HELIX: Two New Songs Available For Streaming - Oct. 11, 2009

Canadian hard rockers HELIX will release their new album, "Vagabond Bones", in Canada on November 17 via Universal/Fontana. Singer Brian Vollmer has been collaborating with Sean Kelly (CRASH KELLY) on material for the CD, which was mixed by engineer Aaron Murray.

Two songs from the album — "Vagabond Bones" and "Hung Over But Still Hanging In" — are available for streaming in the YouTube clips below. Vollmer says, "The soundtrack for 'Hung Over' [in the YouTube clip below] is not the finished master track. The mastered version is the one that has Russ 'Killer Dwarf' Russell singing a duet with me on the track."

"Vagabond Bones" tentative track listing (not final sequence):

01. The Animal Inside (Won't Be Denied)

02. Go Hard or Go Home

03. Vagabond Bones

04. Monday Morning Meltdown

05. When The Bitter's Got The Better Of You

06. Hung Over But Still Hanging In

07. Best Mistake I Never Made

08. Make 'Em Dance

09. Jack It Up

Vollmer's track-by-track description of "Vagabond Bones" can be found on the band's official web site.

The track "Vagabond Bones" is classic sounding Helix. The video was pretty darn funny too with the dancing skeleton. The second track didn't do much for me. But it's definitely piqued my interest to hear the rest of the album.

You can listen to the whole thing on www.planethelix.com The song "Best Mistake I Never Made" is just awesome! The rest of the album is solid. I'd think about picking it up in a trade or something someday, but I still haven't rushed out to buy it.

Thanks Chris. I think you told me that already but I keep forgetting to check out samples. :anon:

Like their last few releases I have no interest in picking this up. The band just can't come anywhere close to what they had in the 80's/early 90's which is very unfortunate. I just haven't liked any of their recent stuff. That being said, I would be the first in line to a show if they ever get anywhere near my neck of the woods.

I think you should rethink this Rick. I have this album and it's worth picking up. And we will take in a Helix concert together, yes, yes we will :beerbang:

    • Looks like a pretty nice compilation to me. That said, this sort of stuff doesn't interest me at all anymore.  There was probably a time it would've but now it's just too easy to make your own playlists in spotify to bother.
    • Thankfully newer songs are at a minimum, but I really can't see fans voting for stuff from the new album even if they were the two best songs on that album
    • Final track listing revealed. Time to see if it is a genuine vote or the band/label putting in shit from the newer albums DISC 1 1 Livin' On A Prayer リヴィン・オン・ア・プレイヤー 2 It's My Life イッツ・マイ・ライフ 3 Born To Be My Baby ボーン・トゥ・ビー・マイ・ベイビー 4 These Days ジーズ・デイズ 5 In These Arms イン・ジーズ・アームズ 6 Always オールウェイズ 7 Have a Nice Day ハヴ・ア・ナイス・デイ 8 Runaway 夜明けのランナウェイ 9 You Give Love a Bad Name 禁じられた愛 10 I'll Be There for You アイル・ビー・ゼア・フォー・ユー 11 Keep The Faith キープ・ザ・フェイス 12 Bed Of Roses ベッド・オブ・ローゼズ 13 Bad Medicine バッド・メディシン 14 Wanted Dead or Alive ウォンテッド・デッド・オア・アライヴ 15 Blood on Blood ブラッド・オン・ブラッド 16 Legendary レジェンダリー DISC 2 1 Never Say Goodbye ネヴァー・セイ・グッドバイ 2 Someday I'll Be Saturday Night サムデイ・アイル・ビー・サタデイ・ナイト 3 She Don't Know Me シー・ドント・ノウ・ミー 4 Lay Your Hands On Me レイ・ユア・ハンズ・オン・ミー 5 Dry County ドライ・カウンティ 6 This Ain' t A Love Song ディス・エイント・ア・ラヴ・ソング 7 Wild Is the Wind ワイルド・イズ・ザ・ウィンド 8 Tokyo Road TOKYOロード 9 Everyday エヴリデイ 10 I Believe アイ・ビリーヴ 11 I'd Die for You アイド・ダイ・フォー・ユー 12 Living Proof リヴィング・プルーフ 13 Bounce バウンス 14 We Weren't Born To Follow ウィー・ワーント・ボーン・トゥ・フォロー 15 Something for the Pain サムシング・フォー・ザ・ペイン 16 One Wild Night ワン・ワイルド・ナイト DISC 3 1 Raise Your Hands レイズ・ユア・ハンズ 2 Living in Sin リヴィング・イン・シン 3 Thank You for Loving Me サンキュー 4 Last Man Standing ラスト・マン・スタンディング 5 Undivided アンディヴァイデッド 6 Lost Highway ロスト・ハイウェイ 7 Wild In The Streets ワイルド・イン・ザ・ストリーツ 8 Just Older ジャスト・オールダー 9 Because We Can ビコーズ・ウィー・キャン 10 This House Is Not For Sale ディス・ハウス・イズ・ノット・フォー・セール 11 Who Says You Can't Go Home フー・セズ・ユー・キャント・ゴー・ホーム 12 Captain Crash & The Beauty Queen From Mars キャプテン・クラッシュ&ザ・ビューティー・クイーン・フロム・マーズ 13 Only Lonely オンリー・ロンリー 14 I Am アイ・アム 15 Burning For Love バーニング・フォー・ラヴ 16 Hey God ヘイ・ゴッド 17 Stick To Your Guns スティック・トゥ・ユア・ガンズ 18 Any Other Day
    • New song 'Angelina (Talk To Me)'.
    • New song 'No Angel'.
    • As long as they stick with the stuff I enjoy I don't mind...ill enjoy what I enjoy and they can release stuff that others may enjoy...win win for them. As Captain H pointed out other labels have already done this...they don't wanna be pigeonholed as one genre I suppose.
    • I get the feeling that they wanna sign a lot of bands but they don't wanna be seen signing to the "hair metal" label, so this makes 100% sense. I saw on here recently a post from a few months back discussing how weird it was for hair metal/aor bands to be signed to Napalm Records, and I kinda get that as it is known as an extreme metal label, but it has branched out so much over the years, same as Spinefarm. There will always be those who view things black and white (fans and bands) when it comes to things like record labels, so save on confusion and create sister labels. I could imagine them shifting their heavier stuff to a new label as well down the line. I mean lets face it, the main label is named after a Journey album, so you can kinda see why some bands would avoid them.
    • Anything created to promote our music is good news and Skunk Anansie are quality.
    • FRONTIERS EXPANSION, NEW LABEL IMPRINT AND MAJOR SIGNING NEWS! A special message from Serafino Perugino, President of Frontiers Label Group: Dear friends, I am thrilled to announce the creation of Frontiers Label Group, which will umbrella Frontiers Music Srl and further labels, the first of which is our new imprint FLG. This expansion allows us to diversify and strengthen our position in the rock and metal landscape, while continuing to uphold the values that have guided us since the beginning. While Frontiers Music Srl remains home to melodic rock, hard rock, and metal artists, FLG will be dedicated to pushing the boundaries of rock and alternative music. This bold step marks our continued evolution as a leader in the rock and metal genres, and it is with immense pride that we welcome rock icons Skunk Anansie to the FLG family as the first signing to our new imprint. The signing of Skunk Anansie is a meaningful moment in the history of Frontiers, an important landmark in our development as one of the leading international rock and metal labels. This is only the beginning! We are excited to bring more news and announcements in the coming months as we continue to grow and expand Frontiers Label Group, our imprints and our roster of incredible artists. Thank you for your continued support as we embark on this exciting new journey together! Long Live Rock n’ Roll!! Serafino
