  1. That’s the one! I was trying to think of the one that created a bit of a buzz a few years ago. I remember liking it at the time, but never anything since. Not even sure how that’d stack up to my ears today. Was it 2006? Or Maybe 2016? Either way, probably not heard it since the year of its release…
  2. They're definitely a good band to see live. I actually can't fully remember as it's four years ago now, but I think I said they were my favourite live band that I've actually seen. Off the top of my head, I think that's probably about right.
  3. Or 1992; Or 1988; I guess they're like a Cold Chisel or Midnight Oil in Australia. Blasphemous to some for me to say how much I dislike them, and any of the typical kind of pub rock Aussie bands, but otherwise they're almost like a part of Australian culture. I notice via wikipedia that this Popeda band hasn't been very active, at least recording-wise, since 2017 and I wonder if this is a reunion of sorts, that the lead singer didn't want to be a part of? He'd been with the band from 1977 to 2023. Big shoes for Olli to step into, I dare say.
  4. I got curious. Foreign vocals aside, these guys sound like a very acquired taste. The sound terrible, to be honest. Would be curious to hear from Stefan what about them makes them such a national treasure. There must be more to the tale because just listening to some of the music it's hard to understand. This random one popped up and induced vomit; But I was curious about what they were doing in 1990;
  5. 'Sailing On' from the Boys In Heaven album has to be the most pure 80's AOR song of 2023, I must say. When that incredible hook kicks in it's pure bliss. It's a nice album, but major praise for that song particularly. All class. For anyone who missed it; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fPiIJJNS3a0 As for a best of list, I'm on the middle weekend of two separate weeks away with the kids, but when I get back I want to give this a fair crack. Haven't really looked at or updated my list whatsoever, so just going to need to rely on my ratings through the year. Hope to get a list up either very late this week, or next week.
  6. Yeah, foreign language is a 100% deal breaker for me. Without the lyrics you lose 50% of the point of the song, for me, personally. It's why I don't bother with instrumental or foreign language albums. Anyway, this is potentially rough news. These days it's pretty common for artists to juggle a couple of projects so I'd personally be pretty shocked if he left Reckless Love completely. Though, who knows? I think he'd be able to manage the recording side of it, considering they haven't really done much of that in recent years anyway... but I guess the issue comes with touring. If the rest of the guys still want to do that then I guess they'll need a replacement. Reckless Love, in March or April 2020, remains the last live band I ever saw. Looking forward to Glamfest to break the drought. Hoping I get to see Reckless Love, with Olli, again one day too.
  7. Interesting. I was lucky enough to find their middle four albums through the years, all on shelves in Australian music / second hand shops. 'Stand Tall,' if memory serves, I got for $19.95 at Utopia. That was pretty expensive itself at the time. Yeah, judging by the tail end of the video above, sounds like there is a whole lot of inactivity in the Killer Dwarfs camp and I dare say a possible lack of desire to keep the thing going? I heard those two albums I missed... gotta be honest and say I don't think I was missing out on much by not being aware of them. Debut is pretty basic / simple hard rock. Nothing terrible, but nothing I'd really spin again either. 'Start @ One' is pretty underwhelming too. One of those albums where you kind of have to concede that you can understand why a record label may have passed on it. 'Solid Ground' is a pretty nice track, but the rest is a kind of lacklustre way for the band to bow out. Either way, still glad I finally closed a chapter that I didn't know needed to be closed.
  8. Haha, yeah, I'm exactly the same. I'm actually really surprised I gave it that much praise, even back then. Entirely solid disc, but sadly not one I've spun for a while. I did actually spin a few songs from it not too long ago and was impressed with how they held up. But haven't spun the full thing for a while... Review seems a bit heavy handed today, but I'd need to give it a spin again to confirm if it is or not.
  9. Oh, cool, thanks. I was wondering, did I really add the beeps, and why? lol. I think I recall that one now, with some random AOR ballad amongst the shit. That was a long time ago, though!! No idea what this one is either. Hints?
  10. I doubt that, strongly. It is an absolutely excellent album and I'd be floored if any fan of "our music" would disagree. Yeah, I have no idea what happened to them. I remember hearing/reading somewhere along the way that they weren't an always together playing and touring kind of band, but that new music was always still a possibility. But where are we at now? Seven years since the last album. I think it's sadly safe to assume there may not be another due to the extended amount of radio silence. I also wonder what happened to White Widdow.
  11. lol, what on earth is that for? What does he mean by “sheep herding music?” And what is the “beep” thing all about? Help me make sense of this! 😉
  12. Yeah, I’d be stoked to see Lynch Mob play the debut. It was crazy when I saw them because I thought I loved every song off those first two albums, but they seemed to pick any borderline slower bluesy number and avoided all the big catchy melodic songs. It was so weird. Wish I could remember the set list… I wonder if I can find it somewhere. If this one is going to be one of their final shows, I’m pretty sure they’ll play all the classics. But yeah, bummer that Oni won’t be there, I assume.
  13. Wow, been a few decades since I’ve heard Russell on something that “heavy.” Almost a lifetime ago. Not bad at all.
  14. I watch all of these, even the super obscure metal bands I've never heard of and are really not my thing musically... but I find them all interesting. A sweet one came up today, though, with none other than the Killer Dwarfs in the spotlight; This one was probably the most eye opening of all to me. I actually felt like a gump afterwards. 1. I had honestly never heard about their debut album before. Man I felt silly seeing that. Never a whisper entered my field of view before. 2. And as if that wasn't bad enough, I don't have any record of ever having heard 'Start @ One' either - an album recorded in 1993, shelved, and finally released in 2013. I find it impossible to believe this was released and I didn't know about it, but I can't find any record that I've heard it before. Will rectify asap. 3. Was really curious to see the music video thing they had going on too. Pretty cool and innovative and something to get their heads stuck above the pack, I'd have thought. Anyway, this was a really cool one and I'm really grateful for it as it's led me to two albums by a band I am genuinely very fond of, that I had no idea about. I don't think the debut will be "my thing," but mad curious about both either way.
  15. You bought a ticket to see that? Or were you trying to work your way into a vaginal passage by joining someone who likes terrible music? To each their own, cob, but that sounds like the actual soundtrack to what is playing in Hell.
  16. Just bought my ticket now. Quite a few I could pass on, but no way Tyketto, Slaughter and HEAT (still not seen them yet) are coming out and I'm going to miss it. Now I'll sit in dread for the next few months as each band cancels for some reason or other, lol. On paper, though, very exciting. I've seen Lynch Mob and Janet Gardner before and wouldn't mind seeing them again. Lynch Mob were really bland and legit seemed to avoid every song of theirs I loved when I saw them (with Oni Logan too, sadly - as in it would have been awesome if he could have sung on the classics), so hoping they play some of the classics of those first two albums this time around. If they did it'd be like seeing them for the first time as that first set list was just shit. I liked Janet Gardner and as long as her voice holds up I'm sure I'll enjoy her again. Was never a fan of Jetboy, but it's an okay band to see for "free" in addition to the bands I'm actually forking out the cash for. I wonder if they'll play 'Too late,' lol. Cruel Intentions are cool too - shouldn't dismiss them. I actually quite like them and don't doubt they'd put on a pretty wicked live show. Ragdoll had a few cool cuts too - I think? - that I'd hope they'd play live. Would have to brush up on Cruel Intentions and Ragdoll, but probably cool inclusions. Never really got a seat on the Wicked Smile bus, but they'll be cool to see live, I don't doubt. Anyway, fingers crossed super hard that at least Slaughter and Tyketto make it out here. The prospect of seeing 'Forever Young' live is orgasmic.
  17. I like it. Agree that intro is an absolute beauty. But I really like the whole tune too. Quality.
  18. Very exciting news. Would be pretty devastating if the result was shit but hoping the magic can be rekindled.
  19. No, mate. Covid isn't the first thing that can cause illness, nor will it be the last. Fact of the matter is that I don't care one single bit about what one other individual wanted to do with or for themselves about covid (even if I admittedly don't have a high opinion of mask wearers, but it is their choice to be a gronk). And by the same token, anyone who didn't want to participate in the shit show should have always have been free not to do so. My problem with Bach and Snider is their "kill the non-believers" type stance.
  20. This is cool. Scarlett O'Hara - Overthrown 1 . Overthrown 2 . 5 a.m 3 . Criminal 4 . The Tide 5 . Midnight in Eden 6 . Front Row 7 . Downward Spiral 8 . Would U Even Care?
  21. Pretty decent new release. 1 . Secrets 2 . Inner Sanctuary 3 . Passing Through 4 . All The Same 5 . Another Limb 6 . Beginning 7 . Girl In A Red Dress 8 . First Time 9 . Out Of Nowhere 10 . Smile 11 . Without 12 . Lights 13 . T.I.M (To Immortalise A Man) Pretty solid throughout, but these two songs stood out for me;
  22. Bloody hell, how much did these guys record?! Cool tune.
  23. Yeah, seems to happen a bit more these days. By random, the first time I vividly recall it being a thing was with Wigelius' second album, where half of that had dropped by the time that (christforsaken goshdarn gem of an) album was released.
