On a quest to find a song

First of all, hello, and thank you for letting me join your forum. I'm a long time AOR/melodic rock/ and glam-sleaze fan--going back to before I even knew what any of that was. But what brought me here is a song, and I really hope that your collective knowledge can help me.

I'll try to be brief.

I work 3rd at a grocery store and they tend to change up the "soundtrack" every few months. This past autumn they changed to one I'd never heard, and it had a song that I, and at least two others out here on the interwebs, have been dying to find. I figured a quick Google search of the lyrics would lead me right to it, but I was wrong.

My searches have led me to two other people searching for this song; one on a New Wave music forum (though it's not really a New Waveish song) and the other a few days ago in a Yahoo! questions thread (where I got my best lead yet).

Here's what I know.

Lyrics:

"Everybody who's challenging better get out of my way, I'm taking no prisoners after all this is my day, (Chorus) I'm gonna over (over) the red line, I'm gonna go over (over) the red line. I can't lie this is countdown time and nothing's going to change my mind, I'm gonna go over the red line."

Sound: It sounds like the kind of song that would be used in an 80s movie montage; Not like Rocky or The Karate Kid. More like Young Blood, Vision Quest or American Anthem. A teen/young adult sports flick. I'd compare the band to someone like FM.

The best evidence I have is a sound clip recorded by the young lady on Yahoo! (she also works at a grocery store). When I replied she emailed it to me (BTW, she's already tried Shazam and Soundhound). It's decent quality. Hopefully it's enough for someone who knows it to recognize it. Unfortunately I can't figure out a way to upload it here, but if someone knows a way, please let me know. Otherwise I'd be happy to email it to you (I definitely don't want to break any forum rules in this regard, however). It's only 648kb. Scanned and perfectly clean. It came out as a Quicktime file, but I can choose to play it with Windows Media Player or VLC Media Player no problem. My email address is teewill555@gmail.com.

Thank you in advance!

It's a cool song but I couldn't find anything on it. Maybe some of the posters here who are into some obscure AOR would know.

I know, right? In an age when every answer is only a click away it's amazing there's no trace of this song out there.

I really do appreciate everyone who has given this their time so far.

I was walking out of the Kroger grocery store in Roanoke, VA this morning when I heard this song and tried to SoundHound it. No luck. I remembered as many lyrics as I could and entered them into my phone before I forgot and found these posts, which led me to the sound clip provided here in this discussion forum.

Mystery solved! Just out of curiosity, I Shazamed the sound clip away from the noise of the grocery store to see if it would pick up, and sure enough, it did.

The song is "Red Line" by Michael Kisur.

Funny how the original poster has since disappeared ....

No, haven't disappeared. Never got any emails alerting me of responses (thought I would automatically, but looks like I needed to check "follow this topic" box. My bad.). Came back today to tell everyone I found out who it was... but you beat me to the punch. Nice work everyone, and thank you.

I also checked Kisur's website and then emailed him, but thus far no response. I even saw a post on his Facebook from someone asking this exact same question (Dated Feb. 9th). It's a small number of people seeking this song, but it's growing.

In the time since I last posted I heard another song on our music system and it sounded a lot like Kisur. Sure enough it is. It's called "All I wanna do (Is you)" and it was apparently used on the soap All My Children. Maybe Redline/Red Line was used on a TV show as well (He's apaprently done a lot of work for Soaps, as well as the old fantasy series Witchblade.

Anyway, thank you all again for your efforts. I really do appreciate it. If I hear anything/find anything else, I'll come back and let you know.

Lol! This song is spreading like a virus. It makes sense that you heard it at Fry's since it's a part of the Kroger empire family of stores.

A quick note on the other Kisur song I mentioned, "All I wanna do (is you)". I tracked it down and it's not the same song that I heard @ Kroger. Funny that I thought it was him, he had a song title matching the lyrics, but it's not the same.

Surprisingly no, it's a totally different song. All I could make out from the one I heard at work is the chorus, which I think goes "All I wanna do. Yeah, all I wanna do.". It's sorta like something the 80s group The Outfield ("Lose your love", "Winning it all") might have done, but it sounded like Kisur singing. And when I searched Kisur/All I wanna do and got hits for "All I wanna do (is you)" I thought "Bingo!". Unfortunately, it's not it. Kisur's song is quite cheesy. Likely one of the songs he did for a daytime Soap Opera.

    • Added Framing the Red over on the main site recently: Framing the Red discography reference list of music CDs. Heavy Harmonies Their website: Framing The Red Their Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/framingtheredband Their YouTube channel: (23) Framing the Red Official Page - YouTube They have four releases, and all are quite good in my opinion. If I had to describe them, I'd say this is what Gunshine would sound like if they went in a more southern rock direction.  Here are some of my favorite tracks... Crossroads   Whiskey & Weed   Holy Water   Mississippi Hippie   Heroes   Bonnie & Clyde   Rockin' Into the Night (38 Special cover)   "Crossroads" and "Heroes" are probably my two faves.  *I will give a word of warning:  if you decide to purchase any of their discs, they are barebones releases with just the CD in a cardboard slipcase. I enjoy the music enough that that's not an issue for me though.  @lettard @KarpetRydOFunk @tts42572 @AlphaMale @Dead Planet @Mr.AOR @tobi is an animal I think all of you gentlemen should give these guys a listen and see what you think.
    • H.E.A.T - 1000 Miles Vega - Hands In The Air The Defiants - Stay Issa - River of Love I'm at work right now so that's all I know off the top of my head but I'll look through my library for more when I get a chance.
    • Maybe anything by the Darkness
    • Wig wam - hard to be a rock n roller
    • Saw these guys first time a couple of years ago, when they were 16-17 years old, they are absolutely awesome. They have been touring for a few years now, performing their own songs, yet haven't released anything, until now. I have tickets to see them this saturday, opening for Mercenary. First single and video:
    • I want to compile quite an extensive playlist of hard rock songs that has a key change in the end. Why? Cause I think it sounds awesome Some well known exambles are: Bon Jovi - Living On a Prayer Wig Wam - In My Dreams Danger Danger - Don't Blame it on Love H.E.A.T - Beg Beg Beg
    • My Japan copy showed up today. I was critical of the Part I album as that one just did very little for me.  Basically, I just didn't think the songs were all that catchy and/or memorable.  I played that album a handful of times trying to get into it and gave up rather quickly which was disappointing as I loved Wired.  Maybe I just had too high of expectations or something.  I know many liked that album but for me at least, that Megalomanium I album would be ranked toward the bottom of their discography. Well, after hearing this new one, I'm feeling the opposite....Here I feel like they nailed it and I'm digging this one after the first listen.  I basically couldn't wait to start it over and listen again. The first 5 songs just come out guns a blazing with catchy, hook filled songs.  Yeah, we've heard 4 of those songs as singles but I almost purposely haven't listened to those songs much so they'd still sound fresh when the album dropped.  Then the one song we hadn't heard, All I Want, is just another upbeat, catchy tune. The 2nd half though is where things probably get more interesting.  Songs like Dive Into You and To Say Goodbye are the kinds of varied balladish/mid-tempo type songs I've been wanting Eclipse to mix things up with and there's 2 of those songs here, both very well done IMO.  Then there's a couple heavier tunes like Divide & Conquer and One In A Million that sound like stuff that could've been on Bleed & Scream.  And then a couple other melodic rockers with Until the War is Over and Pieces. I also feel like this has some of the better lyrics that Eclipse has had in awhile.  I think a lot of their material recently has been just been sort of lighter subject matter, 3 minute "simplistic" romps.  I felt Part I had a lot of that which kind of contributed to it being less interesting.  Here though, it seems like some of these songs get a bit deeper and can feel more emotion in songs like Still My Hero, Dive Into You and To Say Goodbye for example.   Anyways, where Part I is among my least favorite Eclipse albums, I'd say my early impression of Part II is that it'll be among my favorite Eclipse albums.
    • New song 'Unbreakable'.
    • Solid hard rock album. Nothing really stood out to me, but it’s solid.
