My resolution for 2022 in this forum is to try really hard not to engage in political talk... I'm gonna try... 😀

Let's talk about the US stock market instead.In 2021 here are some numbers:

Dow Jones up 18.7 %

S&P 500 up 26.9 %

Nasdaq up 21.4 %

The current year-over-year inflation rate (2021 to 2022) is now 6.81%. If this number holds, $63 today will be equivalent in buying power to $67.29 next year. The current inflation rate page gives more detail on the latest inflation rates.

While the stock market returns are good for my superannuation, I feel that the cost of living is increasing. Apart from avocados. $1 avocados seem set to stay, which is good for my breakfast bottom line. 😜

Yep those numbers are nice and my investments are looking good.....the Dems need a publicist as they should be taking at least some credit for this because if the Reps were in power they would be screaming about how their policies were responsible for the health of the stock markets.....and the right wing media would be blowing so much hot air over it that it would double the speed of climate change...

If we were all being honest, we know that the president, whichever stripe, has little to do with whether speculators and investors panic or not over future profit predictions. Just be happy your investments are going well as if they tank, we won't get bailed out with taxpayer dollars like the fat cats on Wall Street will by whatever party currently sits in the White House at the time.

Unless the government has intervened in production or trade. Then, yes it is partly their fault/benefit depending on the outcome.

I'm just enjoying this time right now where the US economy is strong and the stock market is reflecting that.
