This is one of the greatest if not the greatest Heavy Metal release of all time IMO.

Bruce's 1st release with the band and they were able to take everything to whole other level.

I've include the song 'Total Eclipse', even though it wasn't on the orignial release, it was the b-side to "Run to the Hills" and has been icluded on the cd since it's re-released the last few times.

As for my favorite I have to with "Children of the Damned", not only is it my fav from this album but it might be my fav Maiden song of all time.

"22 Acacia Avenue" is a very close second, and "Hallowed be Thy Name" is a classic as well.

I'm sure "Run to the Hills" will get the most votes but I'm just sick of that song and the title track.

Ohhhh, Wes, you BASTARD... this is like asking someone to name their favorite child... "Hallowed Be Thy Name?" "Number of the Beast?" "Run To The Hills?" "Children of the Damned?" Gonna have to think this one over and get back to ya.... it's impossible to choose right now!!

I know what you mean, but just pick one.

Funny story, when I lived in Colorado I used to listen to this cd on the way to work all the time. When I would get to 22 Acacia Avenue I would always be at the same stop light and on my left everytime was this Dental office called "Acacia" Dental. I always thought that was a little strange. Around this same time the Apartment I was living in was located a block from an intersection of Dickinson and Birch avenues. So I had a bussiness with a word from a Maiden song title, and a street with Maiden's singer and Maiden's producers names.

Steve Harris' killer bass riff was what made "Number Of The Beast" one of the all time best songs. If I had to introduce somebody to Iron Maiden, this would be the song I would use.

'Number Of The Beast' for me, although most of the album is pretty huge. My fave Maiden album and one of the best Brit metal albums ever (along with Saxon's Wheels Of Steel)!!!

Hallowed Be Thy Name :banger:

Same here. And actually Prisoner is one of my favorites on this CD as well.

Yes, f'n classic tune, that was my fav back in the day easy, but as I "matured" (and I use that term loosely) I started to appreciate the dynamics of Hallowed... There was this band back when I was in highschool, man they did a kickass versio of that tune and a bunch of other Maiden. Good shit, brings back the memories...

24 years after first hearing this album, I still love it. "22 Acacia Avenue" is my fave on the CD.

I hear ya. Great album. Great Band. 22 Acacia Avenue is a Great Tune. Probably my fave by the band except for Can I play with Madness.

I'm gonna go against the tide here and vote for "The Prisoner." I always loved that "I AM NOT A NUMBER, I AM A FREE MAN" intro.

    • To be honest, it doesn't really concern me if he did or didn't. I put it out there are a kind of olive branch (ie: not everything is completely imaginary and made up) Not many lives were well documented 2000 years ago. Likelihood is that he existed, and had some small amount of notoriety. Was killed and became a Randy Rhodes or Jeff Buckley. A lot more famous after death than when alive. The bibles changed over the years, his exploits became more impressive and eventually  became a demi god. Ironically I love easter and Jesus stories. They make great stories
    • That's really not proven. Opinions split. On the balance of it there is a fair chance he existed but it cannot be proven definitively he did.  His life isn't well documented outside of the bible.  It's long but this is a good video on the topic.
    • I thank that may be partially due to his delivery style. He'll read part of a quote/sentence/article, make a pithy remark, lather rinse repeat. So it takes him a while to get through things and for the full point to come across. I think if he cut down his breaks by 50% it would be much more digestable. Still, as Lefties go, he's seemingly got more brain power and common sense than many...
    • New song 'Irreversible'. From Frontiers: 'Irreversible' is a new single from Norway's Big City. The track is from the recording sessions for their most recent studio album, "Testify X", which is out now. Fans of bands such as Firewind, Queensryche, Magnus Karlsson's Free Fall, Europe, Fair Warning, and the like should look forward to being introduced to this exciting band.
    • Yeah mate, that's definitely them through and through. Maybe slightly "ballsier" in recent years, but if you dig that you'll dig their gear.
    • I was meant to see Crazy Lixx too, and it turned into a massive fuck-around. They didn't end up coming to Australia after a massive failed festival event. I think they were still headed here, but it was right at the start of covid and I think that may have been a factor in them cancelling too. Pretty devastating at the time, but thankfully Reckless Love had more testicular fortitude and that was one of, if not my favourite (and as fate would have it, last) concert outing so far.
