all had to get vaccinated when it hasn't actually changed anything about how covid is viewed and feared. Covid is viewed exactly as it was two years ago. It still governs every aspect of how we live, so all these promises about getting vaccinated so we could go back to a normal life were obviously all bullshit.  I was thinking about Australia's trajectory this morning. So if we keep up this pathetic excuse for an existence - the daily covid rate is around 1300 daily cases - let's call it 1500 daily cases if and when the other states open up. So if we continue on this trajectory, living in paralysed fear of the virus, acting like every case of covid is terminal cancer, we should get past this covid thing in about 15,333 days. So around 42 years. That, of course doesn't allow for population growth, but let's assume the cases go up with population growth proportionately.  So that's the outlook in Australia. In 42 years, we might finally move on from covid, based on our current trajectory? What a future to look forward to! Oh, actually, that doesn't include cases prior to today, so maybe we can get out of this thing in closer to 41 years? Life just got a whole lot brighter right then.
    • Really nice album cover indeed...but ten for me this last while...yawn...as Jez pointed out they all sound the same,i'd have difficulty picking which track came from which album tbh
    • Yeah it starts off very good then tails off round midway...but the defs have potential and judging by the new tunes could fulfil it...fingers crossed
    • And mine still hasn't been sent...quality service right there  too late to get a refund? lol
    • Yeah Badd Boyz is very good, would be my fav of the three...I really like the Platinum Overdose albums but I know where you're coming from,I also prefer their more melodic/glammy/sleazy side to the metal type stuff
    • Here's what it was for me, I mostly voted on familiarity: 1. I'll be honest, I didn't know who either of these singers were.  Of the two I've only heard music from Harem Scarem so it was Hess for me 2. I like Coverdale's voice more than Tyler's 3. I voted Michaels since I've only heard a handful of Enuff Z'nuff songs and I listen to a lot of Poison.  With such a limited sample size this might change when I hear more Z'nuff but for right now it has to be Michaels 4. Haven't heard a lot of Mason so I voted Jani.  As far as I'm concerned Jani is the full package when it comes to singer-songwriters, he's an absolute Legend 5. Of all of these I feel like this is the least fair comparison, they don't sound even remotely alike to me.  While Pearcy isn't a phenomenal vocalist in the traditional sense, he's so much more distinct in my opinion.  I think Phil's voice could get lost in the shuffle, but when Pearcy sings you KNOW it's Pearcy which is arguably more important in some cases 6. Haven't heard Queensryche with La Torre, so Tate it is 7. Bon Jovi is my favorite band of all time, come at me 8. Same with Tate, I've only heard Great White with Russell so Russ it is 9. I like both versions of Danger Danger for different reasons, but I have to go with Poley for this one 10. Haven't heard anything from Heart I don't think, so Elliot all the way 11. Haven't heard much of Cold Sweat or Cathey, but I do love that first Lynch Mob album. Point Logan! 12. Once again had to look these guys up, but this time I've actually heard one full album from each.  I assumed Bulen was Keeling, but that aside this was probably the closest one for me.  Ended up going for Baton Rouge but if you asked me in a few weeks that might change We should do this again sometime, maybe with guitarists/drummers/bassists/etc?
    • Your gonna make me do this aren't you? OK fine, well should've been vaxed, guess it serves ya right, you right wing Nazi piece of shit, why don't you go back to Hitler and check in, I knew your were fac, and your cis, all you fascists think your better then the law, it has to do with your cis gender, you cant help it, born in the coat of missing pigment your white supremacist privilege just eeks out,
