The so called Star Wars fans are so picky about minute details when it comes to this series that it is ridiculous...I was not confused about the movie so I'm not sure what their issue is there...all I can say is that it was an great action packed film...people should just sit back and enjoy the movie instead of looking for something to complain about...

I sat back and watched it and thought it was OK.

My expectations were pretty high, like most people, but I walked out thinking that it was an ok movie.

Many other people hated a lot of things about it.

I thought the side plot going to the casino to find the dude was wasted, and in the end, by not obeying their superiors the heroes cost many live, which is the opposite to what usually happens. Also in a galaxy far far away it seems that there has been a complete gender switch with females dominating the universe :)

I liked the casino side plot :)... the fact that it failed was a bit of a surprise as I expected it to succeed but that was a good thing IMO as I like surprises in films as it keeps me guessing...as for the gender thing, I'm not surprised as Hollywood is on a equality trip these days and IF they continue to make money giving women equal time on screen, then that will become the norm...like it or not...personally I don't mind seeing strong/ intelligent women being portrayed on screen instead of the usual second fiddle pretty faces....the only thing I could say wasn't great was that the movie reminded me of The Empire Strikes Back since both films show the rebels getting their asses kicked so that they can come back and win in the final film of the trilogy, so both trilogies are following the same story arc...but it was still an entertaining 2.5 hours...

"Thor: Ragnarok" (2017)

Marvel's Thunder God is cast out of Asgard during a takeover by his long lost sister, Hella - the Goddess of Death. With a little bit of help from his evil half-brother Loki and the Hulk, Thor battles his way off of a backwater planet run by a maniac (Jeff Goldblum) in order to save his people.
A fun, action packed fantasy flick with impressive visuals and a great sense of humor. "Thor" was never my favorite Marvel Comics character but I've been impressed with all of the films in this series thus far.
Also, coolest use of Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song" in a movie ever. :D

Happy Death Day = Excellent. Yea I know its only a PG13 "scary movie" but be damned if the plot isn't supreme and the acting is quite good. Written and directed by Christopher B Landon (Yep Michael Landon's son!) who brought us the excellent Scouts Guide To The Zombie Apocalypse.

Not to give away toooo much the premise is a smart one, think Groundhogs Day meets I Know What You Did Last Summer or Scream.

And the lead actress Jessica Rothe = hubba hubba ding ding!

Good one, any other movies in that vein you could recommend? Early / mid 90s drama

I dunno. Fargo is unique. You could check out the TV series. That was really good.

"Batman vs. Two-Face" (2017)

This sequel to the successful "Batman & Robin: Return of the Caped Crusaders" animated movie is another campy-cool cartoon treat for fans of the '60s "Batman" TV show. Adam West and Burt Ward reunite one last time (the film is dedicated to West's memory) to provide the voices of the Dynamic Duo, untangling a mysterious series of crimes masterminded by the evil Two-Face, who's voiced by William Shatner. The always-welcome Julie Newmar drops in to provide Catwoman's voice too. Tons of tongue-in-cheek Bat-fun.

My kids hadn't seen The Purge, and it was mentioned in the latest Superstore which reminded me episode so I whacked it on.

Best bit was that at the end they said "it's now 7am March 22 and the Purge is over"

Which means that The Purge starts at 7pm March 21.

Right now, where I am, it's 12:07pm.

Under 7 hours until my Purge  :drink:

A Prayer For The Dying (1987) - decent thriller based on a Jack Higgins novel....

Coogan's Bluff (1968) - Clint Eastwood flick from the sixties which hasn't held up well....something about movies from the 60s, they are usually painful to watch...the clothing, the music and the slang make you want to laugh...

Annihilation (2018) - decent sci-fi flick but don't expect anything fantastic...worth checking out for fans of the genre...

Coco (2017) - animated film which got great reviews but was just okay for me...too musical for my tastes...

Blue Mountain State - Rise Of Thadland.

I haven't seen this yet, but i am looking forward to it.

Someone mentioned Blue Mountain State (TV Series) earlier in the tread and I'm in to season 2 now.

Amazing series. Any fans of Porky's, American Pie, Road Trip etc will love it.
Surprised they get away with a lot of it, such as "oil changes" - inserting a tube and injecting 'clean' urine into their bladders to pass drug tests.

Anyway, once I get through the series I'll do the movie.

"Coneheads" (1993)
"CONSUME MASS QUANTITIES!"
Dan Aykroyd and Jane Curtin reprise their classic "SNL" roles as pointy-skulled aliens Beldar and Prymat, who find themselves stranded after their spaceship crashes on Earth. Forced to adapt to Earth society, they start a family and settle in the New Jersey suburbs ("We are from France"), until their peaceful existence is threatened by an Immigration agent (Michael "Spinal Tap" McKean) determined to send them back where they came from.
This silly, quotable slapstick sci-fi is one of the better SNL-to-movie translations. Sharp eyed fans will have fun catching the countless cameos by "SNL" stars past & present and other '90s comedy biggies incl. Garrett Morris, Laraine Newman, Chris Farley, Kevin Nealon, David Spade, Adam Sandler, Phil Hartman, Ellen DeGeneres, Michael "Kramer" Richards, Jason Alexander, and more.

    • It's ok. I think people know I am a massive Crue fan, and I like a lot of stuff by them that people hate (the Generation Swine album for example) but the only newer original song I have cared about them in recent years was The Dirt. Everything else has been either meh or crap. I did also like their cover of Like a virgin, which I know a lot of peeps didn't like, so it's not like I am just craving the good old days. I would be happy if we could get a song close to Afraid, Saints of Los Angeles or the aforementioned The Dirt. I think songs like that will be few and far between sadly.
    • Have to agree. Although my expectations were that it would be absolutely horrible like Dogs of War lol. Still far away from classic Motley Crue but I at least made it all the way through this one so that's a positive. Still nothing to write home about but at least it rocks fairly well and there's a semblance of a song there.
