Well I guess it's good for you that they now have a new singer. I really like Mark's voice a lot but the first time I heard him i didn't know what to think but after repeated listens I loved it. Yeah the vocals are a bit of an acquired taste. I really dont mind Mark's vocals but I'll be interested to see how the new guys sounds on these songs at Firefest.

In fact the only track I wasn't sold on was Live For Today and that is pretty cool too albeit a bit long - a real enuff z nuff dreamy vibe in the chorus. A minute too long tho.

Also how f wicked is 'Say It With Love' ?! I love that tune!!

Wow think my rating will be higher than that - second spin now & this is pretty classic stuff! First 3 all great then the guitars in Follow Your Heart are classic Night Ranger. Time of our lives is very good ballad - chorus is spot on & solo killer. No time to lose ya is another great rocker! Love it. End of the day is just a killer rocker! Only one or two fillers for me. This is definitely gonna rate high up for me.

Backed - I also prefer 'Karma' - awesome album!!

When you say killer voice, you mean as in it will kill you because of how terrible it is? Sorry mate, can't comment on the disc because I've not heard it, but this is the dude from Pearl Jam, amirite? Isn't that voice similar to conscious penis carving? My first spins: Stryper - 'The covering' ; I was very critical about this release prior to it hitting the shelves, as I am with any release full of cover songs. So, was it justified, after snagging a cheap copy of the disc? Yeah, it was because any day of any week in any year I'd have preferred new and original songs. But for a covers CD, yeah, I've heard worse. The good thing about this is that Stryper always sound so awesome musically. And for that reason, I can appreciate what they bring to these otherwise pretty rubbishy songs. There were a couple of decent songs like 'Carry on wayward son' and 'Immigrant song,' but otherwise, like every other covers CD by a band like this, the rest of this stuff is far inferior to a lot of their original material. Musically, another excellent one from Stryper. Song-wise... yeah, it's a covers CD. Mm questionable. If my memory serves me correctly the best song by far on their last full release was a cover number!! Lol

I'm not even going to attempt this - I'll just leave it as great band and I love (nearly) all of em!! Cheers!!

As you say it all depends on the reason you are rating an album......if I didnt visit this site every day, where every album is discussed and debated at length I probably wouldn't 'rate' anything...just listen and enjoy (or not as the case may be). However I would guess that there is an expectation for any professional reviewer / journalist to rank albums in any one given year - for example I know that Andrew does his melodic rock awards thingy - and so if loads of albums have a 10/10 rating for liking all the songs and being able to sing along, that wouldnt be much use......... Same on here - everyone likes to do their 'lists', so you need to be able to rank them somehow....on this basis I would already have about 4 or 5 10/10 releases!! But I do respect what you say.

the classic 'this is my best record yet' quote......we all know that wont be true. Still looking forward to hearing this tho.

Fair enough - personally I've never heard a rock song I would rate 0/10. The point I was trying to make to Tim is that none of the songs on Planet 3 are worth zero. I'm happy with the way I rate albums - IMO it's a fair way to rate albums and certainly last year it was only way I could separate some albums. Not that rating albums is that important to me but it is interesting at the end of the day. Cheers Have you ever heard some of those dance type remixes that Warrant and Ratt did on Latest & Greatest and Collage? I'd rate those 0 for sure or maybe even -1 if I could. Well for me The Birdie Song is 0/10, and every rock song Ive heard is better than that so I rest my case ;-) As for Warrant....I can understand people comparing it to Cherry Pie will be disappointed, but then Cherry Pie is an awesome slab of melodic hard rock and to be fair most things pale against the song writing and sheer energy of that album. Rockaholic as an album written and played in 2011 is a pretty good effort in my book. Granted there are a few fillers, but there are also some very good songs and as said previously Mason sounds great - cant wait to see them at Firefest - should be a blast! Cheers
