Agree.

I kind of don't mind Primeval Desire even though that does get a bit screamy.  Children of the Night has grown on me a little bit.

If these guys would done a whole album full of tunes more geared toward melodic hard rock like the 4 I mentioned, they really would've had an outstanding album.

Still pretty good though and a band worth watching to see what direction they head in.

Yeah but they wear their hearts on their sleeve and clearly are paying homage to the bands that grew up on with the heavier stuff...just would like that they stick to what suits em best...the more melodic side.

Yeah, I agree with what you guys are saying too. I enjoyed this album, and I actually like a couple of the ballsier tunes (like 'Primeval Desire' and 'Children Of The Night'), but I found it hard to understand the dude, or hear much of what he's singing on the heavier tunes. I agree the melodic stuff is their better part, and to be fair, 'Clear the blur' kind of blew me away. That is one killer tune.

I thought their debut was okay but needed bigger hooks and all in all, I think this album is much better than the debut. It's not perfect, but they've taken all steps in the right direction, and if they keep on this trajectory album three could be an absolute belter.

The last album was their second album, not debut. Most people missed out on the first as it was only ever released in India, and its been deleted for quite a while.

lol, I hate when people do that and now I'm one of them. I genuinely had no idea. Apologies for the misinformation. You haven't heard the album, have you? I must admit, I'm in no rush to track it down, personally. ;)

Nah, I didn't get into the band until a little time before the second album, and by then the debut was already deleted.

I think I heard one of the singles from album 2 and then a bunch of covers they did (which are great btw, especially the AC/DC medley they do as the singer nails both Scott and Johnsons style). Did speak to one of them around that time, and he did say that they were trying to get the rights back to the debut so they could re-release it, but never heard anything beyond that.

Alright Geoff, you're spreading misinformation.

You're about to be cancelled mate!

Ooh, was just playing the Hail to the heroes music video and started reading the blurb under the video and saw this interesting piece of info "The debut album, currently unavailable on streaming platforms, will be reissued by Frontiers at a later date."

Just found this cover from last year. Not many people can do Miljenko justice when they cover his songs, but I think this is about as good as anyone could get.

1. Far out that song is just incredible. Reminds me I really need to stick those two Steelheart CDs in my jukebox and play those mofos asap.

2. I was actually listening to the opener on the new album. I was enjoying the riffage and stuff, but I was listening... well, trying to listen to the vocals, buried beneath a wall of sound, thinking "Didn't this guy have a really good voice? Why are they burying him?"

There's other songs where he shines on the disc, but he's not a voice to bury in the mix.

What a great voice. I love voices with that range that also have a bit of grit to them. Guitarist is no slouch either.

When I spoke to one of the band around the time the 2nd album came out he said that it was not available due to rights, so assume the label owned the songs but not the rights to sell them or something like that. All I could really take from the conversation is whatever deal was in place meant that when the contract ended, nobody could sell the music, not the band or the label.

    • Reset - Runaway Heart I can’t find a damn thing about this band on the interwebs! Does anyone out there know of a website or FB page for them? Is there a CD coming out?    @Mr.AOR @Stefan @Geoff @heavyharmonies
    • Lots of positive reviews coming out Pearcy’s performance at this years M3 festival in Maryland.    Vocals: Stephen Pearcy  Drums: Blas Elias Lead Guitar: Johnny Monaco Guitar: Erik Ferentinos Bass: Matt Thorne
    • I hate that Collective Soul is considered alternate. When they were popular they were promoted as active rock, which I'm not sure what that is but it sounds a lot closer what they do than alternate rock. To me, alternative is REM and Pavement and the like.
    • The reason I mentioned Alter Bridge and Scott Stapp's solo stuff is because I don't think it's too far off from Creed. Myles Kennedy obviously has a more dynamic voice than Stapp but musically they're very similar. At the end of the day as I've said I love this site and if Dan decided to strip it down to the bare bones and build a site from the ground up starting with Journey and Poison and I would still support it.
    • I get the idea of keeping the site pure but if you look at the genres of music on HH listed on the site not even all of them fit into the AOR/Melodic Rock sub genres and if you submit a cd there's even more categories. If the site was strictly AOR & Melodic Rock it would still be an amazing database but it's also, sleaze, glam, southern rock, blues rock, hard rock and modern hard rock and there's a lot more to those genres to explore.
    • My two cents... This site's database was probably the single biggest factor in me getting into the AOR/melodic rock subgenre, and I was like a kid in a candy shop for a while because I knew *almost* every artist on here would appeal to me and fit what I was looking for. Finding new music you enjoy is one of life's greatest pleasures and for a while this site was my go-to. I'll always be grateful to Dan and the rest of the contributors for that. That being said, I worry that it will lose a lot of that appeal if it just starts adding a bunch of artists that play rock music but do not fit in the AOR/melodic rock subgenre. There are a few bands on here that are already pushing it and if every artist with two guitars and a big snare drum gets admitted, what's separating this database from any other? We are all fans of a type of music that is quite "niche" these days but that's what makes the site special. tl;dr I vote no on all of them. I vote no on Creed twice.
    • There is always gonna be a fine line between what is an is not gonna cut the mustard on here. As I said before, Cornell is an amazing singer and the stuff he did with Audioslave was certainly deserving of a place on the site as there was so much 70s hard rock/metal to their sound. But Soundgarden certainly does not fit beyond a few songs here and there. And his solo stuff is all over the place genre wise. His James Bond theme, you know my name is one of my favourite hard rock songs of all time and if he had released a whole album in that style, I would whole heartedly support that being on the site, but as much as I really like his Carry on album, it just does not belong here. And I would be really against stuff like Pearl Jam and Creed not because I flat out hate them, but just because I don't think they really fit. There are bands I love I would not want on here, and there are bands I hate who I fully support them being on here (The Darkness for example). The other thing to consider, as it was mentioned by someone, it does not matter if certain members of a band have albums on here, that does not mean there other bands belong on here. Audioslave yes, Soundgarden and RATM, no. Scott Stapp (can't really comment) but Creed, no. Mother Love Bone, yes. Pearl Jam, no. And with some of the other bands mentioned, like The Cars. It's a slippery slope, as where do you stop? Should Dire Straits be on here? Bruce Springsteen? Huey Lewis? Mellencamp? All artists I really like, but don't think they have a place.
    • Really looking forward to a couple of upcoming releases as well. Maverick is sounding promising, and most hyped for The Warning as all singles released from that so far have been top notch. Plus there is the new Rolling Quartz EP on the horizon.
