  1. Complicated Man sounds nothing like Giant, and reiterates my feeling that the band name should not have been used. Its not a bad song per se, but it does sound like a blatant VH rip off, and it just doesnt say 'Giant' to me.
  2. Also, possibly the same song here http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/music/view.aspx?songID=2901
  3. As for the cover, isn't it pretty much the same as the last one with different colouring? Very few similarities imo.
  4. I loved the last disc, just no nonsense hard rock n roll. Pretty much sums it up. Yeah, it was hardly original. Yeah, it sounded like certain other Aussie bands. But fuck, it was pure, no thrills classic rock n roll with hooks aplenty.
  5. Yeah I like it too. Its obviously sposed to be like a movie poster, which is always a cool concept if done right.
  6. Earth vs.. is an essential rock release. I'll admit that I lost interest in them after I heard the first single off of Endless nameless, but their early stuff is full of jems.
  7. So selling bucket loads of albums makes it a great album? In that case i'd be listening to Myley Cyrus or some shit like that. Isn't that what this site is all about? Listening and buying the stuff from the genres we like, regardless of whether it's commerically popular, selling millsions of copies or is on a major label? I was agreeing with you for godsake, pointing out that they are not selling on name alone. Jesus!
  8. You can say this same thing about any band from the 80's still releasing albums. Motley, Def Lep, Alice Cooper, Skid Row, Kiss...whoever else you wanna name are all living off of what they did in the 80's (or earlier in the case of Alice and Kiss) and none of them would get even a look in if they were new comers and releasing what they have been releasing. Not saying they are bad releases, just not anywhere near the top of the field, .... so bon jovi is not alone in this criticism. And lets face it, most of those bands are hardly selling big numbers, and are on lesser labels, so for Jovi to still be on a big label and still be selling big numbers proves that people like what they are doing, not just some blind loyalty cause if it was that then the likes of Kiss and Alice would still be as popular as they used to be.
  9. Funnily enough I was listening to it at work earlier this evening (with Pussy & Tits added on as tracks 13 and 14), and I was still singing away to myself, cracking a smile and laughing at certain moments. Never gets old!
  10. I agree with edwithmj, I dont think he looks that bad considering his age. I also have to say that Za Za was a great album, the last one was shite tho!
  11. He got the news that Tyler had quit off the internet (he says this himself in his original rant) and it was Classic Rock that broke the original story that pretty much went viral, so either way they had a hand in the misinformation. The quote I included in my post dated Nov 9 2009, 04:18 PM was directly copied from the Classic Rock Magazine website...which on just visiting can no longer find... and seems to suggest that they were first with the news. Call me cynical but with a new solo album to promote this is "useful". But I suppose there's no smoke without fire as they say and this story may have more twists than a yard of yarn! Well quite frankly, if Joe Perry reads a news story on the internet then goes and tells other news outlets that Tyler has left, then its him who is being an idiot. If you read a story on the internet that your next door neighbour had done something, would you then go around telling everyone that, or would you speak to your neighbour first? Regardless of whether Classic Rock was right or wrong with the story, the fact that Perry then went round saying it was true shows that things are not right in the Aerosmith camp or he is just an idiot for believing everything he reads without confirming it with the guy he has worked with for nearly 40 years.
  12. Nobody is forcing you to listen to them.
  13. Sadly due to being unemployed for a good portion of the year, I didnt get nearly as many of the new releases this year, so still playing catch up and got quite a few of them on my christmas lists. Of the albums released this year that I have bought, I probably wont put them in any order, but these are my thoughts (of the ones I can remember that is). Steel Panther - Feel the steel. I think everyone knows how much I love these guys, and this album is probably my most played of the year. While I am not going to rank anything else, this is easily my top album of the year, and I dont care what anyone else says. Winger - Karma. Absolutely amazing album, and another one thats been on almost constant rotation since buying it. Stryper - Murder by pride. Right up there with my fave Stryper albums. Another stunning release. Bon Jovi - The Circle. Only been listening to it for a week or so, and first opinion was 'Meh'. It has grown on me somewhat, but is far from their best 'modern' work. The Answer - Everyday demons. Good solid hard rock. Not amazing, but certainly a nice no frills album. Lita Ford - Wicked wonderland. Going against every other opinion on this board, but I really like this one. Ok, it falls flat on a few songs, and I have only been listening to it for 2 days, but I personally think its a damn good album. Bowling For Soup - Sorry for partyin. Certainly not their finest work, but pretty much standard BFS fare, ie good stuff. Bulletboys - 10c Billionaire. Crap. Danger Danger - Revolve. Stunning melodic album. Not the rocker many had wanted, but certainly turned out to be a melodic masterpiece. Enuff Z Nuff - Dissonance. Was familiar with this already due to owning the Lost in Vegas boot thats been floating around for a while, but still an enjoyable release. Not really one of their best, but certainly better than the dull ? album. Freakshow - S/T. I do like it, but it just didnt hook me with any stand out tracks. Reece - Universal language. Same as Freakshow really. Place Vendome - Streets of fire. Same again. Spinal Tap - Back from the dead. Dull and pointless release. White Trash - 3-D Monkeys in Space. Not a bad album, but it just didnt do anything for me as it was more like the 2nd album than the debut, imo. Alias - Never Say Never. Nice album, but not a patch on the debut. Nice to have it finally officially released though. I obviously havent included some best ofs and also missed off live albums, as never been that much of a fan of them. As I say, still so many I want to buy, but just gotta wait.
  14. Actually, when Joe Perry had been telling the Sun that Tyler had quit, I dont see that that had anything to do with Classic Rock or shoddy reporting. Perry is the one who has been saying Tyler had quit.
  15. http://www.classicrockmagazine.com/news/st...your-xmas-sack/ Steel Panther to release christmas song
  16. See in the old days you only got bonus tracks on Jap CDs because they had to make it more worthwhile for fans to buy CDs in Japan as the CDs were so expensive there (hence the reason the imports cost so much when you try to buy them). I could accept that because there was a good reason behind it. I can even accept, to a degree the USA getting bonus tracks or Europe getting bonus tracks, because you can just import the version with more tracks, but two things they do now piss me off. Firstly adding different bonus tracks to different releases (Jap, Euro, US and download versions all have different bonus tracks), and secondly the new Walmart/Target exclusive bonus shit. If you are not in the USA, these albums then become impossible to get unless you either know someone in the USA, or someone sells them on eBay (probably for a silly mark up). I think a perfect example was the last Hinder CD that was available at both stores, both with different extras. Thankfully the Target one was only live tracks, which I dont care about, but if it had been different studio tracks, that would be bullshit. Another thing I hate with downloadable bonus tracks is that quite often they are not available to download as a single track, and only become downloadable if you buy the whole album.
  17. Yeah this aint gonna appeal to most people here, and while I am not exactly blown away by this one, I do like it. Its different, and its not classic Lita, but take it as a different entity, and its got some really good moments. Personally I think she should have gone the route Pearcy did with Vertex and release this under a band name rather than as as solo album. Some of the songs on here just dont work, imo, but some of them are catchy as hell. Not certain where the comparisons are coming from in those reviews as it sounds fuck all like Kid Rock or Stevie Ray Vaughn, when in fact the most obvious comparison is Rob Zombie. Gillette sounds at times like Rob, at other times like Ozzy Osbourne, but the music has more in comparison with Robs material than any other artist, imo!
  18. Difference there though is that the band had only been going five years or so at the time, and were forced into replacing Bon. Aerosmith, as has been said, has been going nearly forty years. They could probably get away with recording without any member other than Tyler as he is the focal point of the band, not just the vocalist. You have to remember that unlike most rock bands, Aerosmith is one of the few rock/metal acts to be huge amongst mainstream music fans, and they probably only know Tyler, and have no idea who the rest of the band are. I always say that, with few exceptions, a band can easily replace any member and be the same band, but replacing the singer should be followed by a change in band name as it rarely ever works with well known bands.
  19. The point is that Spinal Tap parodied the heavy metal bands that were singing about dragons and mythical creatures etc, while Panther is parodying the lyrics of the hair metal and glam bands. Take a song like Yeah you want it by D2 or Lets put the X in sex by Kiss, and show how silly they are by blowing them up. Its exactly the same thing Tap did, but the genre is different. If the lyrics were toned down, it would just be another 80s hair band not a parody band!
  20. I haven't read any comments like that, just people giving their opinions. Same happened with Steel Panther, some people liked it & some didn't. These are just bands that spark a lot of debate. Well the fact that people seem to want to tell people that they wont be listening to it for long, or that they dont sing along to it like older albums, suggests people seem to think that their opinions should be followed by others as well.
  21. Bon Jovi seems to suffer from the same problem here that Steel Panther suffers from, people telling the people that like it that they wont like it for long or they are wrong for liking it. My personal opinion on the new album is "meh", but I have only given it one spin so far as have been working a lot recently (my last day off work was Friday last week, and next day off is Monday), but I do intend to give it more spins before I pass full judgement on it. I must admit that Lost Highway was similar for me, but the thing that had going for it over this one is the fact that I like a bit of country music but dont particularly like U2, which I was reminded of on this one in places. Two tracks that stood out were the obvious two, Work for the working man and We werent born to follow, as I had already heard them several times before getting the album, but the second track on the album, imo, was too slow paced, and the most U2 sounding, which is probably what threw me off on the first listen.
  22. Well things are looking shakey for the future this week. Bridgestone pulling out after next season, Toyota pulling out now and Renault evaluating whether they will continue. Bridgestone pulling out may not sound so bad, but after the way the FIA and Bernie shafted Michelin giving the tender to Bridgestone, and blew Goodyear offf when they wanted to return, there are not going to be that many options for tyre suppliers. Pirelli I think is interested, but I cant see who else will be. Toyota pulling out will only affect the driver market as obviously Williams was the only team using their engines, and they had already switched for next year. And the upside is it should now allow the Sauber team back on the grid, depending on what the FIA say, as obviously Toyota signed the Concorde agreement, comitting themselves to the F1 championship until 2012. Whether they pull out or not, Renault could really screw up Red Bulls chances next year, as they need to design their car around the engine. While Brawn proved that you can shoe horn an engine in late, not everyone would be that lucky, and a Newey designed car would probably have a lot less room for adaptation than the Brawn car. Red Bull has pretty much said this week that they will probably stick with Renault due to the time it is taking to sort out the Merc deal, and they need to design the car around the engine.
  23. Is Giant really that big of a money spinning name? I mean, its not like Motley Crue continuing without Vince when they had always said they would change the band name if one original member left. I think an album by Giant only really sells to people like us here, and we are just as likely to pick up a band like this if it were recorded under another name, purely based on the names involved. And actually, thinking about it, because of it being sold mostly to people like us, using the name Giant could actually lose them sales.
