Okay, so I'm willing to open my doors to all you knuckleheads if you're into it. Going with Terry's suggestion for starters, how about June 27, 2009 at my house? I figure it's roughly midway between the western US and Western Europe and all points in between where most of us seem to hail from.

I'm also open to other suggestions, but since no one said anything I'm throwin' my hat in the ring. I've got 3.5 acres, a deck and a grill which I know how to use. I would propose this to be a family friendly event in most respects, although there will most certainly be beer and possibly a band or two?

What are your thoughts? Let's plan this baby and make it happen. If an alternate location/venue is proposed I am more than willing to give that a go as well.

Who's up for it? :beerbang:

It's plenty of notice so I think if I started saving now and at the same time started working on the wife I should have an ok by May '09. We'd probably get a sitter for the kids and have it be just her and I, with it being a nice little trip out to the East Coast.

Would be KILLER! Why 2009 though?

I suggested that just so I could start recouping some $$$ after a long lay off... Figured by summer of 09 should be in the $ again and ample to time to finalize all the details.

Okay, makes sense. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone! Should be awesome!

Holidays being well (I can't book that far in advance at work, but I will sort something) Count me in. Always wanted to come over to the US, so this is as good an excuse as anything. Nothing too much to arrange here bar plane ticket etc. Pete - you may be able to advise me on a few hotels etc, nearer the time, 'cos if I come over, I was thinking of obviously staying over for a few days and take in some of the sights as well . Excellent idea and I hope a few people will be able to make this. :drink:

Travel info... I don't think I can forward my travel site search results, but you would want to search (I use Orbitz.com or Sidestep.com) for hotels near Whitehouse Station, NJ 08889. Airports I would recommend Newark, NJ (EWR) which is by far the closest, Philadelphia, PA (PHL) isn't bad either and lastly JFK in NY (JFK) which is a crappy airport and a shitty ride, but may be the best choice for the international travelers. I find myself having to fly out of there more often than not when traveling abroad. Time permitting, I will do my best to assist anyone up to and including picking you up at the airport if I can.

Basically whatever I can do to make this easier for any of you I will do, this would be totally worth it IMHO. :)

Part of the point of it is to get everyone together as opposed to separate international chapters. Separate meets would defeat that purpose. The next one would be at another location more convenient for those living in Western Europe most likely, at least that's the way we're looking at it so far... :)

I think that this may be 'doable'......and probably an interesting time for sure. I'd definitely like to meet the members here, especially my brethren from 'across the pond', so to speak!

Can you drive to upstate New York, convince my wife to let me go, drive me back to your place, pay for all my food/lodging, then drive me back home when the event is over? That'd be swell. Oh yeah, and bring me some free Rockarma & Farcry CDs. Thanks. You're da best.

    • I saw from Magnus on You Tube in the video premiere that it's just a one off single that is being released on Vinyl.  There is no album coming in near future. Although, I still wouldn't be surprised to see a deluxe edition of Megalomanium at some point with this song on it.
    • I've seen the term 'Acetards' used a bit on Facebook lately.i guess some people get him. I've never seen him really as a singer at all. He made some earlier stuff work but since then the fun of his weird voice wore off and now it's just embarrassing.
    • He's known as a fearsome predator of the ocean but he's also known for catching rats on land.
    • Predicting that a LeBrock song will be good is kind of like predicting that intimate intercourse with this would probably feel pretty nice
    • Nice to hear that AOR had a big influence on someone that grew up past the 80's music scene. Good writing and the 80's movies someone is putting the songs to really helps bring the songs out. I went through a bunch of the synthwave songs on  this site, not a genre I ever looked at much. Sounds like some decent stuff there, might have to pay more attention to it.

    • At 1980 are a synthwave due cosisting of Adrian Quesada Michelena from Spain and Josh Dally from England. It started out as a personal project for Adrian who was born in 1980, hence the name. He contacted Josh for a vocal performance on a more or less finished track at the time and then they worked together on another track this time cowriting it and voila At 1980 as a duo was born. The AOR influence you hear comes from the fact Adrian is a big fan of melodic rock.
