I will personally definitely check out the album when it drops. I wouldn't say I like his voice as a "proper" vocalist, but I do love Slaughter; always have. Great band that managed to do the mid-90's without selling out, which counts for a whole lot with me. The fact that they released 'Fear no evil' when all their peers were busy trying to fit in with their shitty attempts at grunge... yeah, I dig that. I hope this solo disc is a good one.

 

So Slaughter are no more, I assume? Funny how all these American bands from the 80's were active, maybe still are... but they all just stopped recording CDs. Quite a shame.

Slaughter's still a functioning band....albeit, it seems to only play live. Them and Firehouse....and Cinderella, basically...all bands touring like hell but not putting out new music. Kinda sucks......

I am too...I think it is going to be more laid back but maybe I am wrong. Some of these bands kill me....Slaughter, Firehouse, Cinderella...they could all sign with Frontiers in a second and do a new album but they never do.

I thought it was pretty decent too, but I haven't played it since about the 2nd or 3rd time I played it, nor do I have a desire to. So I hope it's a little more interesting than that one.

The band Slaughter have sold more than 5 million records worldwide, with numerous Top 30 Hits on the “Billboard Charts” with tunes such as "Fly To The Angels" and "Up All Night”. The band hit the road playing to stadiums and arenas, touring the world with bands such as KISS, Poison, and Ozzy Osbourne, and more.

Before the formation of his own group Slaughter, Mark fronted a local band Xcursion before joining the Vinnie Vincent Invasion in 1987, with a huge hit song "Love Kills" that appeared on the “Nightmare Before Elm Street 4” movie soundtrack in 1988. After that, the band disbanded in the late 1980s.Two of it”s members, Dana Strum along with Mark, formed the group Slaughter.

25 years after releaseing the Debut album “Stick It To Ya”.the band continues touring to sold out venues throughout the world. Slaughter is the only band from their genre who wrote, produced, and still continues to play their music live today.

Mark Slaughter was born in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 4th. He has worked as a voice-over actor and composes music for Television, Movies and sports outlets, with credits including music compositions for Fox Sports, along with voice over ventures in productions like Batman Beyond, Bloodsport, and Animaniacs.

Mark released a new single, “Never Givin Up”, his first ever-solo track, to rave reviews on radio stations across the country. Legendary music producer Michael Wagener mixed and mastered the single. Mark played all instruments on the track with the only exception being drums that were tackled by Mark Goodin. This tune salutes the military and all who have served; it has already received glowing reviews.

“Reflections In A Rear View Mirror” is a great new album that highlights Mark’s talents to maximum effect. Songs like “Away I Go”, “The Real Thing” and “Don’t Turn Away” are all highlights of a very strong recording. Melodic Hard Rock never sounded better.

I've given this a spin and... there are songs I really like and others I despise. It's all over the map. It is *NOT* laid back.

 

At times there's a bit too much of a '90s "Seattle Sound" ala grunge in places that puts me off, but then it will hit some good licks and chorus and all is well again.

 

I haven't decided whether I love it or hate it at this point. Needs digesting.

Not laid back = excellent! I thought it'd be some forgettable effort like the decent but instantly forgettable Tom Kiefer disc.

 

Seattle Grunge sound = kill me now.

I listened to the album again this afternoon, and the grunge comparison I originally used probably wasn't the right one to use. On certain verses his vocals meander a bit with respect to pitch and that combined with use of minor keys gives me a vibe I just don't care for. However, once he gets to the chorus things are fine. Most people might not even notice it.

 

Overall, the album is solid. It's just that every now and then there's just the wrong combination of vocals, harmonies, and guitar tuning that make me wince. I don't know how to describe it.

Most of it does sound good.

Sounds promising then but probably will ended up around 75-80% type of album ?

I'm eager to hear and compare it to Tom Keifer's solo which one's better

First spin and I'm not sure what I think of this one. I'm glad to see he didn't try an acoustic singer/song writer thing, as they can be pretty drab. It's good to hear a bit of edge to it, musically, but I dunno, I gotta admit I wasn't really feeling the songs first time around. A small handful sounded okay, but nothing was really sinking in. It's definitely not a Slaughter album. It'll need more spins, but I wasn't overly enthused with my first spin.

Man, this album is a mix of alterna-crap and hard rock, I think I like 'Somewhere Isn't Here' and 'Don't Turn Away', and think 'Never Givin Up' and 'The Real Thing' aren't bad, the rest is between poor and average. Overall a disappointment I guess, probably worth below 70% but I'm being generous and throw a 71.3% for Mark's comeback
