  1. Killswitch Engage - s/t Threshold - 'Dead reckoning'
  2. Well to answer your question - it probably took 2 minutes. And that's because they're shit lyrics. Same as the Steel Panther ones. There is no skill here that a 13 year old having watched the first couple of "American Pie" films couldn't replicate, and it takes far more skill to write a song with some meaning/longevity outside of giving a handful of teenage kids a giggle. But my point is that it's a complete waste when clearly so much time has gone into the musicianship (some of the solos are awesome especially) that they couldn't have taken the serious musicians path instead of just being a joke band. And I whole heartedly disagree. The lyrics while smutty, well thought out and carefully constructed. You have your opinion and I have mine. If you think its a total waste, I am sure that the record sales and tickets they regularly sell to punters clamouring to see them would say the opposite. Hey look, I don't dislike this at all. It's pretty funny stuff & awesome production/playing. It's just that it has no longevity IMO. I'm also not surprised they're selling records when you can get their CD for £5.99! However the true test is whether they make a 2nd and 3rd album, & whether they can keep the lyrical content fresh. Btw, I saw them live at Download and they were pretty damn good - but they didn't exactly have one of the biggest crowds of the day... Yep, gotta agree with Howdy. To say that it takes no skill to write genuinely funny lyrics is completely incorrect, imo. Yes, they're seemingly "childish" at times, but no one can deny there is actually some really funny shit on this disc. Much more effort than; 'My baby left me and I cried and I hope she comes back - Hold on to our love please, sweetheart.' As I said above with my Kane Roberts comparison, I need names. Who are you actually comparing these guys to when you say the lyrics are so inferior? This is not a go at the music because I love the same music as you (well, a lot of it anyway), but generally the lyrics we listen to are inane love song drivel, fighting for your dreams and rocking all day and night. There is no substance to 90% of the lyrics in the music we listen to on this site but it's never stopped any of us here from loving it. As I said above, these guys have done something different and creative and they seem to be getting nailed for trying to put a bit of flare and excitement into what can be a tiring genre in recent times. As for Download, I obviously wasn't there but I heard that people couldn't get into the Steel Panther tent because it was packed out and that they had a huge crowd for the small space they were assigned?
  3. Well, the computers are f*cked here at work and that song sounds like it might just be a filler kind of thing, but I'm kind of interested to hear the 5 songs these chumps appear to have recorded.

    China

Great song - what ever happened to the new CD?
  5. Awesome. BTW, I still can't see the picture in the back of that other picture. When I expand it it over-pixelizes.
  6. I just heard this and 'Grand Illusion' for the first time tonight - VERY impressed. Really liked them both. wow.... you're just now hearing these guys?? I'll hook you up with "Afterlife", "Shadowland", and "New World Messiah". If you dug those last two discs, you should dig the rest of their catalog with Johnny. Yeah, it's another Edguy situation. I'd seen the name everywhere but just thought they were not my scene at all musically. As I said in another thread, always thought the name sounded like a doom metal band or something. Definitely glad I got to check them out.
  7. Sorry mate, hate these kind of CDs but have you checked out Silver's CDs? They're generally pretty good, I have to admit. I think there's about 4 now. Also, a lot of the current Finnish bands have this type of sound, as well as *cringe* HIM, to a degree.
  8. 'Death to all but metal' - Steel Panther
  9. What do they actually sound like? I found a myspace link... will listen asap: http://www.myspace.com/snakeofedenrocks
  10. I just realised that all I drunk over the weekend was milk with breakfast each day and beer. I didn't have a single other beverage, except for one shot of Bourbon and Galliano on Saturday too. But how extreme is that? Not even a soft drink of juice with lunch.
  11. Nice. Great disc. Would love to hear these guys with a great production job and bigger backing vocals. In fact, I'd love to hear this CD re-recorded with a great production job and bigger backing vocals.
  12. Why can't you go fucking topless? That sounds ridiculous. Can you believe it's fucking Monday again? Hey, Monday. Fuck you.

    Hi All

Hey Dahun. Welcome aboard mate. Just out of curiosity, which state are you in? BTW, watch out for Matt... he preys on fellow Australians. And by that I mean he sexually molests them.
  14. My eyes are like polar bears.
  15. No one gave me money and it's f*cking winter here.
  16. Good God man - have you only just listened to these?? Two of my fav albums. Stunning choruses all over the place and awesome vox. Dont go back much further in their discography as the albums before are not quite as strong IMO. Newie soon - cant wait! Yep, first time I heard them, mate. My good man Chris (Clutch) threw these CDRs in the last package of trades we did. To be honest, didn't put 'em on for ages and I was just cleaning out the house on the weekend and saw them, thought I may as well give them a go. I've never even really considered the band before because of the name (sounds like doom metal or something) but I was extremely pleasantly surprised! The Panic Channel - 'One' ; this has to be removed from my collection Threshold - 'Subsurface' ; this does not.
  17. Sorry mate not too sold on those samples at all. Very, very light / poppy. Think I'll leave this one to you guys.
  18. Yeah, great stuff. Looking foward to a full disc.

    Cellout

I dig it. Good stuff. Great chorus.
  20. Who won't you eat my face particles?!
  21. nice Geoff bet I could beat you in the personal debt stakes You're on. "Winner" has to pay the other person's mountain of debt off.
  22. Nicw work mate. My pants are off for you.
  23. I've never seen a "vocalist" more exposed than he is on his thankfully short passage on this album. Seriously, I wish he'd just perish for good. 'Make you mine' - Stryper
  24. I just heard this and 'Grand Illusion' for the first time tonight - VERY impressed. Really liked them both.
  25. I don't think anyone actually dislikes this, I certainly don't. They're good players and it's definitely fun & amusing stuff - it's just that with only humour/smutty jokes instead of killer hooks then this is not a keeper disc IMO, just a one-spin only.... Wow mate, you know I'd have your child but just how much of this have you actually heard? No hooks? Then I guess Bon Jovi, Danger Danger and the entire 80's hard rock scene had no hooks either? Mate, this is as hooky as music possibly gets. I have had not only one, but literally every single song off this in my head from the time I first heard it. I dare you to listen to 'Girl from Oklahoma' and not be singing "Come on pretty baby suck my balls all night" all weekend! I get the impression you may not have heard this but think it's some Spinal Tap / Bad News / Fozzy / The Darkness garbage. This is NOTHING like any of those, mate. This is high caliber "commercial" hard rock n' roll, just with "adventurous" lyrics. Seriously, for that price pick it up and I have a genuine feeling you might be pleasantly surprised.
