  1. Maybe I'll give it another crack - at least see what's out there, properly. I'm not sure there'd be much of what you or Auslander above are suggesting, where I'm looking, but I should double check. Because to be fair, I've always had that part of my mind that never stopped thinking that way - eg. I buy Southern Sons and Rick Price CDs to maybe sell if I ever see them, and anything else that seems kind of "rare," even to a lesser extent. But yeah, I think in these pawnbrokers / charity shops, it does generally seem to be some really mainstream stuff. But maybe one more look is warranted. Also, just on your last point... you still scan stuff? Everything I list on ebay is always 100% just photos taken with my phone. I find it saves a tonne of time I used to waste on prepping auction pics. You ever considered that route? I also never use the stock images, but yeah, pics using your phone are the ticket for me, personally.
  2. Which is very easy to understand. You still have much luck with this, Dan? Assuming postage costs are similar in the US to what they are in Australia, I feel like we've been priced out of this sort of activity in Australia, sadly. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I stopped bothering with this because of postage costs... and that was a long time ago! It's a hell of a lot worse now, today. But I will admit that recently I have been selling a lot of old magazines on ebay and although most of them are local sales - and those postage costs are still criminal - I do get the odd order from overseas, even with the insane postage costs. So I guess it's about being in the right place at the right time. When I think of the music you generally get from second hand CD stores outside of "our genre/s," it's all pretty typical kind of stuff. Stuff that's charted and sold well. At least that's what I see. Is there really any interest in that at all? I ask genuinely as I have boxes in my garage of CDs a friend gave to us, and I drive past at least five second hand shops during work every day, all with large CD collections they're basically giving away. But is there still value in taking the plunge to resell on ebay?
  3. Nice tune. They're a pretty decent band when they incorporate more clean vocals into their tunes. 'Standing Still' was one of my favourite songs of the year in 2021 off their 'Aurora' album.
  4. Haha, yep, I hate that kind of vagueness. I always think either say it, or just don't mention it at all. I assumed he might be talking about Nikki Sixx maybe getting his hands all over it and turning into his own project, but like you say, was it just another random producer? Reading these things aren't good for curious minds. Either way, both songs sound like pretty solid heavy rockers. On a side note, had no idea Bunton was such a prolific songwriter. He's certainly been around the traps throughout his career.
  5. I like that, a lot. Funny you mention BBABH on the last song because it was the first thing I thought of as I listened to the first two tracks too. Definitely appear to be heavily influenced by them, which is a good thing. I'll be sure to check out what I can from these guys. I assume all their early stuff is just full metalcore, but I'm curious about the 'Hyperactive' album from 2021 to see if that's any good.
  6. Not the reaction I was expecting in this thread, but I guess all y’all probably dig his full discography. As someone only interested in two of his albums, this one is a bit of a horror show for me, personally. Maybe about on par with my thoughts on new King Kobra album. 😬
  7. Lol. Well that’s one thing it’s got going for it, at least. Ten times better than King Kobra, imo.
  8. Not a bad tune. Big riffage... I don't mind it at all. Glad to see this one finally getting some kind of release date. Big sound.
  9. Yeah, I find it irritating but I do actually "get it." If you're putting your clocks back that means it's the end of daylight savings time there, innit? So you don't want daylight savings time at all, meaning your clocks would already be back that hour for the rest of time? Or you want permanent what we now call daylight saving time? Is that what y'all wish for? Anyway, I get daylight savings time when it happens, otherwise you'd be having 4:30am sunrises in the middle of summer. 7pm sunset would still be pretty decent, though. And permanent daylight savings time would mean sunrise at almost 8am in the middle of winter, for a 6pm sunset. That's a long dark morning, but I guess it's all relative. If it always was either one of those it would just be normal. Seems weird as it'd be abnormal to change now, but I guess you'd adjust to either one soon enough. But I'm curious about which one y'all actually want to keep? I'm assuming you actually want permanent daylight savings time, for the longer afternoon?
  10. New album just released; VRSTY - Levitate 1 . Fuck You Forever 2 . Back To Back 3 . No Chill 4 . Black & Blue 5 . Wide Awake 6 . Dangerous 7 . The Plug 8 . The Way It Is 9 . Doomed 10 . Kill The Rich (Feat. Andy Cizek) 11 . Glad You Came 12 . Powerless (Feat. Lexxe) 13 . Can You Love Me? 14 . The Feeling 15 . Levitate Love this one; A few other choice cuts; Just realised they're all the softer songs on the disc, but it's not a soft disc by any means. This is the album opener and more in line with what to expect from the album;
  11. Man this is an acquired taste well beyond my acquired taste buds. I just didn't enjoy this one single bit. I guess 'Take Me to the Light' is probably the most likely stab at something older melodic rock fans might still enjoy from this, but even that's still way off target for me. I'd trust that Jez is spot on with what his influences are on this album, which also explains why it's miles away from anything I could ever see myself enjoying. But I still need to give it at least one spin. Funnily enough, I spun this yesterday and was all like, how did I ever like anything from this dude, lol? But as fate would have it, going through my 1992 albums, I was going through the R's today and his debut came into my speakers. So many killer songs, reminding me why he at least deserves that quick peek in to see if he's doing something I don't hate again... but alas, he is not. I really dislike his voice, but for whatever it's worth, this is one set of vocal chords that seems pretty close to what it was 30 years ago... for better or worse.
  12. Yeah, this one's not a bad album. I'd need a time machine to try and figure out when Steve Overland was on an album this decent. Some nice AOR, and also a couple of ballsier moments that I was expecting too. It's not an album full of keepers for me, and I still wouldn't call it a complete home run, but it's a damn find stab at it. Favourite tracks would be 'Disconnected,' 'Together Alone,' 'Last Breath,' album highlight 'Really Makes You Wonder' and two fine closers in 'Under The Blood Red Sky' and 'Walk With Me.' Yeah, well above par in terms of recent output from Overland, which is nice to hear.
  13. Jeez, sadly, I just find this new album to be absolute garbage. They're so drowned out in noise and effects you just get no sense for the song anymore. I could sing half these songs and with the layers of effects and shit they put all over everything you'd barely be able to tell the difference between me and her. I guess this is what some of the kids do these days, but this is very nearly the last nail in the coffin for me even bothering with any new albums they put out. 'Damaged' was the closest discernible song I could find on here, but even that was a hard, hard pass. In This Moment - GODMODE 1 . GODMODE 2 . THE PURGE 3 . ARMY OF ME 4 . SACRIFICE 5 . SKYBURNER 6 . SANCTIFY ME 7 . EVERYTHING STARTS AND ENDS WITH YOU 8 . DAMAGED (feat. Spencer Charnas of Ice Nine Kills) 9 . FATE BRINGER 10 . I WOULD DIE FOR YOU
  14. A softer moment from Hollow Front's new album is pretty nice;
  15. I really don't understand this project. They will end their musical career with the worst produced discography in musical history, I'm not even kidding. How they can be recording new albums that sound worse than their poor sounding debut in 2002 is absolutely well beyond me. For anyone counting, they just released another new album; Ferreira - Baby-7 1 . It's Alive! 2 . Sand Castles 3 . Can't Find The Words 4 . Bumpy 5 . On The Other Side 6 . Flame Still Burns 7 . Seven 8 . Second Row 9 . All Comes Back 10 . Can't Find The Words (Acoustic) -------------------------------------- Sadly, imo, it just sounds absolutely terrible - like a bad demo. Not even a good demo. The frustrating part is that every now and then they pen a decent tune like 'Can't Find The Words,' but it sounds like shit so there's no hope for it. I dunno, I truly don't get it. I don't think there's any excuse for recording an album that sounds this bad in 2023. Terrible.
  16. Decent song from her new album; Conqueress - Forever Strong and Proud 1 . Children of the Dawn 2 . Fire in the Sky 3 . Living After Midnight 4 . All For You 5 . Lean Mean Rock Machine 6 . I will Prevail 7 . Bond Unending 8 . Time for Justice 9 . Fels in der Brandung 10 . Love Breaks Chains 11 . Drive Me Wild 12 . Rise 13 . Best In Me 14 . Heavenly Creatures 15 . Total Eclipse of the Heart ---------------------------------------------------- I can see Doro diehards liking this one fair enough. Doesn't do much for me if I'm being honest, but playing it back to back with the new Dokken album, I'd actually give this one the nod over that one. Bit more lively sounding, with some decent tracks like 'Living After Midnight,' 'All For You,' 'Rise,' 'Heavenly Creatures,' and a cover of 'Total Eclipse of the Heart' all being pretty listenable. Any keepers? Nah, not for me... but like I say, I think diehard fans will probably get enough enjoyment out of this one.
  17. Hate to be the doomsday parade, but sadly I don't like it one bit. The way in which the songs are delivered seems to cater to Don's vocals these days, and that part I can appreciate. Sadly, I just don't like any of the songs. I have no issues with Don's vocals for what they are, Levin sounds great but the production job really lets the rhythm section down. Weak drum sound doesn't do the album any favours when the songs are really struggling to deliver any punch as they are. Listened to a couple of reviews on this yesterday and both were a lot kinder than my ears were. Simply put, I just don't personally like any of the songs at all. They're subdued and restrained, but more than that, there's just no half decent hook, the choruses don't grab me whatsoever, and the verses just plod along. No part of any song interests me. Maybe the solos, but it's a struggle to make it that far on any of these tunes. It's sad to say. You can definitely look at it glass half full and say it's better than this or that, but comparing it to other poor albums doesn't work for me. Reality is I'll never play any song off this again, regardless of if it's better than another bad recent Dokken album or not. I was thinking about this the other day, and I'd probably have to go back to 'Erase The Slate' to find the last keeper track Dokken recorded, imo. That's a long time ago now... If I was pressed I'd say the best two tracks are 'Fugitive,' which is about as close to vintage Dokken as I think we can ever expect again, and the ballad 'I'll Never Give Up' is probably the track that suits everything about the band at the moment best. Relaxed vocals from Don, poor production not as vital for a softer song, and overall it just caters to how laid back the band is in 2023.
  18. lol, did I look in at this thread at the wrong time or what??
  19. Don't leave me hanging, my good man. Tell me more. If I know the story I definitely cannot recall.
  20. Yeah, people seem hesitant to admit they liked 'Friends,' but we (my brothers and I) all really enjoyed it and I still rate it as a good time and a prominent part of our childhood / teenhood. And Chandler was a great character at the time too. Sad he had such a battle on the sidelines.
  21. How very cool. The fact that they're only demo recordings is a bit of a bummer, but I like that 'Summer nights' song. Would love to hear the rest of it, out of pure curiosity. Hopefully there becomes an avenue that we can all get to hear this thing.
  22. After getting over the shock that this was not Journey covering Pretty Boy Floyd's 'Only the young,' I actually gave them both a listen. It's quite unique, innit, and I don't hate it. Don't think I'd go out of my way to put them into my listening rotation, but yeah, it's pretty cool.
  23. Wow, that’s heavy. Rest in peace.
  24. A life lived well, I do not doubt. Still very sad considering his age, though. May he rest in peace.
  25. Yeah, I also found this site through the Melodicrock.com notice board. I think it was purely just seeing some posts from Dan there where he must have left his calling card in a signature... or even just his user name? Can't remember exactly, but it led me here either way. I also used Komodo Island back in the day, but only for naughty, naughty stuff. Not sure I ever there in the forums that I recall.
