Hello everyone!

I am Lucas and I've been more and more into hard rock and AOR music. I found this forum googling for more info about the band "Alien", and I thought "why not?", so here I am. :)

In a simple way, this is who I am: http://www.lastfm.com.br/user/lucastgomes

I really like Hard Rock and Prog music. My favourite band is Pink Floyd, and in prog I really like Transatlantic, Karmakanic, Porcupine Tree... And in Hard Rock/AOR, the list is huge: Autograph, Strangeways, Ten, Alien, Bam Bam Boys, Bad English... Just awesome bands!

I live in Brazil, and nowadays the hard rock scenario is not very good. But if I get to know good bands around, I'll share for sure. :)

Thanks in advance for everything and let's keep rocking.

Sorry, I was just being a dick. Your last name is Gomes? Reminds me of an album I was given. Do you like Pepeu Gomes? ;}

Great picks! Welcome aboard friend

I like Pink Floyd and Porcupine Tree too, aside from being a casual MHR/AOR fans.

and how about Riverside ? they're quite Pink Floyd-ish too, but later evolved to a more metal approach, great band too from Poland

Thank you guys!

Reverebdm I try my best with English. I really like the language and I study it for almost 10 years. But I never had a chance to travel abroad to be put to the proof. :(

And I know Pepeu Gomes music, KarpetRide! I think he is one of the best guitarists in Brazil. His work made the guitar much more famous around here. Unfortunatelly, he never came to my city :(

I see that you're a big fan of the awesome band Electric Boys. I was perplexed with their album "And Them Boys Done Swang"!

Another Brazillian guitarrist that is awesome is Faiska. Check out this:

btw, Tiete River is a famous river in São Paulo. =]

Nightrain, Riverside is now on my list: "Bands to listen to carefully" =]

Thank you, The Rocker!

Welcome Lucas to the madhouse!

Hey, shutup. Don't scare him off. No mentioning the madhouse.

Welcome.

If you're looking for Prog bands to check out, here's a list from my collection -- many of them you may already be familiar with. Some are definitely heavier than others (including some Prog Metal), some more "proggy," and some very Floyd-ish, but I think most qualify as Prog to some degree or another:

Marillion
Enchant
A.C.T
Tomorrow's Eve
Magellan
Saga
Discipline
Threshold
Royal Hunt
Anathema
Tiles
Spock's Beard
OSI
Carptree
IQ
Moonspell
Pendragon
Vanishing Point
Day Six
Mind's Eye
Pain of Salvation
Systems Theory
The 3rd and The Mortal
Forgotten Silence

All Nights Reserved... Yeah... That's a great point!! You know... I live in the state with a 10:1 ration of women to men. :D

I love it here!!

Ok, Reverend. If I know anything I'll let you know ;)

    • Yeah, at the moment he's the only option for me here. A few guys I'm not really interested in and although EM was everywhere a few years ago, he definitely appears to have settled down recently. If anything, wouldn't mind seeing his name pop up a little more these days, though it's fine as is.
    • I've been a bit let down by recent albums but the genuine anticipation I feel for new material from these guys means they must have done something right through the years. Would absolutely love it if they unexpectedly hit another homerun.

    • Another greatest hits album! And even worse, live greatest hits: JACKYL : 30 Coming In Hot +3 New Tracks (2022) BY BANNED WEBSITE · PUBLISHED AUGUST 13, 2022   When many classic hard rock-related acts from their generation succumbed to trends, JACKYL has been strong & healthy for more than 3 decades. Now 2022 JACKYL are celebrating the 30th anniversary of their platinum debut album with the release of a new best-of collection titled ”30 Coming In Hot”. There has been a ‘best of’ from the band some years ago but this one is different: ”30 Coming In Hot” includes their best songs this time performed live, where they truly showcase their power, plus 3 brand new studio tracks. JACKYL earned two Guinness Book of World Records citations and the designation “The Hardest Working Band in Rock ‘N’ Roll” for performing 100 shows in 50 days as well as 21 shows in 24 hours. Yeah, JACKYL born to play live, and ”30 Coming In Hot” is really ‘hot’ indeed. Very well recorded, mixed & produced, the set is very, very good and entertaining, and you have 3 new songs to enjoy as well. Highly Recommended   01 – Another Round (New Studio Track) 02 – Get All Up in It (New Studio Track) 03 – Bad Decision (New Studio Track) 04 – Blastoff (Live) 05 – My Moonshine Kicks Your Cocaine’s Ass (Live) 06 – Encore (Live) 07 – Screwdriver (Live) 08 – Down On Me (Live) 09 – Push Comes to Shove (Live) 10 – Just Because I’m Drunk (Don’t Mean You’re Right) (Live) 11 – Secret of the Bottle (Live) 12 – I Stand Alone (Live) 13 – When Will it Rain (Live) 14 – Dirty Little Mind (Live) 15 – Redneck Punk (Live) 16 – Cut the Crap (Live) 17 – The Lumberjack (Live) Jesse James Dupree – Vocals, Guitar Jeff Worley – Guitar Chris Worley – Drums, Percussion Roman Glick – Bass   BUY www.amazon.com/Jackyl-30-Coming-Hot/dp/B0B5N9T45Y
    • I have no real opinion on the band's schtick. I do have an opinion on their earlier albums - they contained a lot of good songs. The last few... not so. Hope they can pull something out here but expectations aren't high
    • There’s bound to be an ADV fan somewhere 😂
