  1. Have heard the album and it sounds great to me. And not bothered at all by tick...tick..boom. I've found it catchy and stuck in my head. Maybe I just was never overly into Skid Row so I'm not that bothered by all that happened with Bach. They were on a downhill trend with him anyways if you ask me as Subhuman Race was putrid. And for my tastes, this new album, while not better than the debut, is way better than Slave to the Grind for me . I have 4 songs from Slave in my main playlist (Monkey Business, Quicksand Jesus, Darkened Room and Wasted Time) and I'll have more than that from this album. Overall, I feel like if you have been "meh" on the singles, you'll feel the same about the album. Personally, I've dug the singles and dig the album. It'll likely be in my top 3 this year.
  2. I guess it's nice for the ultra super fans but easy pass for me. I'll check out the remastered versions on spotify though
  3. For me, Nickelback has been one of those bands I find myself enjoying some songs from but at the same time were never a band I overly got into or bought their CD's. As I scan my main spotify playlist, I have about 10-12 songs from them in it. They tend to get a bit samey for me if I listen too much to them but they're fine for me in moderation.
  4. New album out today. Gave it one listen and seems pretty decent and in line with their last album. Worth checking if you liked their last one.
  5. I thought their debut was average at best and frankly, didn't care for it at all. For me, Carnival Days and the Vibration EP were both fantastic though and full of catchy melodic hard rock tunes. This new one though is probably closer to their debut style wise IMO and I haven't found much about it I like outside of maybe a 2-3 tunes. For me they've taken a huge step backwards here. I thought this would be a can't miss album that I'd absolutely love but it'll be nowhere to be found on my year end lists.
  6. Kind of where I'm at too. I like a few tunes here and songs are okay but alot of the songs sort of feel samey. I think I've put 3 songs in my playlist from it.
  7. I'm with you and think it might be similar for me. I always loved H.E.A.T with Erik and was pretty much a Kenny basher as I wasn't a fan of those first 2 albums at all. I had very low expectations and really didn't think I'd care much for new music with Kenny. Anyways, I've slowly come around on Kenny as the singles were released and I'm enjoying the new album. Yeah, it's not exciting me quite as much as the Gronwall albums did but Kenny sounds excellent to my ears and I'm having no issues with sound or production. Just sounds like some good melodic hard rock to me.
  8. I had pre ordered also on Amazon but cancelled my order. Just not one I want to own. Not sure what the deal is with October 21st anyways though. Probably some kind of distribution issue with their new label Really not looking like it was a wise move leaving Frontiers.
  9. Maybe you'll have better luck than me with it. Seriously one of the most disappointing albums for me that I can remember. These guys had been on such a roll and an upward trajectory for me. This has sent them crashing back down. The songs just feel like they're all over the place. I had read somewhere that one reason they left Frontiers was because they wanted more creative control. If this is what that looks like, it was a big mistake IMO.
  10. Heard this and have to say this is probably my most disappointing album of the year. Granted, I was jacked up for this one and had high expectations. I loved Carnival Days, loved their Vibration EP and dug the singles they had come out with (Broken into Pieces, Fake Perfection, Scream and Disconnect from the Matrix). It almost pains me to say that this album though is just doing very little for me. First of all, Broken into Pieces and Fake Perfection weren't even included on the album and I feel like that was a mistake. Scream and Matrix are on it and those 2 are probably my top 2 songs on it. As for the rest, not much overly grabbed me on my first listen. There are a couple tunes that sound okay and might grow on me some but I found myself mostly just scratching my head and skipping through tunes. Overall just not finding it nearly as catchy as most of their recent stuff. I'll give it a couple more tries to see if it's maybe a grower but initial impression isn't great.
  11. Checked this out....not too bad but not sure how memorable it'll be. There's a few tunes I thought sounded pretty good after my first listen and do think Ronnie sounds excellent on the album Songs like Scream and Shot in the Dark both stood out to me a bit. I thought Last Man Alive sounded decent too. Much of the rest kind of feels like it falls in line with the first 2 singles that were released. It's kind of heavy which is cool but just not coming off as being that catchy or memorable initially which was sort of my same problem with the last album. We'll see what happens with more listens. Here's a link to the whole album:
  12. New single pretty blah to me. It's ok I guess but no desire to add that to a playlist or re-listen. These guys feel like a band that's underachieved a bit to me with their new music in the past 20 years or so after starting off so well with their first 3-4 albums. Yeah, there's been some good songs here and there but they just really haven't gotten near the quality of those early albums.
  13. My expectations are pretty low for this and my guess is there might only be a few tunes that grab me based upon the samples. I'm probably most interested to hear Scream. The singles so far haven't really struck a cord with me. I have to say though that I think I've also soured a little bit on projects like this. I want to throw my support behind "real" bands that I have a hope to see live someday and not just project type stuff. Don't get me wrong though....I'll still check it out and listen. Just not something I'll buy or get too excited about.
  14. I seem to recall many saying the same thing about Tearing Down the Walls? I guess I'm not really hearing it or it's just not bothering me. It all sounds fine to me. Or maybe I've just gotten used to it because everything is cranked up these days.
  15. Checked this out but not working for me. Music is cool but the singers vocals make me cringe.
  16. Agree. I think I enjoy it because my expectations were pretty low. Kenny isn't in Erik's league, that's for sure. Kenny probably is over signing but still sounds good to me. I'm finding myself enjoying a good amount of this album. I know I'm not caring for Demon Eyes and that definitely feels out of place. And One of Us isn't doing too much for me. I'm liking the rest though. I think Hold Your Fire, Not For Sale and Wings of an Aeroplane are my favorites of the songs that we hadn't already heard as singles. For sure not a 10/10 but I can see this in my top 5 this year. We'll see how it settles with more listens.
  17. My CD showed up today and have to say it's sounding pretty darn good to me. Yeah, it could be better with Erik. But no sense crying over spilt milk anymore. These guys still sound fantastic here and for me this album blows away those first 2 albums they did with Kenny. I was very skeptical with Kenny coming back on board and really didnt expect to care much for new stuff with him after not caring much for those first 2 albums. But I slowly came around and now I'm back on the train. This is just an excellent slice of melodic hard rock.
  18. I wasn't overly taken with the debut from Chez. I thought it as okay and showed some potential but I think I only tossed a couple songs from it in my playlist and never found myself overly getting into it. Anyways, pretty good tune here that definitely reminds me of 80's Heart. She seems to be finding a nice little niche in that throwback 80's pop/rock style.
  19. I'd probably put Diamond Star Halos in the "like" category as for me that one falls in line with Slang, Euphoria and X.
  20. I checked the 90 second samples on I Tunes... I'd say 3-4 tunes that we haven't heard yet grabbed me from the samples....If I Could Fly, Scream, Shot In The Dark and Last Man Alive. I'm guessing Scream might end up being my favorite song from this based upon the samples but we'll see. Definitely not one I'll be purchasing but I could see myself enjoying a handful of tunes from this.
