Halestorm - Back From The Dead
Captain Howdy replied to tobi is an animal's topic in AOR and Hard Rock
And here we go again, deluxe version coming in Dec with seven extra tracks. No idea if it's physical or digital only, but this is getting to be a joke. Release a new album, then seven months later release it with bonus tracks and expect people to pay again. I'll wait til it comes out, and download the extra tracks illegally. Fuck this kind of greedy bullshit. -
Yup ... fuckin scared the shit out of me realising how long ago it was.

I'd guess it's more the strain of standing for two hours and all the travelling than actual guitar playing, and with studio recordings it's not all done at once, and in this day and age a lot of musicians can record from home studios rather than having to travel to whatever recording studio they used to have to travel to. That said, I don't think they will ever do another album, just maybe the odd song here and there for whatever. I mean, apart from a couple of stand alone digital tracks and new songs for compilations, they have not recorded a full album of material in 14 years.

Blessed By A Broken Heart singer leaves the band!

Looks like they may be back together as trying to get a festival date and say they are working on new material, and with Tony on vox by the look of it https://www.facebook.com/watch?v=835154917667181 -
Unusual for Frontiers the video is in 4K but it looks like whoever did the camera work and editing isn't what you would call a professional. Not sure how the video's for Frontiers releases are done, and if the artists do most of it themselves, but if you look at the quality of videos by the likes of Chez Kane, Crazy Lixx, Stryper, About us or Girish & the Chronicles, there is definetly a lot more effort put in.

She sounds fine to me. Not everyone needs to have aggresive vocals. Certainly fits the lighter side of rock.

The song he plays is around the 25 minute mark

Chez and Danny did a long Q&A tonight on FB and YT, and at one point Danny was talking about how he creates the songs and spoke about several off the debut being unused Crazy Lixx songs, he then played the demo of Better than love, with him on vocals that was the first song he sent to Chez. Obviously it was during the stream but it sounded really good quality. A little rougher on the vocals and less polished, but it now makes me want to hear more songs he and CL have recorded as demo's and never used. Oh and someone asked them what the Japanese bonus track was, and Danny said "If you have seen any Japanese Frontier releases, you know. They always put acoustic versions of tracks already on the album." Hard to tell 100% but it sounded like he was taking a swipe at them. This is why I don't bother with most Frontiers Japanese releases. I have a couple of LA Guns ones that have bonus tracks that are unique and a Pretty Boy Floyd one, but cannot think of many other Frontiers releases I have bothered with.

It's a parody of the original. Copied frame by frame but on a budget.

What now disbanded bands do you miss the most?
Captain Howdy replied to AlphaMale's topic in General Music Discussion
After touring for Invader RL pretty much vanished until just before Turbo Rider, and Olli was recording a few solo songs so I was starting to wonder about them too. The pandemic played a part in a lot of bands taking time off I think as well. As I say though, looking at the Wiggly FB page, they posted back in March last year that they were recording an EP so they seem to at least be semi-active even if the material never materialised. -

Not a band I listen to, but looking at it there last album was 6 years ago, and so was Reckless Loves until they released their new one this year. Sometimes bands just take a break after touring and recording relentlessly, especially when there are other projects they work on. That said, early last year they said they were recording and were sposed to have an EP out by the end of the year, so they seem to at least be an ongoing concern even if they have not released anything -
Just found out they released a digital single between the debut album and this. Cover of Uptown funk and b-side Bang Bang (no not the D2 song)

Kings of Leon Covers

I remember a few years back I was asking about The Donna's and Bowling For Soup as I felt they were similar in style to 40ft Ringo or Marvelous 3. Did not wanna submit and have my time wasted. The Donna's got the green light, BFS did not. Saved myself the hassle. I also remember wanting to submit another band (can't remember who) and Dan was not aware of them or what they sounded like. I sent audio samples or video samples, and got the greenlight. I think I also checked with Generation X before submitting. Unless it is bands that are obviously in the style of this site, never submit without checking. -

They have not disbanded. They still tour regularly and brought out a single this year. Plus Slash recently said they have been re-working some old Chinese Democracy songs, which I would assume are the ones that he was a part of before they were scrapped and everyone but Axl fucked off. -

Yup, have to agree on that. I like Diamond Black, but I like Night By Night more. Gonna add another Brit band, and that is Jettblack. -
Just saw part of an interview some guy did with her today, and one of the things she said was the first song had a bunch of songs that were originally written for Crazy Lixx and never used, but this album Danny has written more with her vocals in mind. No real surprise as a lot of people compared the songs on the debut to Crazy Lixx. Still hearing some of their sound on this, but I agree, there is defo more 80s Heart & Vixen on this, with touches of Leppard backing vocals (another Crazy Lixx staple) and even the odd bit of 80s Kiss (especially on the opening track which reminds me of Forever in the chorus)
