  1. Never been very much into Extreme outside their few hit tunes but I like that new one. Nice rocking, catchy tune.
  2. This was one of the songs I'd heard played on a Philly radio station awhile back along with What Could've Been and When the Lights Go Down. For me this one doesn't blow me away but still seems like a decent rocker to kick off the album. Although, I think I remember liking the other songs I heard a bit more. Still nice to hear these guys back and I'll definitely check out the album when it drops.
  3. Gangs' All Here would be in the top tier for me along with the debut and STTG.
  4. From Midnite City's FB page: We are super excited to let you know that Grammy award winning producer Chris Laney (Crash Diet, Europe, Crazy Lixx) is currently hard at work mixing our upcoming fourth album 'IN AT THE DEEP END' which will be released via Pride & Joy Music and Marquee Avalon (Japan) in June. Chris is doing an incredible job and we can't wait for you to hear it!
  5. My guess is this has to be about Tramp recovering rights for some of these songs or something by re-recording them and putting them out. Can't see any other reason why somebody would want to bother with this or why somebody would think it's a good idea. I think I'd be surprised if this makes enough money to even cover the costs.
  6. Not too bad and Robin sounds phenomenal but the song feels kind of generic to me. It would be much more appealing to me if it were new MSG. I'll still check the album out though.
  7. It'll be interesting to hear how things sound on this album with Pete Newdeck out of the band. I feel like he was a big part of the backing vocal sound and overall production. I did hear a recent interview with Rob and he said he feels like the album has a fun vibe like the first couple albums so I guess we'll see.
  8. While I didn't love X when it came out, all the songs you mention are great and the album has grown on me over the years. I feel like Kiss The Day should've been on the album all along though. With you on Diamond Star Halos too as for me they at least got back to making an album with some fun, catchy tunes. I do have to say I only consider it an 11 track album though as I refuse to listen to the two Krauss tunes and the 2 piano ballads as to me those songs are just terribly boring and the album just flows way better without those songs getting in the way. That said though, there's a handful of tunes here I do enjoy like Take What You Want, Kick, Fire It Up, SOS Emergency, Gimme A Kiss and Unbreakable which is more than I've found myself digging on the past couple albums. For me, Sparkle only had a few tunes that stuck in my playlist and from the S/T album only Dangerous and Wings of An Angel made my main playlist.
  9. This is really hard and it's probably splitting hairs between most of these put something together quickly off the top of my head. I also wanted to keep my top 10 to one album per artist. 1. Def Leppard - Hysteria2. GNR - Appetite for Destruction3. Warrant - Cherry Pie4. Bon Jovi - Slippery When Wet5. Tesla - Mechancial Resonance6. Motley Crue - Dr. Feelgood7. Poison - Flesh & Blood8. Skid Row - S/T9. Firehouse - S/T10. Dokken - Back for the Attack Next 10 in no particular order, some of which could easily be in my top 10: Bon Jovi - New Jersey Warrant - Dog Eat Dog Poison - Open Up and Say Ahh Tesla - Great Radio Controversy GNR - Use Your Illusion I & II Def Leppard - Adrenalize Poison - Look What The Cat Dragged In Warrant - Dog Eat Dog Dokken - Under Lock & Key Tyketto - Don't Come Easy The next 10 in no particular order which gets me to 30 total: Warrant - DRFSR Wildside - Under The Influence Lynch Mob - Wicked Sensation Judas Priest - Turbo Shotgun Messiah - Second Coming Slaughter - Stick It To Ya Dangerous Toys - Hellacious Acres Firehouse - Hold Your Fire Tesla - Psychotic Supper Trixter- S/T I'm sure I'm forgetting something but the general idea is there.
  10. Exactly where I'm at on this.... The music is outstanding and it sounds like something I should really like but I've totally soured on Strandell's vocals. I don't know what it is exactly...tone, accent....tough to say exactly what bothers me but his vocals almost make me cringe. It's odd because I dug Art Nation when I first heard it but somewhere along the line Strandell's voice started to annoy me. I'll probably still check the album out just for the heck of it but not expecting it to do much for me.
  11. LOL. I really don't see Heaven's Edge trying to do a modern grunge type thing! Have heard 3 songs though and I think it's shaping up to be pretty decent based on what I heard.
  12. Hard to say listening to a radio broadcast through computer speakers. Sounded okay and guess I didn't notice it sounding terrible.
  13. I heard another new song last night...."When The Lights Go Down". Another big thumbs up from me. Both tunes I've heard have sort of been mid-tempo type stuff though so will be interesting to hear how some more up tempo stuff sounds.
  14. Yeah, agree on the radio thing....pretty surprising to hear a band like them on radio at this point under any circumstances. I think they had some long relationship with the DJ from the sounds of it. New tune sounded like Heaven's Edge to me with maybe a current flavor to it in a Defiants sort of way. I think you're right on that Some Other Place. I feel like it was mostly just demos and leftovers from what I remember and wasn't really "new" music. I'd think it would make some sense to revisit that album at some point and maybe re-record and update the production on those songs. Either way, I kind of have fingers crossed for this new album and hoping it's good and that it doesn't turn out to be like Roxy's Blue's comeback album or something lol. I got the chance to chat with Mark Evans a bit when I was on the 2020 Monsters of Rock Cruise and he really was a super-nice guy. I asked him then if we could ever expect a new album from Heaven's Edge and he said they were talking about it, had some songs written and were hoping to make it happen. So it's nice to see it coming to fruition. I think the station that played the song last night might be playing another tonight between 8 and 9 eastern so might try to catch it.
  15. Heard a new Heaven's Edge song called What Could've Been on a Philly radio station tonight. I think they played another song too called Had Enough which was mentioned above but I missed that one. It's a mid-tempo type song. I wasn't quite sure what to expect from these guys but hearing this song has my interest peaked as it sounded very good to me. I think the new album is out in May so I'd expect an official single dropping soon. Had Enough will probably be the first single I'd guess.
  16. I'm with you here. I feel like the majority of the time that covers are just attempts at publicity grabs...especially if you're doing a very well known song. I think in general, the covers I've enjoyed most over the years are covers of songs I wasn't familiar with in the first place. In those cases, I'm good with covers. Or covers can be fun in live settings when your just trying to appeal to the crowd and might not have a big catalog of music. But to me, recording covers of very well known songs just isn't that interesting. I'll usually listen once but never go back to them.
  17. Nice cover but would be way more interesting to me to see them doing some original material together.
  18. Had never paid any attention to this band in the past but gave this album a try after seeing it on some year end lists. Actually, I think I remember hearing the song Down By The River on their last release and thinking it was decent but never really heard anything else by them. Anyways, not too bad of an album. They remind me a bit of Collateral. The definitely have a little bit of southern country-rock flavor to them but they've got a good, catchy sound. Think I'm going to spend some time listening to their back catalog as there's enough I'm digging on this release to check them out a bit more.
  19. Agree on that Halestorm album. The songs are just kinda blah and Lizzy does spend too much time screaming. Lizzy is phenomenal and uber talented. It's a shame they can't come up with some better, catchier tunes while still taking advantage of her vocal talents. All they really need to do IMO is get back to the blueprint of those first couple albums.
  20. Def Leppard. Kinda hard...Trying to be mostly realistic I guess. I mean, I'd love to hear a song like Lady Strange but that's just never happening. Anyways, this feels like a set that could reasonably happen and it would be cool with Stagefright opening while also getting Gods of War and Wasted in the set among all the other songs they generally always play. Stagefright Let It Go Animal Take What You Want Foolin' Armageddon It Love Bites Wasted Gods of War Bringin' on The Heartbreak Rocket Hysteria Rock of Ages Pour Some Sugar On Me Photograph
  21. I'm with you here....Shiraz Lane easy. I really expected that album to challenge for my top album of the year being that I loved Carnival Days and Vibration as well as the other songs they put out as singles. But I found basically nothing else I liked about the album after hearing it. It's hard to say why....Just doesn't have the fun, catchy tunes they had on those previous releases. As for H.E.A.T, I guess it's all about expectations. I was expecting very little as I was not very fond of the first couple albums with Kenny and Erik was the reason I got into the band. But I was actually pleasantly surprised with the album and it's gotten a lot of play for me. I don't like it as much as the Erik albums but still like it plenty.
  22. This might be tops on my list for this. I vividly remember the first time I listened to Slang. I unwrapped that CD and chucked it in my car and couldn't wait to hear a new album from my favorite band. I made it all the way through and put my window down and was darn close to tossing it out my car window. I resisted the urge though. I think I might've given it one or two more plays before parking it on my CD shelf and being irritated that I had waited 4 years for that drivel. Somewhere along the line though my feelings changed on it and I dig it now.
  23. Had not heard of these guys either....I'm digging that tune shared above. I can hear the Danger Danger reference in that song....not sure about the Tesla comparison unless that comes out somewhere else. Either way, I'm gonna check this one out.
  24. You're probably right it's a bad comparison but I guess I just think of the Defiants as more of a project than a band for whatever reason. I suppose it's because they rarely play live although I know they have played a few times.
