Wow - can't believe bands like this are still coming out in 2009. Love the pomp keyboards. Remind me of Storyteller. Promising stuff, would definitely pick up a CD (think one is due in 2010).

Wow - you can't get much more mid/late 80's MR sound than that!- It's Very nice though - 'Cross To Bare' & 'Crimes Of Passion' especially. Dut dut keys aswell, surely not! - They remind me alot of Prophet and Biloxi (amongst others) from those 3 tracks. Agree too about that guitar 'Wail' - sounds excellent. Will definitely keep an eye out for this lot.

At least the drummer has moved on to something that sounds decent after the truly shocking 'The Deadthings', which I see he was previously a member.

Yeah, I like !! Really good stuff ! Thanks for the tip, Andre ! :drink:

Btw., the singer and the bass player were both in "The Deadthings" as well. Don't tell the Geoffadillo, though !

Wow - from Shit to chocolate in one move. Good on 'em for getting out while they still had sense! ;)

Yeah, Lindsay mentioned these guys the other day in another thread where I went a little wild about them, calling them the best band I've heard come out of Australia since Teargas. These three songs are excellent.

But how the hell do you buy the EP? The link goes direct to the myspace page and I can't see anywhere to buy it?! If these guys release a well produced CD (the lack of decent production was the thing that killed The Deadthings, imo) then this'll be marvelous!

Funny... I ran into Jules again this year at Rocklahoma and he gave me a copy of the demo. I'm really digging 2 of the three songs (the third isn't bad either). I hope this release sees the light of day because I thnk many here will like this. Don't let the Deadthings connection scare you away from this one... make sure and check it out.

PS ~ Geoff, I'm not sure you can actually buy a copy of this yet. Hope it isn't too long before more songs are recorded and this thing becomes available.

Just out of curiosity, is this the end of The Deadthings? Are they finished or is Jules doing both gigs?

I'd be happy to see them both continue, but someone really, really needs to slap whoever is handling production on those Deadthings CDs with a cold fish. If they could replicate what they do live onto CD along with a beefy production job, we'd have something really nice on our hands.

AFAIK there are no plans for The Deadthings to end a they seem to be still in demand around various parts of the country.

Hope you've placed an order for the WW cd, it's on a very limited run from what I understand.

The promo CD's are all gone ! :(

But here is the MySpace message I received this morning. There is some hope still ......

============

Hi Bernd

Thanx for your interest, we don't have a CD available to purchase i'm sorry, there was some promo copies made which are all gone. We dont have much money, so we are using our money to record more songs rather than do a full CD production run. we are working towards a full album to be finished by the end of the year.

In the meantime we have just uploaded the three songs we recently finished for listening and after a couple more studio tweaks will have them available for free download with CD artwork in approx two weeks. The Artwork will be available for download with the three songs.

Thanx again!

Long live AOR!

Cheers,

Julez.

Nice. I hope these songs make the debut and then I won't care about missing the EP. :)

Agreed, I would've liked to get a copy of the EP. I'm really looking forward to their album.

My 4 copies are looking fabulous, Bernd pm me we'll work out a trade or I'll send you for free coz of your kind offer many years back.

Hey A, are they silver pressed?

Someone told me they were cdrs. (which would make sense if they only did a run of a couple of hundred).

My guess would be CDRs. That is what Julez gave me when I ran into him at the Rocklahoma show.

    • Yes this one's not bad. Have added to my playlist.
    • Another Robert Mason post, but this time I really do feel a connection with it. I'm sure I've mentioned it before, but my name is Dustin.  Everybody calls me Dusty, so when I saw the new Warrant album (Rockaholic) featured not only one of my favourite vocalists, but also included a track called Dusty's Revenge, I couldn't believe it. I then find out that it's a concept album about a "Rockaholic" called Dusty. For obvious reasons, I love this album. Here's a couple of tracks.
    • Harpsichord.    I thought of it and it was random, so there you go.
    • From their FB page: Alcatrazz wish to make the following announcement: Back in late 2020 the brilliant Doogie White came in to help us out with our then already booked live dates after the departure of the previous vocalist (those dates were ultimately postponed to late 2021 due to the Covid lockdowns). We all had a GREAT time...and thus, one thing led to another and before we knew it we had made two fantastic albums and toured considerably in a nearly 4 year period. Now our schedule is getting busier and busier, as is Doogie's with his very fine solo work... and with that, the inevitable clashing of dates in our respective diaries, and needless to say, the impossibility of him being able to be in two places at one time. We remain on very very good terms with Doogie and cannot thank him enough for his contributions to the band, he is very welcome on our stage anytime, as are all past Alcatrazz alumni. Current Warlord vocalist and someone already known to many Alcatrazz fans (as co-producer and also contributing songwriter for Alcatrazz's past 3 albums) Giles Lavery will be stepping up for the 2024 live dates - and with that we will be reintroducing many songs from the Alcatrazz past, including some not played in many years. Giles's first show is 22nd of March in New Orleans, lets all make him feel welcome and please lets also give a massive thank you to our dear friend Doogie White for everything he gave to this band since 2020, he is a true pro and a great person! Doogie has a video message to the fans that we will share later today as well. Jimmy, Gary, Joe, Larry.
    • Maybe it's because I've heard GnR a couple thousand times by now, but I much prefer "Fall to Pieces" by Velvet Revolver over "Sweet Child o Mine" at this point in my life.
    • I'll have to investigate that Durbin. I'd count Striker and Mick Mars among the best metal releases as well now that I think about it.
    • Haven't picked up Saxon yet, but as far as metal goes, I love the new Durbin album as well.
    • I wasn’t thrilled with the singles as they came out, other than “The Serpent and the King”, but I’ll be damned if they haven’t grown on me while listening to them as part of the cohesive package that is “Invincible Shield”. I broke down and picked up the Target exclusive to get the three bonus tracks, and I enjoy them too. Overall, a damn fine addition to the JP discography. Is it better than “Firepower“? I’m not there yet, but time will tell. 🤔 This one and Saxon have set the bar pretty high for metal this year. 👍
    • Agree with this. Though I think you should check out Firepower. You can get it real cheap new everywhere. It is molten. I'm also enjoying Invincible very much and 2024 new music as a whole.
