Am I going crazy or was "Nowhere Left To Go" on "Livin' Out Loud"?

For the record I completely disagree with Geoff - I loved his last album and this one is even better.

 

I became a fan with Livin' Out Loud. For me, My Revolution is good but doesn't top it so far, but I will be listening to it more and more over the coming days.

 

I agree. And it's really not even in the same ballpark IMO:

It wasnt on the album.

 

It was written around the same time as was naturally beautiful.

 

Criminal the these didnt make livin out loud as both are great songs imo.

 

Ill rate both in the fullness of time for a comparison. As I said before the highs are better on LOL but MR is more consistent.

 

Disc sounds great too production wise.

2. Wildflower 6.5/10 [solid poison styled rocker]

3. Hate To Love You 9/10 [killer styled BJ rocker]

4. I'm On Fire 7/10 [solid rocker, simple chorus]

5. Somebody to Love 7/10 [subdued ballad, solid]

6. Caught in The Middle 9.5/10 [killer MHR]

7. Gimme Some Rock 5/10 [dreadful title, OK rocker]

8. Livin Out Loud 7.5/10 [nice rocker]

9. Still Waiting for You 7.5/10 [solid BK styled ballad]

10. Long Way Down 7/10 [cool verse and pre, slightly let down by chorus]

11. Hard To Say Goodbye 8.5/10 [v nice hard rocker]

12. Til Love Is Gone 7.5/10 [v cool riff again slight let down on the chorus]

 

Overall : 75%

1. My Revolution 7.5/10 [v cool rocker, takes off half way]

2. Happily Ever After 8.5/10 [pretty killer MHR]

3. Youre The Drug 8.5/10 [killer stuff, love the riff and backing vox]

4. Fill Up Up 7.5/10 [love the lyrics lol....go Johnny! nice chorus]

5. Blame It On Love 9/10 [what BJ s/b recording imho]

6. I Cant Love You 7/10 [easy going ballad, nice solo]

7. Tell Me Lies 8.5/10 [very good Gotthard styled rocker]

8. Couldnt Be The One 8/10 [nice medium paced rocker..cool lyrics]

9. Nowhere Left To Go 9/10 [how could he leave this off L.O.L....killer MHR imo]

10. Dirty Girls 7.5/10 [fun rocker]

11. Show Them Who UR 7.5/10 [more solid rock]

12. Into The Light 7.5/10 [dreamy ballad]

13. Deeper Into You 7.5/10 [nice modern rocker]

14. Maybe Youre Right 8.5/10 [v good heartfelt ballad]

15. Naturally Beautiful 8.5/10 [v good rocker to end - love this one]

Interesting when you break it down....possibly not quite as strong overall as I first though, but the whole album flows really well and you cant argue with 15 songs.

You can still get the limited cd with 15 tracks from Johnny's store (what I've just done!). Pricey, for Europeans, but it just kills me! I really hope that I'll be able to spin it in my car cd player without causing havoc in the suburbs.

Haha, not far off my 75%, mate.

 

Totally agree with you on the 'Livin' Out Loud' track preference. 'Caught in the middle' is literally the only song I remember at all from that CD. Killer track. If only he could record 10 of those each time, he'd be up on tier one with the best of the genre. Sadly, that's a clear standout.

 

But yeah, I don't mean to be harsh and I like the guy. I think he creates good, consistent music. I just don't get him confused with the higher echelon of the genre.

There's still at least 7 very good / killer tracks on this album....with the rest being very solid.

 

I'd say that puts him up there to be honest.

 

Trying to be a little harsher with my scoring this year so 80% is a very good score.
