  1. Just because it's been almost a decade and a half and I've read so much and have heard famous quotes and such, I finally gave in and watched Fight Club. Pretty much all I've read about it is that it's such a great movie, fantastic acting, superb direction, and a great social commentary on a variety of things, namely not falling in line with what we are programmed to "want". I barely got any of that. The fight scenes were great. Meat Loaf with bitch tits was pretty funny. Helena Bonham-Carter's tits were pretty nice. And even the twist threw me, but I just didn't get all of that other stuff. Between the movie and FFing through commercials, it was 2 1/2 hours plus that felt pretty plodding, at least through the first 90 or more minutes. Anyone else have the same opinion or do you fall in to the "sliced bread" category?
  2. Did anyone else end up getting Butch's bio? It's' been awhile now since I read it, but I thought it was good. I felt there were some periods he glossed over in favor of spending a lot of time on others, but all in all, it was definitely worth the few bucks I shelled out for it. (That said, much as I love "hard copy" books, I wouldn't have minded doing the digital for the Jani essay. I'd say for the songs too, but with what I have heard lately, if there wasn't anything different in there, I don't know that It would have been worth it.)
  3. Anyone see Slash w/ Myles yet? I'm very seriously contemplating a purchase in the next week or so, just to make sure I don't miss out.
  4. ^ Haha, Terry. Apparently you and George Clooney have similar tastes. Just for those of you who don't/won't venture into the GIF Warehouse thread, I thought I'd put up some incentive for you to do so. (And trust me, these stills don't do the gif and accompanying video justice!)
  5. Let me just say how much I hate all of you Australian bastards because of how much closer you are to this stunning beauty than I am: Everyone, please meet Michelle Jenneke, who, if there is any justice in the world, will become my new wife and replace the hurt left by the Michigan-loving witch of an ex, Kate Upton. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=tMgmYutL9W0 (For those of you with sensitive ears, you may want to watch the video with mute on, but I'll be honest, I barely knew there was music there the first time I watched this.)
  6. Keeping up the theme: Danielle Harris
  7. Watched this about a week ago. Last movie I watched was Cop Land, just because I had never seen it before. It wasn't anything earth-shattering, but a real good cast and pretty interesting plot.

  10. I've been taping movies on cable lately and for some reason, the other night I decided to tape Duets, if for no other reason than to see Huey Lewis. That said, it actually kinda enjoyed it. Other than Paul Giamatti's manic character, I liked everyone, particularly Andre Braugher's character. Pretty nice interplay of the stories and all the different lives of the main players.
  11. Not a bad listen; it sounds very encouraging.
  12. Holy shit! When did she turn to soft-core? * Edited to add... HOLY SHIT!
  13. Hey! That's my ex-wife you're posting there! I debated starting a new thread with this one, but then I remembered someone crying about new threads in here and no one talking about music, so I put the stick back and decided not to poke the bear. haha Any child stars that you know of that ended up turning into WILFs? Tami Erin Alexa Vega
  14. Saw this yesterday. Count me as another that looks forward to the movie!
  15. In all seriousness, though, if this movie floats your boat, more power to you. I have no room to criticize; I absolutely adored the stage version of Rock of Ages and it has been bagged on by many people. But between the casting and the fact that the soundtrack (from what I've heard on the commercial) sounds like an abomination of the cast recording, I will undoubtedly abstain. I'm not sure I'll even bother to rent it when it becomes available.
  16. I don't ever remember hearing of this lovely, but I'm certainly glad I did. Sylvie Van Der Vaart
  17. State Line - Butch Walker Can't Live With 'Em - Ted Nugent Amaryllis - Shinedown Stars Falling Down - Kina Grannis Inside of Love - Nada Surf Wild Side - Motley Crue Crucify The Dead - Slash feat. Ozzy Osbourne Man In The Middle - Black Country Communion Bad Girlfriend - Theory of a Deadman Dragging My Heels - The Friendly Indians
  18. ^ I don't believe it is, but I don't know. I refuse to have anything to do with this. I saw Rock of Ages 3 times on Broadway and once on tour. I am definitely guilty of pre-judgment, but from the fact that Tom Cruise and Alec Baldwin are cast in it and that, from the commercials, it sounds like they have ripped apart the sndrk, I want no part of this crap. I understand the Broadway musical isn't for everyone, but if you're a fan of 80's music, between the jokes, stereotypes, awesome stage band, and strong vocal performances, not to mention scantily-clad hot chicks, I absolutely adored it. But, no matter who says what, I don't know that they'll even get me to pay $1 for this fertilizer at Redbox.
  19. You all have good taste. Both Kristen and Mila are among Craig Ferguson's favorite guests on the Late, Late Show. (They've each accompanied the show overseas.) Books

I've thought a few times about picking up Blotz's book; maybe I'm glad I didn't pull the trigger. Black Tooth Grin doesn't sound bad at all; maybe I'll have to replace BB's with it on my list. I loved Duff's book! One of my favorite, if not favorite, rock bio. It inspired me to go back and read Slash's book, for comparison of events. (I'm about 2/3 of the way through.) I wonder if anyone has created a time line and compared events from Duff, Slash, and Steven's POV/stories. Think that would be VERY interesting.
  21. It's not like I keep up with the times or anything, but last night I saw 3:10 To Yuma and, as much as I thought I'd hate it because Russell Crowe was in it, I have to say, I thought it was a pretty damn good movie, if not a bit formulaic. To boil it down, it's a gritty Western-type movie with a build to a thumbs-up conclusion, altlhough it's not an everything worked out fine ending.

  23. I'm surprised I'm posting this, but last night I watched a movie called Apocalypto, from Mel Gibson. I won't even pretend to understand all the nuances, but for a film with no English and subtitles, with a run time over 2 hours, and having the name Mel Gibson attached to it, I was very engaged throught. It's about an ancient Mayan kingdom, their kidnap, and one man's struggle to return to a life of peace. I don't post often here and for me to give a glowing recommendation, it had to be a bit hit with me. I wouldn't describe it as an arthouse flick, but definitely artsy, graphic (in good and I'm sure bad, to some, in ways), and visually stimulating. I would watch it again in a heartbeat, just to pick up some things I missed/didn't comprehend the first time.
