I love the first three albums from this band.

But I was very disappointed in the last album, thought it was very weak.

I think this new one is better but it's nowhere near the first few albums

Yeah, I agree that it doesn't come close to when Santa Cruz were a band. 

But I have to say, I quite enjoy the new album. 

On this new album, I find that some of the heavy tracks irritate me a bit, specifically his voice. Just sounds too rough. But I must say, I actually like the album quite a bit. The first two songs are shit, and I don't care much for 'Standing My Ground' but outside of that, the rest of the album is all keepers to my ears. The melodic stuff like 'Dissarm me,' '1000 Cigarettes' and 'Would You Believe It,' I must admit, I was not expecting. And they're nice. As are the harder rockers like 'Under The Gun,' '10 Shots,' 'Another Round,' and 'Gunshot.' And I'm yet to hear a rock/metal version of 'Stay' that isn't awesome, and this is no different. 

Good album. I dig.

So I finally bit the bullet and bought this and unsurprisingly it really is not that great. Certainly not terrible as I do have a wide taste in music, but it's not what I want from Santa Cruz. The self titled album is still untouchable for me, as they really mixed the heavier elements well with their original hard rock style, but this just feels like an angry dude who was maybe not the main song writer just being angry for the sake of it.

One thing I noticed straight away was the direct lifting of lyrics from Marilyn Manson in the song Take me to America:
