"Piranha II: The Spawning" (1981) - Italian-made followup to the 1978 killer fish hit ups the ante by giving the toothy suckers the ability to fly (thanks to an ill advised government gene splicing experiment) and turns them loose on vacationers at a Caribbean resort.

Cheap, gory fun -- the "flying fish" effects look like big leather handbags with wings! -- that marked the directorial debut of James Cameron of future "Terminator" and "Titanic" fame. He maintains to this day that he doesn't consider "Piranha II" to be "his" movie since he was apparently fired during the editing process.

"Vigilante" (1983) - William "Maniac Cop" Lustig directed this entertaining variant on the "Death Wish" formula, with Robert Forster as a working class New Yorker who joins a neighborhood revenge squad (led by blaxploitation legend Fred Williamson) after his wife and son are victimized by street punks. Lots of gritty NYC locations make this one a real time capsule of a New York that was much dirtier and scarier than it is today.

"Skyscraper" (1996) - a hilariously cheap "Die Hard" ripoff starring the late, great Anna Nicole Smith in the Bruce Willis role (yes, **seriously!**). She's an L.A. helicopter pilot who gets mixed up in a high rise full of terrorists. I swear I am not making this up. Bullets fly, stuff blows up, and though Anna Nicole cant act her way out of a paper bag, she does get her bigger-than-yer-head boobs out several times so I was entertained.

"Cyclone" (1987) Cheap n' cheesy action flick with Heather Thomas of TV's "Fall Guy" as a cutie pie biker chick protecting her late inventor boyfriend's pet project - a high tech, heavily armed motorcycle - from an assortment of spies and arms dealers.

If it weren't for the occasional F bomb and a few brief T&A bits this could pass for a rerun of "Knight Rider."

The Fifth Element - forgot how bad this is.....

Bad, as in Michael Jackson Bad, as in good, because you think it's awesome? Because it is!

"City of the Living Dead" (1980) In Lucio Fulci's notorious gore fiesta (also known as 'The Gates of Hell'), the suicide of a priest opens a doorway for the Undead to rise and start noshin' on the living. Hilarity ensues.

In other words, this is typical trashy Euro-horror nonsense, riddled with plot holes and WTF moments, but it's worth seeing just for the truly sick, creative FX (which include brain drilling, intestinal puking and a rainstorm of maggots) which are impressive and disgusting in equal measure.

"The Reef" (2010) - this Aussie sea going suspense flick is basically a Down Under version of "Open Water," as a group of shipwreck survivors' swim to safety is plagued by regular visits by a pesky Great White shark. Derivative, but enjoyable.
