James Gunn has just put up a playlist for his upcoming TV show "Peacemaker" and it is essentially the soundtrack.

Think it's pretty damn impressive list of bands and songs for the most part.

It is a good playlist. Quick look and the only band I can see that I hate is Bang Camaro. There are a few I don't know like Enemies Swe, John Murphy, Dustbowl Jokies, and Band Maid.

Band Maid are one of my fave modern rock bands. Not for everyone though as they sing in Japanese.

No idea who Murphy is, but at least he has Ralph Saenz (Michael Starr) with him for some familiarity.

Googling "John Murphy" brings up a film composer, so I'm thinking maybe it's just a cover of Foster the People's big hit. Reworked by John Murphy, and sung by Ralph Saenz.

I just found out my buddy worked on this show. I knew John Cena was in town. Obviously this is what he was filming. That's cool. So I'm guessing the series is set in New York? If it's shot in Vancouver, it's usually set in New York. ;}

It's supposedly in a place called Evergreen. No idea if it's real or not.

It appears James Gunn is a genuine fan of our genre. This is from a Rolling Stone article:

You have a reputation at this point for coming up with soundtracks that match the personality of your characters. Why glam metal for Peacemaker?

It just seems like that is the kind of music that Peacemaker would like. For the last few years, I’ve also had this personal obsession with what people call “hair metal” music. So that dovetails perfectly into making this show. It might have even been part of the reason why I chose Peacemaker out of all the characters in The Suicide Squad. I was a punk rock kid growing up, so I had an appreciation for some pop metal bands. I liked Mötley Crüe and certain things. Hanoi Rocks, which we talk about a lot over the course of the season, was a really important band to me. But I also pooh-poohed a lot of hair metal music. I think there’s great songs in every genre of music if you look hard enough. And I became obsessed with finding really good hair metal bands and songs, and started this massive collection on my own on Spotfiy, and through that discovered all of these great modern sleaze-rock bands, that are mostly out of northern Europe, making music today. And I think they’re much better in general than your average hair metal bands from the Eighties because they don’t take it so seriously. It’s a commitment to fun. And part of the idea was getting the word out on some of those modern bands, like Wig Wam or Cruel Intentions.

Man haven't listened to this tune in a long time. What a killer tune. Will surely start my day off with this song.

    • Wow, why go through all that for just lies.
    • Looks like complete bullshit. Look at all of the videos from this channel: https://www.youtube.com/@infogaming786/videos
    • Is this true, I don't see much about it anywhere else?
    • Well they just posted this on Facebook, so I would certainly hope this is a sign a new album is incoming
    • Sounds pretty good all round...just preordered..released 22nd Nov
    • Luckily I will hopefully be front row so wont make a mess on anyones back.
    • If we never hear from you again, at least we'll know you went out with a smile on your face.
    • Wow! Thank you so much mate. That's a massive compliment. That was the first one I wrote and I think it's my favourite so far. Like Geoff, I'm tending to draw on past personal experiences for my lyrics and that one means a lot. I was thrilled when the AI came up with that interpretation.
    • Well this is some excellent news. Going to see Sophie Lloyds first headline show on 17th Oct in London (tiny club called The Underworld) and it has just been announced that the support act will be Chez Kane... can I handle two fit birds peforming on stage or will my heart give out before the show is over?
    • I don't rate or grade albums with any kinda numbering system or percentage. All I do is think which were the albums I enjoyed most, which generally means got played the most (I mean you don't play the worst albums over and over again for months), with memorable songs. Then when it comes to what order they go in. Once again, I just go with what I feel got the most airplay for me over the course of time. Obviously an album released in Jan is gonna potentially have more play time than one released in November, but It's down to longevity as well. If I play an album solidly for a month then move on, it's probably gonna be top 10, but if other albums are still being played regularly 3 or more months after release, those are gonna rank higher. I mean this year Judas Priest was a fairly early release in the year, but I am still playing it now, although  not as often. Then an album like Mick Mars which I loved, but has kinda fallen off my radar in the last six months, will rank a lot lower. I try to not go for recency bias as well even though I have been listening to one album in my top 10 for only a week, but it was such an insantaneous album I know its gonna get heavy play time for the next few months.
