While it's not amongst the ones you listed, I always thought Balance was Van Halen's best sounding album during the Hagar years.

Probably Bon Jovi SWW

Best Sounding for me would be the DRN debut. Brilliant production.

SWW sounded great as well.

I agree it could have been a ballsier, fuller sound. Just mentioning my favourite album at the time of posting. I think I rated both the Bon Jovi albums higher than it... I think? Not sure, too lazy to check... but it's how I was feeling on the day.

SWW for me.

Interesting story is Bon Jovi heard Black N Blue "Without Love" and hired Fairbairn to make them sound like that on SWW.

Haha, I don't think there's any rules, mate. I'm just going on the total package for me personally - production combined with the actual album and what comes out on top for me.

The 4 Loverboy albums he did  are immense. DRN was great too as well as Honeymoon Suite 'The Big Prize'. A Great producer who is sadly missed
