  1. Can't wait for a full-length release from these NYC lads: New EP Wired: 1) Everything 2) True Believer 3) I'd Understand 4) Don't Take Heaven Away From Me STATION is: Patrick Kearney - Vocals Chris Lane - Guitar Mike Anderson - Bass Brian Karl - Drums Official Site: http://www.stationband.com/ Listen to STATION songs: http://www.stationband.com/music or on Spotify
  2. Just thought of another one: Angel's version of the Young Rascals' "Ain't Gonna Eat Out My Heart Anymore" on their White Hot album.
  3. A few more that come to mind, courtesy of Mr. Russ Ballard: - Uriah Heep's version of "On The Rebound" (from the Abominog album) - Rainbow's cover of "Since You Been Gone" (from Down To Earth) I'd include Ace Frehley's cover of "New York Groove" (originally done by Ballard's band Hello), but I'm not sure even Ace's version counts as "hard rock," since it's only got a couple power chords in the chorus to qualify it.
  4. Call it a guilty pleasure, but I really liked Janet's original "Black Cat." Probably the only song of hers I can stomach because it's got Nuno Bettencourt rocking the riff.
  5. I would love to hear those! I have the "Unbelieveable" cover on their live Hasta la Vista album, and their Take Me Down To The River CD single has live covers of "Rock 'n' Roll" (Zeppelin), "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love" (Van Halen), and "Rock Candy" (Montrose) which are all fantastic. Also, I thought Thunder's version of "Gimme Some Lovin'" (Spencer Davis) was really well done. They nail it live.
  6. I see no one's mentioned Riot's cover of the Cliff Richard song, "Devil Woman" (on their Born In America album), so I will. That turned out pretty cool.
  7. I bought SO many albums strictly on sight that it's hard to remember any specific ones. I do know that I very frequently got burned, picking up some really shitty albums that way -- BUT since I usually bought them used, it didn't cost too much $$. I also recall one of the few times I rushed out to the local record store after hearing a song on the radio: Great White's Once Bitten, after hearing "Rock Me" -- thought it was so cool I had to have it. Unfortunately, they didn't back-announce the song on the radio so I had NO idea who it was -- I had to ask the dudes at the head shop/record store if they knew what I was talking about. Luckily they did.
  8. Back in the early '80s when I did most of my album buying (on vinyl, bitches) I used to go downtown to the massive used record store and spend hours flipping through the stacks. I'd usually take $20 and come away with a pretty good handful. My criteria sometimes came from word-of-mouth (friends who were into music) and often sources like Kerrang! magazine (really popular for hard rock/metal back then). I also bought a lot of albums on sight going simply off of the cover (hey, I was young and easily persuaded by "cool" cover art -- the record company production people really knew how to market to dupes like me). Those are great memories. Sadly, I ended up purging all those old LPs over the years as CDs started taking over. Nowadays the Interwebs and information superhighway (sites like this) REALLY make things easy!
  9. Going with Riskin' It All -- really good album. Was just listening to it the other day, actually.
  10. Gotta go with Mean Streak -- one of my top rock albums of the '80s, actually. They had everything working right on that album: songs, playing, production, Meniketti's Roger-Daltrey-meets-Sammy-Hagar vocals -- I love it. I'd put Black Tiger second, because it precedes Mean Streak with a good preview of what was to come. I don't think they came close to making any better albums than those two.
  11. Thanks, Paul -- I really enjoy your band. New album soon?
  12. BTW, The Acoustic Saxons would be a pretty cool band name.
  13. Acoustic Saxon? That could be . . . interesting.
  14. Peace, brother. Welcome aboard.
