CD Baby - Found a cool CD for sale

I'm not sure if there was already a topic like this but I thought of starting this topic so as people can share any nice finds on the CD Baby website. As we know, the CD Baby catalogue is massive and there is a lot of shit to sift through in order to find anything worth buying. So if you come across something that sounds promising (any genre), any good deals, or maybe something you have purchased from them in the past that is still available, feel free to let us know about it here.

I'll kick things off with a few CD's that I've just ordered.

U-Turn - No Filler (2003) USA

uturn.jpg

This one is listed in the HH's database (first band under "U"). The samples sound really cool, reminding me of Bon Jovi. Check out the samples for 'You Say', 'I Need You', 'I'll Come After You', 'One More Night' and 'Drift Away'. Very highly recommended.

U-Turn - In Your Face (2007) USA

uturn2.jpg

This is the 2nd (?and final) album for U-Turn. It's noticeably heavier and more perhaps more modern sounding than the first, though it still has plenty of appeal. Judging by the samples, it is probably stronger in the middle of the album with songs like 'Tender Eyes', 'The Change' and 'December Nights'. The album finishes off with some bonus tracks/demos of which 'Get Up' and 'United We Stand' sound really cool and could possibly be demos from the first album.

Both albums are available on CD for $12.97

Wow mate, thanks for the post. I had no idea these guys had a 2nd disc... it's on my want list for sure. That debut is excellent. Lacking in the production / backing vocals and overall vibe department, but at it's core the songs on it are simply excellent. Great hooks.

Definitely need to hear the 2nd one...

Yeah as far as I can tell from the samples, the 2nd album is the weaker of the two, but as I say has some cool songs in the middle and those demos at the end aren't bad either. I'm not really sold by their heavier and more modern songs. Though I'll wait until I actually get the CD before forming too much of an opinion.

Check out Malicious. Kind of a mix of Dokken and Dangerous Toys.

Nice one, I think I'll pick this up as well. That song 'Live Fast ('N Die Young)' sounds cool.

Yeah that Malicious CD sonds awesome. I used to buy at CDBaby back in 2005/2006 eg. the Big Cock CDs but shipping worldwide was free then. What is it these days?

Growing up in the Baltimore area I was really lucky to have so many great local bands to go see. Bands such as KIX, Child's Play, DC Star... and the much underrated band... The RAVYNS.

To this day one of my top 10 favorite releases of all time.

their search function is shit!

i see the Malicious listing above has Crashdiet as a band 'recommended if you like', but then you go to the advanced searh function and put in crashdiet in the 'sounds like' category... and it comes up 0 results.

Yup it is absolutely horrible. Same goes for Hastings search feature. Like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Too bad for some of those bands that would appeal to certain buyers but the buyers can't find them.

To Australia, postage without cases gets cheaper the more you buy. If you buy just one CD it's $5.57, if you buy 10 CD's it's $22.74 ($2.27/CD)

So probably a bit more than I would like to pay but if you can find 10 CD's to order it's not too bad.

This is one for the AOR fans. This band is on the HH databse too. They are compared to stuff like Journey, Styx, Loverboy etc.

Another band from Baltimore back in the day. Not as good as The Ravyns.. but good none the less.

Here's one of my favorites from CD Baby - a great AOR gem from 1987. Singer sounds like Mike Reno. Totally essential IMO.

Anyone know if this is any good?

gradycain.jpg

Ahh, the old "they look hair metal so maybe they are" LOL...that's how I use to by cd's growing up. Didn't hear a note of Cold Sweat, Valentine, and countless others but I saw the picture :)

Funny enough, I almost never struck out :) Well, these guys have the look but I can't get the preview button to work :(

Sounds GREAT to my ears!

The description on CD Baby about them sounding like Led Zeppelin is accurate, but in a more Cinderella, Britny Fox, Salty Dog, Great White way. I guess a little more amped up and not so "vintage" sounding.
