The Ugly Truth

Another stupid romantic comedy but Katherine Heigl is hotter than ever. Yumm.

haha yup saw it on HBO with my wife the other day. At some point, it's quite funny actually, but together with the likes of 'The Proposal', it's just for small chuckles to kill time, not overly atrocious anyway :christmas:

just saw Liam Neeson's UNKNOWN, good movie, quite unpredictable before going to a cliche ending but good one

It seems we share the same HBO network. ;)

As for me I watched 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince' for the second time. I haven't seen the 'Deathly Hollows Pt. I' yet, so I have to get the DVD as soon as possible because I want to see the final film in the cinema. And the time is close. :)

Criminal Minds : Suspect Behaviour Ep 1

the spin-off from the famous TV series, focusing on Sam Cooper

first impression, this seems to be the weak version of the main series and they probably made this to capitalize CM's success. Sam Cooper's character is too dominating, the other guys don't seem to have a big contribution to the team unlike in CM where everyone's important, and profiling isn't very depth, so this is just like a mixture of Castle or NCIS threw in.

Still eager to watch the complete first season but need to lower my expectation i guess

Just watched GROWN UPS, didnt think I would like it and I was right. It could have been great, but I think this one lost it during editing. I would have given it a faster pace, quicker reactions and more screen time for the top stars. This is a comedy for people who think IN TOUCH magazine is advanced reading. Avoid :(

"Swamp Shark" (2011)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9K2mwr-TI8Q

A mutant shark invades a sleepy Louisiana bayou just in time for the town's big annual "Gator Fest." Much chomping, screaming, and hilarity ensues.

Yes, this was a SyFy Channel movie, as if you couldn't tell from the description, but this was actually a pretty decent one. Of course the CGI "shark" looked fake as hell but otherwise it seemed like some time & money went into the production. The presence of a couple of "real" actors (including Robert Davi, D.B. Sweeney, and Kristy Swanson, who by the way is still looking Buffy-licious after all these years) helps. Former baseball great Wade Boggs (!) even has a bit part as a redneck sheriff's deputy!

Certainly not a great movie by any means, but definitely better than most of the SyFy Channel sludge I've sat through recently.

Would that be "Mega Piranha" starring Tiffany (!) and Barry "Greg Brady" Williams? That was freakin' classic!

:rofl2:

Seriously though, I have a weakness for those damn SyFy Channel movies. 99 out of 100 of'em flat out suck, but some of em suck so bad that they're actually entertaining.

 That looks so horribly dreadful... and I want to see it! Downloading it now. Without getting to the really dreadful ones, which ones would you recommend to see most, Keef?

Well, keep in mind that I happen to enjoy "dreadful" movies so our definitions of that word may differ. Out of all the crazy SyFy Channel flicks I've seen lately, I really enjoyed "Mega Piranha" and its precursor, "Mega Shark Vs. Giant Octopus" (witness the epic trailer below)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fa7ck5mcd1o

The studio that makes all of these "Mega" movies (The Global Asylum) has something of a trademark going, where their films star long-lost '80s pop stars/sitcom actors/generally has-beens. "Mega Shark Vs. Giant Octopus" stars Debbie Gibson (!), "Mega Piranha" starred her old rival Tiffany. Then they put both of them in "Mega Python Vs. Gatoroid," which was completely f*cking ludicrous but was worth seeing just for the catfight scene between the two. :D

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S8pirKwkxb0

Then of course there's tons of generic monster mashes like "Boa Vs. Python"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SFo0nZ9sanc

Or "Ice Spiders"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tooc16OrWPk

Or dozens of others. Depending on your tolerance for horrible acting and cheap computer generated special effects, your mileage may vary. But Lord help me, I actually look forward to every Saturday night at 9 PM, when SyFy Channel premieres its latest "Original Movies."

Oh, and by the way, I haven't seen this one yet but the "Mega Shark" apparently survived its battle with the Giant Octopus, because it's back in a new sequel, "Mega Shark Vs. Crocasaurus!"

No, your eyes are not deceiving you... that is Jaleel "Steve Urkel" White as the heroic Military Dude.

Excellent! Thanks mate, I'm downloading a heap as we speak. I think the only one I missed in that lot was the 'Ice Spiders' one. I prefer these silly films to be out in the wild in some nice sunny scenery, with hopefully some scantily clad sexy ladiez. The 'Ice Spiders' one looks like it mostly takes place in some underground or inside facility... those ones bore me quickly. The Boa one looks like it might be similar, but I'll try it anyway. Looking forward to giving them a go...

I just thought of one. 'Titanic 2' is from these guys too, isn't it? I remember wanting to see that one too! :)

Yup, "Titanic 2" was an Asylum production. As was "Transmorphers," "Alien Vs. Hunter," "The Terminators," and a host of others.

I wrote an article about their bizarro-world monster mashes on HubPages a while ago, with trailers included, which oughta keep you busy for a while:

Or you can check out The Asylum's official site for all your Mega-Sharkin' needs: http://www.theasylum.cc/

(P.S. No, I don't work for the Asylum. I wish I did. I just think they're cool. :D)
