Another fucking pantomime act. Someone needs to seriously advise them that you don't necessarily need a gimmick, to ditch the absolute shit name and image (and I use that word politely) and let the music do the talking, which they obviously can

Yep the gimmicks put me off a bit too, even if the music is great. I know it shouldn't matter as long as the music is good but I just can't stand bands who constantly take the piss. Having said that, from what I can see and hear, HF1 isn't quite in the same category as Steel Panther.

Eh? Ok the image is gimmicky but how are those songs taking the piss.

All 4 songs sounded like awesome melodic hard rock to me. With 99% straight lyrics.

Jeez i wish every band had this sound.

I truly hope they have a full album soon.

Don't get me wrong Glen, I like the music as much as you, great melodic hard rock. The lyrics are not cheesy like SP, but this I hate:

Yeah, that's awful. I hate that shit, too. My friends do that with their cover band, and I think they look ridiculous.

To be honest mate they could be dressed up as pantomime horses if the songs are this great.

Sounds exactly as i imagine Steel Panther would if they played straight songs

LOVE this sound.

Fair enough, I get that, and respect your view as well. For me though image does matter and absolutely does have some influence on my listening habits. I'm not saying I won't listen to them but in the back of my mind when listening to HF1 I will always have an image of a bunch of clowns making a mockery of 80s hard rock. What else could they be doing dressed like that and wearing ridiculous wigs? As good as the music is (and I agree, it is good) this image will sour my opinion of them somewhat and lose them a few points in my book.

Oh, you mean that band that suck 60-50% of the time? In all honesty, I already prefer these guys to Edguy and I don't even own anything from them yet! ;)

Gotta be honest, and I couldn't possibly care less about their image with songs like that. I really couldn't. 99.9% of the time you're just going to be listening to songs on your stereo, so what on earth does it matter what they look like?? ;)

As for any indication that they may be a parody band musically, I don't get that vibe at all. Just straight up strong melodic hard rock songs. Love all 4 of the songs.

They are in my back yard...if I had a big back yard. The sound is great, I'd likely buy a full release.

I wonder if any of the guys in the band were in legit / straight up hair bands in the 80's. Canada sure had it's share of good bands in the 80's.

Agree I don't really hear a parody band vibe here- just good MHR. Their promo photos however look so stupid and ridiculous it makes me cringe...just awful!

Judging from You Tube these guys have been on the cover circuit.....which might explain the wigs et al.....after all there are loads of cover bands which dress up / wear wigs etc to look like their idols.

Seriously though the 4 original songs on Soundcloud sound marvellous (and I detected a few more demos on You Tube which sounded delicious as well) so I do hope they can get a full release together soon and not just an EP.

Jesus mate, 99% of promo photos make me cringe and they are supposedly being 'serious'.

Yeah, I gotta say I'd prefer this promo shot to one of the many (and most) these days where the band looks like my great grandfather and his dad hanging out in the garage.

Mate you make me laugh sometimes.....

You say this, but your favourite release of 2015 was Cats In Space (an absolute shit name) with one of the worst photo shoots I've ever seen which would have 99% of the world's population (outside of our tiny genre) either shaking their heads or falling over themselves laughing

Just saying............

Don't forget the part where Lordi is one of his favourite bands. ;) In fact, if I'm not mistaken, Lordi and The Darkness are enjoyed by several of the haters in this thread...

    • The goddamn ADV fellow involved. Again.  But I like the song anyway. From Frontiers: Frontiers Music Srl is proud to present Killer Kings' debut album entitled "Burn For Love". Killer Kings is a musical alliance between Gregory Lynn Hall (ex- 101 South) and Tristan Avakian (ex- Red Dawn, Queen Extravaganza).  Killer Kings first came about when Frontiers Records President Serafino Perugino thought of bringing Gregory Lynn Hall, the former singer of 101 South, an AOR band who released three albums between 2000 and 2009, and Tristan Avakian, a very gifted guitarist who made his name in the '90s with the Melodic Hard Rock band Red Dawn, together. Musically, Killer Kings mixes the AOR approach of both Red Dawn and 101 South with some interesting twists.  Gregory Lynn Hall has had a long history in the music industry, in all areas from studio work to live performances. Gregory pounded the pavement in the thriving '80s Hollywood rock scene, playing at all the rock venues from Gazzaris to the Troubadour to The Country Club. He eventually left L.A. after the '80s hard rock scene died down and became a session vocalist, singing on many well known Christian artists' albums. In the late '90s, he returned to California and in 1999, while doing a session in Malibu, he met Roger Scott Craig (ex-Fortune) and thus 101 SOUTH was born. Shortly after the first 101 SOUTH album (2000) was finished, Gregory was asked to join the band Heaven & Earth as their bass player and toured with them to support the "Windows to the World" album. He would then go on to record two more acclaimed 101 SOUTH albums and one solo record in 2014. Tristan Avakian is a professional musician of many years with extensive experience in theater, touring, writing, and producing. Cirque du Soleil, Lauryn Hill, Mariah Carey, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, and Biohazard are just some of the names from the varied genres and artists he has immersed himself in. He has also worked with producers such as Steve Thompson and Rob Thomas and joined the Queen Extravaganza show in the USA. He is also known for being the guitarist of '90s Melodic Hard Rockers Red Dawn, a band formed by former Rainbow keyboardist David Rosenthal, together with other two Rainbow alumni Chuck Burgi and Greg Smith, which released a critically acclaimed album for EMI Toshiba in Japan in 1993. Tracklisting: 1. Burn For Love 2. I Will Be Stronger 3. Higher 4. In A Different World 5. Another Night, Another Fight 6. Phoenix 7. Two Ships 8. Losing Me 9. Do Or Die 10. The Pains Of Yesterday 11. Ain’t No End In Sight Line-Up: Gregory Lynn Hall - Vocals Tristan Avakian - Guitars Alessandro Del Vecchio - Bass, Keyboards Nicholas Papapicco - Drums Additional Musicians: Tommy Denander - Keyboards on 'Burn For Love'
    • The search button is your friend, not your enemy...
    • Loving aspects of this. It's like a cassette tape, actually. I quite love most of the first half, but the second side balladry is a bit of a pass for me. The one exception being 'Smoking.' What a cool groove. I wasn't sure I was going to love it from the start, but man it's a cool song.  'Why Are You Calling Me Now' is an absolute belter, and I like the first 8 songs (except 'Time to let it go' and 'Don't go'). Good album with a very nice sound.
    • This is out and it's very nice. Interesting how far removed it is from a song like 'Midnight in Miami,' but it's still very good. I do enjoy.  Heart Of Gold     -    Beautiful Dangerous 1    .    To The Blue 2    .    Headache 3    .    Patient 4    .    Bright Lights 5    .    There's A Difference Between 6    .    Leave Just Yet 7    .    Something That Lasts Forever 8    .    September Sunburn 9    .    Backseat Daydream 10    .    Hometime 11    .    Bad Habit 12    .    Co-Dependent 13    .    And Something That Never Ends 14    .    Time Spent Driving This'd be my favourite tune off the new album.
    • These guys have a new album, with some very nice surprises aboard.  Hollywood Undead     -    Hotel Kalifornia 1    .    CHAOS 2    .    World War Me 3    .    Ruin My Life 4    .    Hourglass 5    .    Go To War 6    .    Alone At The Top 7    .    Wild In These Streets 8    .    Dangerous 9    .    Lion Eyes 10    .    Trap God 11    .    Happy When I Die 12    .    Reclaim 13    .    City Of The Dead 14    .    Alright
    • Very, very safe. To be totally honest, I didn't find a keeper on here, but it's a solid album, all right on the verge of something a bit better. Nice, safe AOR.
    • You sure? I could be wrong but I thought Ronnie's only contribution to this project, from the start, had been his vocals? Either way, the new album's more of the same. I don't dislike any of it, and I don't furiously love any of it either. It's all pretty nice. 'Riot' is my favourite on the album half because it's a nice ballad but also because I expected it to be some plodding songs about riots but instead it was a trick shot. Nice.
    • Of Virtue     -    Sinner 1    .    Hypocrite 2    .    Sinner 3    .    Cold Blooded 4    .    Echoes Quick, pretty harsh but a cool EP for those who don't mind a scream or two-
    • Another one I've mentioned before. Bummed it's only an EP (with two of the same songs on it) but Outsider Heart have released a delicious EP- Outsider Heart     -    Entertainment 1    .    Entertainment 2    .    Anyone But You 3    .    MONSTER 4    .    Crop Circles 5    .    Like The Rest 6    .    Crop Circles (feat. Brody) Sure I posted it before, but I love this song-
