  1. Their debut was awesome for those that have not heard that looks like you have some catching up to do! I'll be picking this one up as well.
  2. That's probably spot on. It was Garden of Babylon and Damaged Kid being the only songs that originally didn't care for. Damaged Kid has finally grown and me and PARTS of Garden have grown on me...but just when I get into it, then it drags. So yeah, get it down to 4 minutes and down to the bare rock n roll and there ya have it.
  3. That's good stuff! And not only the Lynch Mob shirt but a little Axl Rose sway too.
  4. I'll have to pay attention to whether they play at GB Leightons again. Usually the bands have a merch booth and come out after their show and sign stuff, chat with fans.
  5. Can I get the cliff notes please? Ok, I actually took time to decipher this... I have not bought the new Shakra yet, so I have not heard the entire album. Based on comments it seems this will have great tunes and some filler, in the end getting some average scores. Ok, so maybe not up to par. I'll reserve my judgement until I can listen in full. As for Done Me Wrong. It is a killer tune IMO and I'll put that idea on this board and if you don't like it I can suggest a place you can put it. "And the sun will shine." Edguy...hit and miss for me as well, they seem to change their style so much. Rocket Ride is a great disc though, their best of what I've heard. PC69...they seems to get a couple of killer tunes, some decent tunes and some filler on most releases. Ceremonial is really good IMO. Dyanzty...great band, I am probably in the minority that loves their first release even more than the excellent recent releases. I just wish their newer discs were more available at prices that don't break the bank. Literally, not sleeping a week before a music CD comes out? I hope you are literally fucking joking.
  6. Great new tune no doubt....that solo is mega powerful. I'd put these tunes "since Power Ride" against it though: Done Me Wrong Little Stories Vertigo Lonesomeness Brand New Day That said, when the time comes I spin this new tune as many times as I've listened to the ones I listed, then I might say, yes it is the best. But right now, it is too new of a song and the ones I list are some of my favorite Shakra tunes.
  7. Stopped at a used shop, someone must have dumped their cd single collection. So for 95 cents each I had to grab these: Kix - Tear Down The Walls House Of Lords - Can't Find My Way Home Tidal Force - Station To Station Aerosmith - The Other Side Steelheart - Sticky Side Up Hurricane - I'm On To You Junkyard - Back On The Streets Little Caesar - From The Start Also grabbed a few non-singles for a few bucks more: Bonfire - One Acoustic Night (2cd) Mitch Malloy - S/T (for a 95 cents) Axel Rudi Pell - Kings And Queens Accept - Metal Heart
  8. Backed, I couldn't even make it 10 seconds. I am sure many people love it though.
  9. You two should get a room.
  10. Here u go Wes - you see I agree with you Backed, love this tune. And that little riff they have going in the beginning and coming out of the guitar solo would be even more awesome had a little bit of Chris Laney production been put to this CD! This awesome CD would have been KILLER.
  11. I disagree it was consistent. 2 or 3 series prior the 49'ers were flagged for pass interference on a critical 3rd down play around midfield which led to Ravens points instead of a punt. It was the right call. If consistent then call the pass interference on the first ball thrown to Crabtree and the holding on 4th down. And all season long they call the ticky tacky crap...which I don't like but I would say the opposite...let's get consistent. And like Wes said, when you see Ravens offensive linemen on the punt actually grabbing 49'ers around the waist and being dragged along (which was a smart move on their part!) but no flags being thrown for holding??? It really does make you wonder......I think the MAFIA was involved!
  12. This is from a reader at Packers.com who asked about that safety play I was referring to above: Josh from Caledonia, WI I was thinking of you, Vic, when they did the intentional safety. I remember you saying how distasteful it felt to you to give points to the other team. But they executed it perfect to clinch the Super Bowl. It was the right thing to do. I knew as soon as the fourth-down pass was incomplete and I did my math on the time remaining that the Ravens would take the safety on fourth down. I also think that for the second consecutive year a play in the Super Bowl might cause some kind of rules adjustment. The Ravens intentionally held on the safety play. Why not? If they’re called for holding, it’s still a safety and the time isn’t put back on the clock. Again, it was the smart thing to do, but I also think it might result in some conversation on the subject at the owners meetings in March, and possibly cause a proposal to put time back on the clock or penalize the violating time in some additional manner when it’s guilty of holding in that situation. Remember the too-many-men-on-the-field penalty in last year’s Super Bowl and the rules change it caused. Coaches are smart people. They will always find gaps in the rules, which will force more rules. By the way, if we need proof that the officials’ flags were sewn to their pockets in the final moments of the game, the safety play is it.
  13. Yep, I see the Raven dude pop up and just shove the ref...."I tell ya it's getting ugly out here."
  14. Seriously? Or you just making fun? I can think of many that this one wouldn't even crack the top 10. Boring, more boring, really no drama at the end except a non-call that gets called all year long...shit a defensive back cannot even breathe on a receiver in the NFL and they don't call that? Jim Harbaugh is just embarrassing....then the Ravens you got Mr. Double Homicide....and who is the idiot that ran through the tunnels of New England's stadium after they beat the Patriots yelling about how they showed the Patriots....Suggs? Classless idiot. But that said, Ed Reed is my kinda player and John Harbaugh is way classier and more tolerable than his younger temper tantrum brother. I dunno, don't really care for either team. Game over, Baltimore won, but it was a stupid game IMO. By the way, on that non-punt safety....did anyone else see the Raven guy hold on to the 49er lineman by the waist and pull him away from the punter? Wouldn't have made a difference but it was just plain weird looking and not called.
  15. A slightly different take I have is that I don't mind a 5, 6 season show...but for Pete's (Fry) sake, please have a storylines that tie together, have a beginning and an ending in sight and finish the show with a proper ending. Too many of these shows don't last long because they don't seem to have the overall story figured out yet and then they crap out of ideas. The X-Files was one of my favorite shows ever but they totally botched that and instead of 9 seasons should of ended around 4 or 5 and answered at least a few things.
  16. Glen's opinion on the Crazy Lixx production is a pretty lonely one and I personally think both suck (hard to say which one more as they're both very different. Crazy Lixx sounds really weak, this is just pretty bad... and yeah, I guess comparatively "weak" as well. Whimpers when played back to back with most any other current CD.) Quick answer without checking the backs of the CDs is that Crazy Lixx definitely used a different producer, and I'm 99% sure Crashdiet did too. Rare these days the same producer produces 2 albums in a row, unless he's part of the band. And by the way, I was still in stunned silence by this being your first Crashdiet album. Knowing your tastes, they are an absolute must - at least 'Rest In Sleaze' and 'Generation Wild.' Utterly essential. Well I love Crazy Lixx and have all their albums, so if these guys compare to them I didn't really hear it in this album. I will check out the others as everyone says they are better than this release. Crazy Lixx are more melodic than crashdiet. I guess both have that sleaze sound to them, but crashdiet have a dirtier sound. I was gonna say the same thing, Crazy Lixx generally more melodic than CD. Even lyrically you will find more f bombs and grittier vocals with CD. Both great bands and essential for (most) members of this board!
  17. Still a bad game. Boring and non-competitive for the first half. Stupid power outage totally "zapped" the flow of the game. Then yeah, holding on 4th down....but then the reason it's not called is because "the refs aren't gonna throw a flag in the Super Bowl in that situation"??? One thing that stood out to me even more than it did against my team weeks earlier is how fast Kaepernick is...wow, dude has wheels.
  18. Yeah, Ray Lewis...the sooner he retires and I never have to hear his name the better. That would be more solidified if the 49er's win. And as a Packer fan, I respect the fact they were the better team by far, deserve to be there and since they are representing the NFC I will root for them. I expect it to be a good game that could go either way though.
  19. Very harsh indeed, even from my Mafia brothers. I think you have to spin this a few times at a high volume to appreciate it. It certainly isn't outstanding but yikes, some good tunes on here IMO. Most certainly we all agree the production is an issue here. I can get past that an really dig most of the tunes. Garden of Babylon and Damaged Kid are the only songs I don't really care for. I love Snakes In Paradise, California, Sin City, Got A Reason. Well, everyone brings a different opinion to the table and therefore we find all these bands some of us love, some us don't.
  20. Wasted Years, Special, Big Machine, Passage Of Time were the ones that stuck out for me the first time through. Subsequent spins found a few more growers. Then probably 2-3 fillers. Overall a very good release IMO.
