  1. I had a shot about an hour ago - Bourbon mixed with Galliano. It was fucking terrible but I'm thinking of round two... maybe Scotch and Baileys.
  2. It rained most the day today so I listed a heap of CDs on ebay and cleaned the living f*ck out of this place. As I drunk beer and listened to music. Not a bad day at all, to be honest.
  3. Nice, mate. I remember I was ahead of you recently... wonder how that's going.
  4. First weekend I've been home for as long as I can remember and I've been playing tunes since I woke up right up till now. Some features: Nocturnal Rites - 'Grand Illusion' and 'The 8th Sin' ; both excellent. Surprise of the night. Cheap Trick - 'Special One' ; absolutely f*cking terrible. Man these guys suck. Hey Mercedes - 'Everynight fireworks' ;crap Pump - 'Breakdown to breakthrough' ; cracking disc. Private Line - 'Evel Knievel Factor' ; good stuff Refugee - 'Life goes on' ; terrible, to be honet. Remedy Drive - 'Daylight is coming' ; good stuff Rooster - s/t ; shit aside from a nice song or two. Roulette - 'Pull the trigger/Reloaded' ; thought it might click with spin 2, but no. This sucks dog balls. Torben Schmidt - 'A bit on the side' ; great stuff Senses Fail - 'Still searching' ; great stuff. Shadows Fall - 'Threads of life' ; decided to spin this, and not bad at all. Sick City - 'Nightlife' ; great disc. Simon Chase 'The witch doctor' ; average. Skagarak - s/t ; excellent. Skitzotik - s/t ; excellent. So They Say 'Life in surveillance' ; great disc, especially the first few songs - amazing. Sound The Alarm - 'Stay inside' ; good disc, some cool guitar work. Strange Celebrity - 'Remedy' ; patchy, but genuine highlights on this one.
  5. Uh-oh... sounds like the rest of the stuff we've been hearing from him from the last few years. Shame, with Voss on guitars there was potential here for goodness. Still, I'll give it a go but I don't like this - " Elsewhere, what the material is really lacking is strong and memorable choruses that are pretty much a pre-requisite for this genre " Would love to hear the cover of 'Take my heart and run' too.
  6. I honestly just don't bother with EPs at all unless it's an exceptional case, but I have to say that 'Last train home' song is magnificent. Really liked that one.
  7. Yeah, that was the other example I was thinking of. We all have our favourite movies and TV shows that we might buy box sets or DVDs of... and we don't get sick of them. I just don't get why this CD seems to be the sole exception some people are making it out to be. As we have all said many times, it's the songs that matter. And there is no disputing the fact that these guys have recorded a disc FULL of killer songs.
  8. I did a long time ago. Fuck believing. lol. Believing is for the fucking believers.... I don't fucking believe it!
  9. Due to the huge involvement in this thread, I may as well mention that these guys actually released an album in 2008 (Yeah, I only just found out myself) called 'Sincerely, Wasting Away'. Just heard it yesterday and it ain't bad. I don't think it's going to be as good as the first 2 albums but the second song, 'Free' was really excellent, if nothing else.
  10. This one might be worth checking out for a few chumps here. Again, looks like they're only available on Itunes, and if the download I have is at a good bitrate, I dare say the production may not be that great... but this one is about on par with American Radio, imo. Don't be fooled by the heavy looking myspace page and album cover as these guys are no strangers to a few ballads and very pussy-whipped lyrics. But they're not bad. Some good stuff on this disc. Check them out here: http://www.myspace.com/greeneyestare
  11. Here's a band to check out for fans of Crashdiet, Crazy Lixx and Hardcore Superstar. Hailing from Norway these guys have released a pretty fine CD in 'Rocktales'. Hear some samples here: http://www.myspace.com/molotowrock I'd be interested to hear the debut, 'Feat. Rock n' roll' from 2007.
  12. I've had this one, Hunter and Green Eyed Stare on heavy rotation at home and I have to say I am digging this. Yeah, it's exactly the same as all his other CDs and the songs sound like they're from the same recording sessions... but it'd be a good (10 year) recording session! Seriously, some good stuff here. I think track 5 was an early fave, with a nice big melodic chorus. But as always, solid as hell.

    Nural

Still warming to 'Entitlement' guys. Definitely a good CD, but I still think, personally, there are a few better discs this year. But it is very nice. On another note, actually enjoying the debut quite a bit too. After a few spins when it sinks in, 'Weight of the world' really quite a good slab of modern rock. Nowhere near as good as 'Entitlement', but a really good disc.
  14. Toss the tusks in the fire and let us dance around it as though we were praying mantises!
  15. Have you guys noticed Nick's and Jez's avatars are similar colours and easily confused?
  16. I did a long time ago. Fuck believing. lol.
  17. 'Community property' - Steel Panther ; the pre-solo about his dick being a free spirit that can't be restrained, no you just can't chain it bringz teh major lolz.
  18. Still never heard the 2nd one, but I agree. 'Evolution' is one amazing disc. Absolutely love that one. Essential stuff.

    Is it ?

I hope you're not forgetting the red streak in the black fringe when you're dying that hair, mate.
  20. Yep, put me down as one who hates digipacks too. Jewel cases all the way for me.
  21. Nice mate. Nice. Adventure and party hard. Sounds like fun.
  22. Haven't heard about this one. Who else is involved?
  23. Now owning this I can say that I agree with you 110%. It's a shame because the music just fucking smokes! But listening to it for the second time today, I was actually glad when the CD was over and my player switched to the next disc (which happened to be the new Primal Fear ). Anywho, I guess it depends what your tastes are and usually I'm not big into lyrics, but these were kind of funny once and then got really stale, really quick. As Jez said, just a bit too predictable. It'd bee nice if these guys would record an album with non goofy lyrics under a different band name. Exactly what I was thinking when I first heard the album. They are getting lots of attention at the moment and are being called everything from a Joke, a Parody, a Comedy HM band, you name it. A Fair few people will get bored of the lyrics pretty quickly I reckon, and I think they would be so much better and have much longer lasting appeal if they really toned it down next time - alot more people will appreciate them and they will last alot longer, although obviously this will go against what they are trying to do I suppose. At the moment - 2 albums tops in my opinion. Sorry guys, I know I said it above but I just so, 200% + disagree with you guys here. It is honestly not in my mind capacity to understand why these lyrics should/would have less longevity than any other lyrics. For example, what's a song we all love? Let's say, for the sake of this argument we all dig 'Fighter' by Kane Roberts. Just a completely random selection, but pick any song in the world and I'll argue this case. What is it about the lyrics in 'Fighter' by Kane Roberts that makes that song timeless and a song like 'Fat Girl', 'Asian Hooker' or 'Community property' not? Just because the lyrics are funny? Why don't we get sick of Johnny's story about being a fighter and giving it all you got and never giving up? To me that's a lot more tiring lyrically, but it's a stunning song and I'll love it to the day I die. 'Cause I just like good songs. And good songs aren't just good temporarily. We've alll admitted this album kicks absolute f*cking ass, so why won't it next year or ten years from now??? Sounds like pop music mentality to me. Sorry guys, I just don't get it. Fate wrote funny songs - love them as much as the day I first heard them. To each their own, but to me every CD I am hearing at the moment is paling in comparison to this and I am always hungry to put it back in my CD player. I have NO issue whatsoever with the lyrics and I, for one it seems, would be disappointed if they toned it down for future releases. I just don't understand why they have to sound like everyone else to have longevity...
