1. Killer tune indeed! Stranger is also a top Shakra tune for me.
2. +1 A few from that year: GnR - Appetite Dio - Dream Evil Whitesnake - 1987 Dokken - Back For The Attack Tigertailz - Young And Crazy Crue - Girls, Girls, Girls Faster Pussycat - S/T Def Leppard - Hysteria Aerosmith - Permanent Vacation
3. Completely disagree. They usually have 3 or 4 absolutely killer tunes per release that would have been radio hits back in the day and the rest of the tracks are for the most part excellent compliments to those 3 or 4 gems. As for the topic at hand...for me, tough call. I had never given Shakra a try until I picked up Back On Track on a whim. I loved it so I started tracking down the the other releases. So that is how I started and they have very quickly become one of my favorite bands ever. That said, I think he could get the very first CD and enjoy it just as much and then make his way forward with the 2nd, 3rd, etc. and see the progression of the band, the change in lead singers, etc.
4. The whole CD is good IMO. I suppose Prostitutes Night is one to look for.
5. Jettblack - Raining Rock Place Vendome - Place Vendome (via another smooth trade with Stefan, thank you sir!)
6. Samples are very very short, but I like what I hear.
7. Absolutely.....from the temps, to the smells to the visuals, Halloween, fall is the best time of year!
8. Shakra flat out rawks, no doubt. How they survive the lead singer changes and still churn out quality releases...amazing. Has anyone else ever been asl'd? Do tell. Scored a couple from the $5 bin at CDBaby: Midnight Circus - Money Shot Mad Margritt - Animal Sweet Cheater - Eatin' Ain't Cheatin' Crossfire - Dirty Games
9. I agree with him....probably the weakest song on offer, and horribly cliched. Pretty embarrassing really. I couldn't disagree more. Great tune IMO, awesome opener....I love the lyrics "do what you were born to do", I like the solo...heck even the video is pretty darn good 80's rockin sleaze n cheese. "You stupid bitch, I liked that band!" Lol
10. In case anyone was not aware, there is a "Digital Exclusive Bonus Track" called Weapon that is worth the $1 IMO. There is also a "Non-album Bonus Track" featuring Ian Paice called Feel The Love. I am not a huge fan of this tune but it is not bad either. What does everyone think of the other version of Raining Rock with Udo Dirkschneider vocals? At first I was like that is weird, but now I like it. His style fits the song pretty good.
11. This is a release where you spin it once and find a couple of awesome tracks but might feel a bit empty overall. Then you spin it again and again and suddenly you are finding something to like with mostly every song. Not a grower, because I think it is way better than that. Geoff, I think I know the song you think is similar from the first release, Mother F*cker...it has a very similar riff with some fast finger work. When I first heard I thought maybe it was a Mother F*cker Part II. Check that one out if and see if that is the one. Anyway, I think this band has put out 2 great releases and nobody is wrong to say they like one over the other. Count me in as a fan of both!
12. She's like, stupid sexy! I like.
13. Pretty much same deal for me, 1 somewhat attentive listen and I'd say it didn't grab me as much either BUT I caught enough here and there to think it will get me after a few more listens. Raining Rock N Roll and Prison Of Love are 2 stand outs from first listen though.
14. Big Cock - She's A Lady
15. Well said, that was sort of my point too with the View New Content. I am all for chatting, the off topic chit chat....it is just annoying some days when I want to read some music related talk and have to sort through 2 pages of "song game" threads. It would be nice to keep those threads but not on the New Content page. Anyway, save room for me in that corner.
16. It was either Billy and the Boingers or Death Tongue!
17. I can't stand those "game" threads...I've mentioned it before. It would be nice if they would not be put on the "View New Content" section.
18. Completed the H.E.A.T collection with today's arrival: H.E.A.T - Address The Nation This is seriously a great disc. I know some of you like all of it except Downtown but to be honest that is one of my favorite tracks.
19. In the mail today, catching up on a few from my "Buy" list: H.E.A.T - S/T H.E.A.T - Freedom Rock Reckless Love - Animal Attraction
20. Killer! Nothing Sacred is a great follow up too!
21. No shit...you think someone would have stepped back when that was set up and went "uh, guys, toilet paper...no good". Probably the same warehouse that the new Curse video was made.
