I know there is a big thread with talk about the best albums for 2015...But how about songs? I like going back through these kinds of threads when I'm looking for something new to check out and often it helps to know what people suggest at the best songs to check out.

Maybe list something like your top 5 to 10...

I'll admit I didn't buy a whole lot in 2015...But these are songs I find myself going back to and I guess were the first to jump in my head:

1) Dangerous - Def Leppard

2) Wide Open - Eclipse

3) Wings Of An Angel - Def Leppard

4) The Storm - Eclipse

5) Better Safe Than Sorry - Degreed

6) With Me Tonight - Station

7) Need You To Understand - Art Nation

8) Are You Sleeping Alone - Station

9) Apocalyptic - Halestorm

Martina Edoff - I Am Mining

Haha, even with those lyrics?! ;)

14. ART NATION – Look To The Sky

Wow mate. And not just because everyone else hated it so much. I actually didn't... don't even think it's the worst song on the album. But this good? Too each their own, I guess. ;)

I didn't hear a lot in 2015 that made my fav's list

Holy shit mate, what happened to you? You burst onto the site and seemed to have pretty good tastes. Sorry mate, but that's just a terrible list. You sure the music on this site is still where your heart is at? Doesn't seem like it. :( Seems like you actually kind of hate it...

To each their own, mate, but if you think Buckethead and Avril Lavigne are releasing better songs than Care of Night, Santa Cruz, Art Nation, Revolution Saints and Station... I dunno mate. Not to point out the glaringly obvious, but you may have done your dash with this style of music?

Eclipse, Degreed, Issa and Find Me are excellent, and I don't mean to spoil the surprise, but you're going to hate them. Based on your recent commentary, trust me. ;)

The guitar work in those Buckethead tracks is top notch. I'd not heard the acoustic version to that Avril track before and it was on a compilation released last year and i really liked it but i'm not sure when it was originally released.

Care of Night, Santa Cruz, Art Nation, Revolution Saints and Station are either too busy sound wise or just don't have that magic something to make my ears go wow. They haven't got bad tracks on them, they just haven't got great ones either to my ears.

2014 had a few gems that got added to my fav's. Adrenaline Mob, Ammunition, Amaranthe, Anti-Mortem, A Breach of Silence, Buckethead, Enabler, Eye of the Enemy, Fate Control, H.E.A.T., Rodrigo Y Gabriela, Slash, Tainted Nation and Toseland.

I don't think my ears are adjusting to the way modern melodic rock is being recorded nowadays

Always interested in your picks... just checked out a few of these I didn't know:

1. Is your number one song... is that the guy from Hootie and the Blowfish??? Okay tune, not in love with the country influence.

2. Bridge to Grace sounds good. I'll have to check out the album. Is it a good one?

3. Old Dominion sounds pretty cool - nice tune, but there's some country in that again, hey? Is the album all with this same influence of country?

4. Southern Gentlemen - love their stuff. Why do I not have this? What's the story with these guys again? They were another band and changed their name? Sounds great.

We found Bridge to Grace after someone posted

in the Modern Music to Check Out thread a couple of years ago. They finally got around to releasing a proper CD with some new tracks. I liked the two I mentioned. The rest didn't do anything for me.

    • I wonder what control they have over the releases? That have promoted the BMG individual releases. The 2009 reissues were by original label, EMI. And this boxset seems weird being issued by Cherry Red. And I have not seen the bands social media promote it at all. I wonder if the reason the BMG ones were lacking in the bonus tracks from the previous reissue was EMI holding onto the rights, but have now allowed Cherry Red to release them. I know EMI used to be the distributer for Cherry Red, so they may be more forthcoming with the material.
    • Yep, cracking indie release of which there are so many but this one is actually really good.
    • I have been a Band Maid fan since their early days (2015) as I really don't mind foreign vocals as long as the music is great, but I always kinda avoided Babymetal as I saw a video of them once and really wasn't impressed with the kiddy vocals, so never gave them another chance. Fast forward to now and on the back of the collab with Electric Callboy I have decided to give them a go. I thought they had a huge discography as they have like 25 albums, but on closer inspection it is only four studio albums and 21 live albums. As I am not a fan of live albums anyway, I decided to buy the four studio albums as they are all quite cheap. Have to say there music is a mixed bag, but overall really enjoying a lot of it. Not sure if I just picked the wrong song to start with, or if it is just that I have adapted more due to getting into a lot of weird and wonderful foreign bands over the last few years, but I am glad I finally gave them a proper go. Have to say, if this song was sung in English I think they would have a lot of fans on here
    • Babymetal - Metal resistance Babymetal - The other one
    • Enjoyed their last cd "Human Nature" remind me of a mellower Black Stone Cherry, similar to Little Caesar.
    • BlackRain - Hot Rock Time Machine Lee Aaron - Bodyrock
    • Now theres a blast from the past  I'm lucky enough to possess
    • Another i'm still awaiting the arrival of...same day release/delivery my arse Amazon  Still this is sounding like their best release thus far...they are gaining and getting better...although I did enjoy the last few albums also...but the sound/production from this one is excellent.
    • Still awaiting mine to arrive...should've been on Weds  or according to my order that was the case anyway
