BREAKING NEWS: SPREAD EAGLE SIGN TO FRONTIERS MUSIC SRL! EAST COAST STREET METALLERS TO RELEASE NEW STUDIO ALBUM IN 2019!

Frontiers and Spread Eagle are very proud to announce that the band has signed to the label for the release of a new album in 2019. The band have started pre-production in the Music Building, located in New York City, which is the exact place where the songs for their debut album were rehearsed and written. Recording will take place at Studio E in Brooklyn, NY with Grammy Award winning engineer Tom Camuso.

"Spread Eagle are honored to be joining the Frontiers' family. With Frontiers, we now have a very strong platform to spread the word on our style of ROCK. I promise our new album will be powerful because we, as brothers, truly believe in each other. Most of all, we want to do right by the fans who have been a tremendous source of inspiration to us," says vocalist Ray West.

"We're stoked to be recording again after all these years and working hard to make this album just as powerful and spirited as the previous SPREAD EAGLE records," says bassist and producer Rob De Luca. "It seems like I’ve lived nine lives since the last Spread Eagle record, so it’ll be great to add all those experiences into the mix on our new album. Frontiers seems to understand who we were and who we can be, so we’re very excited to be working with them!"

Spread Eagle is a welcome addition to the Frontiers' family, where they will become yet another vital band from the '80s/'90s rock scene to release amazing new music in the 21st century! I doubt this will sound anything like the debut, which was one of my favorites from 1990, but I still look forward to hearing what they come up with.

Does it ever? I'll be happy with a listenable album. Don't expect too much more. But you never know,  we could be surprised.

Going on the recent Pretty Boy Floyd album, I would not be surprised if this is previously unreleased songs re-recorded.

Which would be fine, its whether Wests voice can still hang with his Serenade voice from the debut. Hell from either record would be fine as they both are 2 of my fave's.

First video 'Sound Of Speed' released.

NEW ALBUM AND VIDEO ALERT: Spread Eagle is back and will release their first album in over 26 years, "Subway To The Stars" on August 9th via Frontiers Music SRL. Today, fans can check out the first single and video from the album, "Sound Of Speed".

"Our primary intention was to go back to the egg. Not to the debut album, but even before then. When we were unsigned, rehearsing in the East Village NYC and just putting our first songs together. We worked every day and night on our dream. We were a gang and no one could tell us we couldn’t accomplish something. That’s when we were at our rawest and nastiest and the intensity was completely off the meter. Of course, you can never truly go back in time, everyone learns and evolves; however, I wanted to remember that feeling of writing razor riffs in those basement spaces in 1989, then add it to current experiences," says founder and bassist Rob De Luca Official on what fans can expect.

On first single "Sound of Speed", De Luca continues, "We wanted something that had a strong sense of propulsion. After that verse riff popped out, the chorus and other sections flowed effortlessly. From very early on in the writing process, I felt this should be the song to reintroduce Spread Eagle. I was happy that Frontiers had that exact same vision for it. As I said above, it invokes the spirit of our inception with some additional skills that we’ve learned."

Spread Eagle burst upon the hard rock scene of the late ‘80s/early ‘90s playing a brand of rock that hailed straight from the mean streets of New York City. When Paul DiBartolo (guitar), Rob De Luca (bass), and Tommi Gallo (drums) moved to New York City and met up with Ray West (vocals), East Coast Streetmetal was born. The group was quickly snatched up and signed to MCA/Universal Records, then sent straight into the legendary Record Plant studios to record their debut album. The self-titled debut was produced by Charlie Gambetta and featured a gritty and dangerous sound, wailing vocals and razor sharp guitar, demonstrated through songs such as "Switchblade Serenade", "Scratch Like A Cat", and "Broken City". Four years later, after the release and touring of their second album, "Open To The Public" (also produced by Gambetta), the band took an extended break and went about their own personal projects.

Spread Eagle reformed in 2006 under the direction of Ray West and Rob DeLuca (who has also worked with UFO and Sebastian Bach) along with two new members, Ziv Shalev (guitar) and Rik De Luca (drums). The band has been together ever since and decided to start production on a new album, scheduled for release in August 2019 on Frontiers. Songs for “Subway To The Stars” were put together in the Music Building in NYC, which is the exact same place where the songs for their debut album were rehearsed and written. Recording took place at Studio E in Brooklyn, NY with Grammy Award winning engineer Tom Camuso. The new album does not disappoint and picks off up where the band left off. Spread Eagle is a welcome addition to the Frontiers' family, where they will become yet another vital band from the '80s/'90s rock scene to release amazing new music in the 21st century!

Song is OK, but doesn't raise my expectations for the upcoming album.  Ray's voice seems rather subdued when compared to their debut, but then again how many singers sound like they did 30 years earlier.  New guitarist sounds pretty good and seems to fit right in

I was holding out hope that this album might end up being a pleasant surprise, but based on those two promo tracks it will likely just be another disappointing 2019 release

Loved the debut with its G'n'R type attitude and  the Open To The Public disc wasn't bad but this is...why I ask? Between this and the new Roxy Blue release Frontiers have taken two quality bands from my youth and turned them against me...and again Why I ask?

Considering the epic debut and that Open To The Public remains a personal favourite from back in the day, wasn't too blown away by these first two singles (weird promo-ing two rather similar songs too I might add), but 29th February won me over right away with its Open To The Public-like guitar and rhythms and with no DiBartolo who wrote most their early music it's uncanny how well they've captured their Open To The Public sound here on all songs thus far.

After 25 years doubt they will quite equal those first records (few do) but am now very confident for a great record \m/

HA and kudos Geoff for not holding back LOL...  but yes.

Trust me I had my doubts, no DiBartolo a primary concern. And the first two singles didn't exactly convince me but with 29Feb, that guitar sound and those second verse riffs are reminiscent of many moments I enjoy from OTTPublic and I've loved and lived with that album since release. 

There's gotta be that 25yr clause of course and no-one should expect this to be exact, but this track sure as hell ticks enough boxes fer this fan, and a preview of both the title track and More Wolf Than Lamb has me rather pumped

Opinions being what they are of course but bring on Friday 😁
