Brazilian band "Tales From The Porn" (shit name, I know) will be releasing their debut album in Sept.

Initially only available from a Brazilian website, a European distributor will be announced soon (but they will export to America apparently).

They managed to get Stevie Rachelle to sing for them, so will at least have some familiarity and not have some bad south American accent on vocals.

Stevie describes the sound as Skid Row meets Cinderella meets Ratt (although obviously Tuff must factor in the sound somewhere too ha ha).

 

They have a song available on Soundcloud, and it does sound good (the guitar melody certainly sounds like Ratt to me, with a hint of Back for more in it).

Lyrically it is a bit cheesy, but it does sound pure 80s hair metal (the album will feature a cover of Dangerzone just in case it needed more 80s cred).

I don't love the lead vocals (but I don't hate them) but I do love that riff. Very cool. And overall, very authentically 80's. Definitely something I am interested in. Cool song.

 

It actually does have a pretty heavy Tuff vibe in quite a few places. Guitar-wise and backing vocals and all... very Tuff-esque.

The Tuff vibe has to be there considering Stevie is on vocals, but considering how he has done other stuff since then that does not sound like Tuff musically, its actually good to hear him going back to his roots.

Yeah, definitely. Not even Shameless ever really sounded much like Tuff... even when they were good. ;) But this sounds like something worthwhile since the Tuff days. He never had a great voice, but it seems more obviously bad these days. But as long as he's making music like Tuff I'm a happy dude.

I think I would have preferred the song without the Stevie on vocals. The tune and the riff as mentioned is huge but Stevie's vocals seem strained and a bit week especially compared to the chorus. The cheesy lyrics are fine hell its butt rock after all.

 

The band should 1 change the name and 2 go with a local screamer as Brazil has two gaggles of quality musicians.

Holy shit, that is seriously awesome. Not to mention, it's the best filmclip of 2017. But I absolutely love the song.

 

As for getting a local screamer, Terry... I dunno, mate. I don't think I've ever heard a good Brazilian vocalist. I'd probably take Rachelle over any locals. He sounds much better on this song.

Pretty good band and album,just a tad short but pretty good none the less.

Never bothered with this.
Saw Stevie mention it on Facebook a few times, but I guess I just assumed it was a rerelease of a Tuff album (which happens every year in some form)
His vicals are a lot like Keifer's and Pearcy's in that they are a bit harsh and take a bit of getting used to.

What I really like about that song is the Vito Bratta-esque guitar riffs.
Very cool, will have to check out the album

See these kinda vocals are really my thing so they don't really take much getting used to for me. Being a predominantly glam/sleaze orientated fan, the likes of the above mentioned fit right in with the likes of Vince Neil, Axl Rose and Dizzy Dean for me.

I'm a big fan of Cinerella, Ratt, GNR, Lizzy Borden, Jackyl, Myles Kennedy, Bruce Dickinson, Blackie Lawless, Richie Kotzen, high picth Mark Slaughter, etc
But every time I put on a new album by one of those bands it takes a few listens to attune to the vocals again.
- get in the vibe of the voice or whatever.

But I never really got others, like Lemmy, recent Brian Johnson, and all the ACDC clone bands

      I wonder what control they have over the releases? That have promoted the BMG individual releases. The 2009 reissues were by original label, EMI. And this boxset seems weird being issued by Cherry Red. And I have not seen the bands social media promote it at all. I wonder if the reason the BMG ones were lacking in the bonus tracks from the previous reissue was EMI holding onto the rights, but have now allowed Cherry Red to release them. I know EMI used to be the distributer for Cherry Red, so they may be more forthcoming with the material.

      I have been a Band Maid fan since their early days (2015) as I really don't mind foreign vocals as long as the music is great, but I always kinda avoided Babymetal as I saw a video of them once and really wasn't impressed with the kiddy vocals, so never gave them another chance. Fast forward to now and on the back of the collab with Electric Callboy I have decided to give them a go. I thought they had a huge discography as they have like 25 albums, but on closer inspection it is only four studio albums and 21 live albums. As I am not a fan of live albums anyway, I decided to buy the four studio albums as they are all quite cheap. Have to say there music is a mixed bag, but overall really enjoying a lot of it. Not sure if I just picked the wrong song to start with, or if it is just that I have adapted more due to getting into a lot of weird and wonderful foreign bands over the last few years, but I am glad I finally gave them a proper go. Have to say, if this song was sung in English I think they would have a lot of fans on here

      Another i'm still awaiting the arrival of...same day release/delivery my arse Amazon  Still this is sounding like their best release thus far...they are gaining and getting better...although I did enjoy the last few albums also...but the sound/production from this one is excellent.
