  1. Good onya mate Love to hear ones honest thoughts than someone who feels they just have to join the flock and hence the reason I take onboard your opinions I dont really think anyone on this board 'joins a flock'....I sure as hell dont. I just really love this album. All down to personal taste at the end of the day. Yeah I agree, I don't think it has anything to do with 'joining the flock', it's just that some people really dig this album and some don't. Aside from Andrew giving this a 100% rating, I don't think its been over hyped. I'd give the album 90%, probably slightly less but I still love it and it will definately be in my top 5 for 2009.
  2. Nice bunch of concerts there. 1986 must have been a fun year for you!
  3. Has anyone purchased any of the first 3 Lynn Allen albums from their website? I'm just wondering if they're good quality pressings or cheap/dodgy re-prints. I E-mailed the band months ago asking if they were silver pressed CD's but never got a reply. The only Lynn Allen album I own is Petrified Ice Cream, I haven't heard anything else from them. What's the collector's boxed set like? Worth geting?
  4. 'Air It Out' truely kicks ass! One of my top 10 songs for the year!
  5. I saw a news item over at MR.com about the new Sacred Heart album. What they're planning on doing is making it so the bonus tracks are only available on the CD, and not made available for digital download. Of course this won't matter as everything ends up being pirated on a blog somewhere anyway, but I do really like the idea of rewarding the fans who still buy physical CD's. The latest Daughtry CD was an interesting example of this not happening, where there were 7 bonus tracks which were available as digital download only, meaning those of us who forked out $20 to buy the album as new, would then have to to fork out more $'s to get the bonus tracks.
  6. Ok so I've looked a bit harder and found a small amount of info. These 4 tracks were released this year by Music Valley Records and are available as digital downloads only from various on-line locations including i-Tunes. Whilst they were released in 2009, these songs are almost certainly much older, sounding like typical late 80's Melodic Hard Rock songs. The artwork above would support this assumption as well. I'd still like to know who the heck these guys are, where they're from and did they ever release anything?
  7. Wow Jez, that is one of the best gig lists I've ever seen.
  8. The songs I have are: 1. Show Me The Way 2. I Will Only Survive 3. Never Let Me Down 4. Lonely
  9. Does anyone have any info on this band. I have 4 songs in MP3 format and aside from them being demo quality, they are quite good Melodic Hard Rock songs.
  10. Maybe Dolls are an Aussie Rock band from the early 90's who released an awesome album called Propaganda in 1991. In my books they are extremely under-rated and their name never pops up in discussions about Aussie Rock bands. They remind me a lot of Concrete Blonde, especially their Bloodletting album. Highly recommended for fans of Concrete Blonde or any female fronted Aussie Rock. Here's a YouTube video of track 2 from the Propaganda album, .
  11. Yeah because most of the other 80s hair bands dont have cliche cheesy lyrics. Name your top 5 favorite bands. Would love to know so we can see just how amazing the lyrics in those bands might be. Sorry but the cheesy lyric argument is dumb. All the 80s hair bands had cheesy lyrics. Are you saying because Steel Panther is more blunt it makes it worse? I mean cmon Whoooaa hey hey hey fuck all night and party all day....is that really any cheesier than Slaughter singing Up all night, sleep all day? LOL whatever. Wow, you must really be passionate about this band to get so upset over my opinion. People speak rubbish about bands I listen to all the time and it doesn't bother me one iota. You're right though, all the 80's "hair bands" had some cheesy lyrics. But as you said, Steel Panther phrase things in a more blunt way than many which is what I think puts me and many others off this band. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate the band, and I'd probably go and see them if they toured here, but I tired of listening to the CD very quickly and I have to put it down to me not liking the lyrics. I'm not pretending I don't listen to bands with cheesy lyrics, hell, my favourite band is Whitesnake - plenty of cheesy lyrics there, but plain and simply - I don't like the lyrics on the Steel Panther disc. And I don't have to. Just my opinion though, no need to get upset mate. Chill.
  12. When I think of Britney I think of those completely stupid skanks from the movie Clueless.
  13. Cool, I might try and pick this up when it comes out.
  14. I've held back on commenting on this band so far. Whilst there is no denying many of these songs are catchy as hell, I'm in with the group of people that are put off by the ultra cheesy lyrics.
  15. Tesla have had a pretty good run, though only 6 original studio albums in 23 years is not a huge output. I would agree with Harem Scarem having one of the most consistently good discographies around as well.
  16. Has anyone heard this? I'm interested to know what it's like... Timothy Dury - S/T (1996) Westcoast Records West CD8 1. Right Kind Of Love 3:54 2. Can't Help Ourselves 5:30 3. I Know You 4:42 4. Kiss You Like This 4:37 5. I'll Set You Free 3:49 6. What We Can't Have 5:10 7. Wishful Thinking 4:24 8. State Of Grace 4:10 9. Can't Think Straight 4:59 10. I Know I'm In Heaven 5:02 11. Leap Of Faith 5:16
  17. How many of those Red Hot Rockets w/ panties singles were made?? Are they worth much?
  18. Thanks for the info Dave. After more plays of this album, I'd have to agree that it's not anything special but there are two, maybe three really nice songs on here. I tend to get a little excited when I discover new Aussie AOR/Hard Rock bands, especially those from the late 80's/early 90's era. BTW, I sent you a PM regarding that extra track. IMO, I think Tyrone Coates had a great rock voice and probably the best in the country and also would have been very well suited to front some of the big name overseas bands at the time. His talents were wasted being in Australia and he was regarded as a relative unknown outside of this country. "Is That The Way To Say Goodbye" was another very good track. This band had plenty of potential but it was not to be and that was a shame. Extra track just sent to you Justin Thanks for helping out Dave!!
  19. Does anyone know if the Snail, Clocks and Window albums are worth geting?

    Panik

Yeah I picked this one up for cheap some time ago. To be honest I can't really re-call the sound but don't think I was all that interested. Shit album covers always put me off. Will check it out again soon.
  21. Yeah that's why I didn't reply too, the CD Baby samples don't work. But I've now heard the samples on Amazon and I am impressed. And yeah the vocals do sound like a chick, very much so, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
  22. Real nice! Not a day goes by where I'm not introduced to a new band by someone on this forum. I think talking about them in the Hard Rock section is more than appropriate Geoff.
  23. Very nice song! I like it! I found a bit of info over at AOR FM about this band. They released a single album called 'No More Jinx' in 1986 on Chrysalis. The song 'Fire With Fire' was used on the OST of a movie of the same name that I now want to see. The singers name is Rene Varo and she was previously in a band called 'Jinx' and later in 2008 joined a group called 'Love Kill Me'. Other band members were from the bands Device, Trillion and Maxus. AND the CD was re-issues this year on Renaissance Records and can be purchased here on E-Bay for $7.99 + postage. Seems like they have an abundance of copies.
