Blackrain - Lethal Dose Of...

For the Blackrain fans on this board. Seems like a lot of stuff here, I'll be checking it out. Their 2009 release License To Thrill was excellent so I hope for more of the same.

I remember there was something about the debut that didn't gel for me. I heard the opening track on this CD yesterday, though, and it was awesome. It really sounded like they're back to do something great. I'm really looking forward to hearing the rest of this thing.

I still haven't got a hard copy of the debut either. :(

BTW, title says "available now". Erm ... where???

Solid question. Only place I could see was here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Lethal-Dose-Black-Rain/dp/B004GF2UXA

Good luck buying it for that price, though. I think I'd rather a house, which pretty much costs the same as that CD.

No chance. The last time I paid that much for a CD was ... oh, wait, I've never paid that much for a CD.

There is a link at the top of their myspace page, takes you to here:

I can only guess that is about 16 euro and it is "en stock"?

A lot of nice website have an English version but I cannot see it for this one.

Their debut is still on Amazon UK for a reasonable price (less than GBP 10)

http://www.amazon.co.uk/License-Thrill-Black-Rain/dp/B002WNU0K8/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1298529143&sr=8-2-spell

the second album is probably still unreleased, that insane price Geoff pointed out is perhaps the Japanese imported version ?

I don't think it's meant for anyone outside France, I can't seem to find postage cost to other countries. Think I'll wait until it's on Amazon for a reasonable price (and they don't expect me to sell a kidney to buy it).

You can get it from Amazon.fr for the same price - works out about £20 with postage.

CDJapan had License To Thrill, for those willing to pay $30-35 maybe it is worth the wait to see if they have a Japan version and get that instead.

The CD is out, but I am guessing that distribution has not made it very far.

Got a sneaky listen to the new album last night... extremely good stuff. I think the reason the debut did not gel with me was due to the vocals which I found hard to understand. There is no doubt there is a thick accent and topped with that "sleaze accent" too... but he sounds much better this time.

They've really stepped it up in terms of song quality, imo, and there are some fantastic songs on this. Particularly, 'She's in Love,' 'Baby Shoot Me Down,' and 'Heart Screams.' Some absolutely awesome solos too.

Really a very strong CD and it's up close to Miss Behaviour and Bad Habit as the early releases to watch this year.

Even that is out of my price range these days. Hopefully it will be down to around the £12 mark on Amazon.co.uk before too long. It does sound like it f***ing rocks!

I agree, I listened to this last night and it is very good. They seem to really have the raw attitude and have transferred that to the music. Aside from the songs that Geoff mentions above, Get A Gun, Addicted To Failure, Dead Boy are great too. Actually I didn't hear a track I didn't like or at least find promise in the first few times through. Kick ass guitar work is what I noticed as well.

I have not listened to the Disc 2 tracks yet.

Yeah, I can't believe I forgot to mention 'Addicted To Failure' which is actually my fave off the disc. 'Dead boy' reminds me 100% of fellow killer sleaze band Sister. I love the opener too, 'Get a gun' but I have to admit that even a few listens in those opening gang vocal chants are annoying the shit out of me. Otherwise a great track.

Has anyone found it cheap yet?

This is gonna be my highlight of the year (if I can afford to buy the bloody thing...)

looks like it's still expensive. No sign of cheap one in Amazon UK, best thing I see is :

http://musique.fnac.com/a3399554/Blackrain-Lethal-dose-of-Edition-limitee-CD-album

but it's still 16 euro :(

At almost 1 Euro to £1, that's still too steep for me. Maybe it will appear cheaper on Amazon or eBay soon. Otherwise they're just encouraging illegal download, which sucks for a band trying to earn a few quid.

probably in a month or two, we can see a reasonable £9 disc on Amazon, cause their debut is there with that price, it's ridiculuos for them and the band to sell it 50% higher

    • Releases July 26. $47.08 at ImportCDs: https://www.importcds.com/dynamite-china-years-complete-recordings-1988-1993/5013929929920 8CD complete collection of recordings released by China Records. Featuring what most consider to be the classic line-up of The Dogs D'Amour; Jo 'Dog' Almeida on guitar, Steve James on bass, the onomatopoeic Bam on drums, and of course fronted by songwriter and singer, the inimitable Tyla. Propelled by the albums' three singles 'The Kid from Kensington', 'I Don't Want You to Go' and 'How Come It Never Rains' edging their way up the charts, when The Dogs D'Amour's genre-defining 1988 "debut" 'In The Dynamite Jet Saloon' (CD2) was released in 1988, it must have looked like the band was an overnight sensation. But this couldn't have been further from the truth. The Dogs D'Amour originally formed in 1983, and had already recorded two previous "debut" albums. First was 1984's now highly collectable 'The State We're In', for Finnish label Kumibeat. Further recordings were made in 1985 and 1986 for Watanabe Records in Japan, and it's the latter where this collection kicks off. 'The (Un)Authorised Bootleg Album' (CD1) was the record originally intended for Japan. The second set in this collection is the aforementioned In 'The Dynamite Jet Saloon' (CD2), bursting with classics. A highly prolific band in their earliest days, 'Errol Flynn' (re-titled 'King Of The Thieves' in the States) (CD3) was released in 1989 as was the extended mini-album, 'A Graveyard Of Empty Bottles Vol. 1' (CD4), a collection of acoustic songs that reached the UK Top 20. 1990 saw the release of '... Straight?!!' (CD5) featuring the singles 'Victims of Success', 'Empty World' and 'Back On The Juice'. Unfortunately, and in true rock 'n' roll tradition, the band split up on stage in Los Angeles in 1991. Thankfully the band regrouped for the self-explanatory '... More Unchartered Heights Of Disgrace' (CD6) in 1993. This eight CD collection is completed with no less than two discs of rarities, live tracks and B-sides with 'Singles, B-Sides & Rarities' (CD7) and 'Even More Singles, B-Sides & Rarities' (CD8), making this the most complete and comprehensive collection of the band's recordings for China.   - Disc 1 - 1 Firework Girl 2 Chains 3 Gold 4 Pourin' Out My Heart 5 Wait Until I'm Dead 6 How Do You Fall in Love Again? 7 Kiss This Joint 8 Heroine 9 Tales of Destruction 10 Dynamite Jet Saloon 11 Swingin' the Bottle - Disc 2 - 1 Debauchery 2 I Don't Want You to Go 3 How Come It Never Rains 4 Last Bandit 5 Medicine Man 6 Gonna Get It Right 7 Everything I Want 8 Heartbreak 9 Billy Two Rivers 10 Wait Until I'm Dead 11 Sometimes 12 The Kid from Kensington 13 The State I'm in - Disc 3 - 1 Drunk Like Me 2 Goddess from the Gutter 3 Hurricane 4 Satellite Kid 5 Errol Flynn 6 Planetary Pied Piper 7 Princess Valium 8 Dogs Hair 9 Trail of Tears 10 Ballad of Jack 11 The Prettiest Girl in the World 12 The Girl Behind the Glass 13 Things Seem to Go Wrong 14 Oooh!
