They should have just gone with 1975. "The" kills the flow of their name. To each his own, but this song does nothing for me. Can't see the OMD (who I dig) influence. I think The Goodnight blow these guys outta the water. Thanks for sharing though.

The "The" is intentional, and the whole reason they named themselves that.

I agree that it does sound weird, but, like I said, that's why they named themselves that. It comes from a poetry book Matthew Healy read, with the date written as "1 June, The 1975" in the back.

1? Seriously? They were never a huge favourite of mine, but I can think of a handful of great songs by them - Enola Gay, Souvenir, Joan Of Arc, Maid Of Orleans, If You Leave ... perhaps you needed to have grown up in the UK in the 80s to appreciate them
