Someone corrected my thread regarding Chris Laney... apparently he's not producing, but he is mixing/mastering

Yeah, still good enough for me, though. As long as the guy/s who "produced" The Deadthings steer clear I'll be happy. ;)

Some additional info has come to hand that should impress alotta folks here...

Juno Roxas will do backing vox if his schedule fits.

Steve Simmons of Empire ( Cry , The Power, s/t ) will be doing be doing backing vox if his schedule fits.

The band are hoping to include "Wings" which is a De Arrow ( Pre Roxus ) tune. I suspsect this could be the Japaneses bonus track. Thier just waiting for the rights.

Yep, and further good news is that it appears as though the 3 tracks from that EP will all be re-recorded and given the Chris Laney treatment for the full-length CD. Awesome news, as I love those tunes.

With their debut Self Titled album, the full vision of White Widdow has become a reality. With absolutely no concerns about modern rock trends the band has followed their hearts and proudly wear their 80's influences on their sleeves . Mixed and Mastered by Martin Kronlun...d (Overland, Joe Lynn Turner, Hammerfall, Bangalore Choir) at JM Studios in Sweden, White Widdow have put together an album full of Melodic Rock and AOR anthems filled with swirling keyboards, blistering guitar playing and big choruses full of hooks, the way they believe rock music should.

I'll be all over this one when it comes out. 3 of the best samples I've heard in a few months, easily the most exciting samples of an upcoming release since H.E.A.T. I hope it's affordable and easy to find.

Have been listening to the full album promo last couple of days, and only thing I can say is: OUTSTANDING. I absolutely love this album, ten incredibly strong tracks, "Broken Hearts Won't Last Forever" is simply a stunning uptempo AOR track, "We've Got The Wings" is keyboard laden melodic rock bliss, and "Cross To Bare" has become one of my favorite melodic hard rock songs...ever...in the space of two days. I lapped up "Mr. Scary: The World Can Wait" earlier this year like a starving alleycat, and it's nothing short of sensational to be treated to another Aussie gem within the same year. Oh, did I mention "Don't Fail Me Now" might be the best mid-tempo ballad this side of 1989. Just a fantastic song accentuated by a huge chorus. Many might not be as blown away, but I'd be real surprised if most on this site don't rank this right up there with H.E.A.T., Work Of Art, W.E.T.. Who knows, maybe my lust for this album will calm over time, but right now I've reserved a spot on the shelf right next to "Strangeways: Walk In The Fire" for my soon to be purchased copy of this CD. Buy or die :headbanger:

The band are gonna love reading this review! Sadly someone has uploaded the entire promo online. I suppose some positive in that are that it'll now be accessible to a whole lot more peeps that dont believe in buying cds & I guess the appreciative fans will go on to buy the cds :)

Right now the album's at an 9.5 out 10 for me :):beerbang:

Yeah, I saw this had hit the online world over the weekend. As soon as I saw it I went on the hunt to pre-order it... couldn't find it anywhere yet, but rest assured I'll be on this asap. SO excited about this one.

Just from an Aussie perspective, even though these guys are Aussie I'm guessing that because it's through AOR Heaven there won't be a cheaper postaged Aussie version? Also, are the Aussie gigs with Ted Poley the official launch dates for the CD here? If so, that's marked in my calendar so I might just pick up my copy then. :)

I think there is an album launch about 5th November at 'Back In the Day'. Don't quote me on that though... that's just off the top of my head. Hopefully the album will be available thru the band so aussie don't have to import it.

Agreed. I raped their myspace site last night looking for a place to pre-order but as noted, couldn't see one yet. Would love to score local shipping rates on this one. :)

Wow - here's my 2 cents. I met Jules at Rocklahoma 2008. Extremely cool dude and we got on really well. I am very happy he's doing the 80s AOR thing and it's always very difficult for me to say anything negative but after checking out the tunes I am really surprised at the excitement surrounding this band. Jules just isn't really THAT good of a singer. He's ok but certainly no Kip Winger , Jeff Scott Soto or Robert Mason. And the songs are good but not outstanding. I don't know , I wasn't as thrilled as the rest of you are about this project. Kudos for keeping it AOR but now I know how excited y'all get about above average AOR albums , I guess it's time to record one for myself - LOL. Don't take this as negative , I just don't see or hear the big thrill. Have you not listened to the live footage they have on youtube? ummm...yeh.

Anyhoo , just my 2 cents. Good stuff but not essential IMO.

    • Maybe it's because I've heard GnR a couple thousand times by now, but I much prefer "Fall to Pieces" by Velvet Revolver over "Sweet Child o Mine" at this point in my life.
    • I'll have to investigate that Durbin. I'd count Striker and Mick Mars among the best metal releases as well now that I think about it.
    • Haven't picked up Saxon yet, but as far as metal goes, I love the new Durbin album as well.
    • I wasn’t thrilled with the singles as they came out, other than “The Serpent and the King”, but I’ll be damned if they haven’t grown on me while listening to them as part of the cohesive package that is “Invincible Shield”. I broke down and picked up the Target exclusive to get the three bonus tracks, and I enjoy them too. Overall, a damn fine addition to the JP discography. Is it better than “Firepower“? I’m not there yet, but time will tell. 🤔 This one and Saxon have set the bar pretty high for metal this year. 👍
    • Agree with this. Though I think you should check out Firepower. You can get it real cheap new everywhere. It is molten. I'm also enjoying Invincible very much and 2024 new music as a whole.
    • I remember my early days on the internet joining a group on Yahoo (yeah thats how long ago it was) and the woman who created the group was trying to persaude me how great Creed was, so much so that she sent me the first two albums on CD. I had no idea what they sounded like. When I played them all I could think is that they sounded like Pearl Jam, and I fucking hate Pearl Jam. I ended up trading them for something better. I can't remember the ins and outs of it, but I somehow shared my CD collection online and she noticed straight away that the Creed CDs were not listed. She asked me why and I said I sold them as really did not like them, and got something I did like. She never spoke to me again after that
    • Like I Do,Do - Bret Michaels
    • I have always been an on/off fan of Priest. Loved Ram it down and Painkiller, then kinda lost interest when Rob left. Only newer albums I ever got around to picking up were Angel of retribution because I saw it real cheap and Nostrodamus as I found the deluxe edition cheap as well. With this one though I was interested in what I heard and saw the deluxe edition looked cool. I then saw they were selling copies on the JP website with a signed art card in both standard and deluxe format, but baulked at the price of the deluxe as they were charging an extra £10 over the unsigned version, and postage was lumpy ... plus I was a few days from getting paid. By the time I went back on there the signed deluxe was gone but they had the standard version with the signed card and it was the same price as the unsigned version (guess nobody was buying it) so decided to buy that and order the deluxe from Amazon, keep the artcard and sell the standard CD on eBay as it is still sealed. So yeah, been playing the album today and on my third (or is it fourth) playthrough, and absolutely loving it. When bands like Bon Jovi are  getting soft as shit with age, Rob and the guys are still full on metal gods. At 72, Rob should not be able to still perform like this, but he fucking well is, so more power to him. Really good start to the year so far with the 2024 albums I have picked up.
    • Evidently, Tichy has joined up with Gene Simmons' solo band, and the Daisies replaced him with Tommy Clufetos who'd helped them out before. Be interesting to see how much more there is to the story....
