Okay, you may not consider them all 'novelty' pop songs, but they aren't exactly serious. Which one would you most like to hear a rock or metal cover version of and which band would like to do it?

A completely pointless poll because I'm bored and fed up. Just thought it might be good for a laugh.

Personally I think I'd like to see 'We All Stand Together' given the Yngwie Malmsteen treatment.

Don't know half and hate the other half, so no vote for me.

I would like to hear a good hard rocking version of that 'Toy soldiers' song, sung by some female and I think it was on the soundtrack to a movie of the same name? Not sure. Not a novelty song at all as I love the original, but would love a new version of it too.

Didn't Rainbow do a version of "Over the Rainbow" on the "On Stage" disc.

I was just thinking "I'm sure I've heard a version of 'Over The Rainbow' somewhere before." And thinking it wasn't that bad either. (Therefore, as long as done right, I don't think I'd mind hearing that again.)

Although, I can't say I'd disagree with Geoff either. I remember playing the shit out of that Martika tape (particularly 'Toy Soldiers' while I was in high school).

I'm pretty sure it was just used as the intro of the show before they ripped into Kill The King

Sorry about the thread, I was really fed up yesterday. Spent most of the day trying to get people to do their jobs so I could concentrate on mine, with limited success.

Surprised that electricguitarified versions of these don't appeal, even for humour value. I do see your point to a degree though; if someone did a rock version of 'Come On Eileen' or Cliff Richard's 'Mistletoe and Wine', I'd have to smash every TV and radio in the house to avoid accidentally hearing it, as I find those songs aurally excruciating.

And I agree 100% about 'Toy Soldiers', a fantastic tune. I'd spent the last few years thinking it was guilty pleasure and hiding my shame!

I wanna hear one of the German thrash bands (i.e. Kreator, Destruction, Tankard, Sodom, etc.) do a hyperspeed cover of "Pac-Man Fever"....

Nice idea. Although I think a funeral doom version could be even funnier.
