  1. f excellent album.......how brilliant is 'Love Is Standing Near', & 'I Know Tonight'........timeless stuff.
  2. Awesome Jap bonus track from the debut. Man, this is a KILLER band!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UwSHwVNu1ts
  3. one of the shittiest live bands ive seen in a long time. Were a complete disappointment for me........Vega destroyed them at the borderline, and Houston were bloody headlining.
  4. Holy shit!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t09iO-7qJ2A
  5. @ Faron. We were stood a bit further back - great view & as you say a very intimate venue. Shame I didn't realise you were going otherwise we could have met!! Glad you mentioned LA No Name - that was awesome eh!! I usually disappear for a piss during instrumentals but not that one! Inspired. I just hope they realise what a strong fan base they have here and get their arses back for 2012! @ Tim Yeah I would have loved Restless Kind, but the rest was so awesome you had to let them off really. Sentimental Street & Four In The Morning was bowdown time!! Lol
  6. Well 26 years in the waiting and I have to say that this was one amazing gig! The band were delayed for 7 hours in customs, but Airrace greacefully agreed to reduce their set so that Night Ranger could still fit in the full hour 45 mins. Great venue, full house, excellent sound (the twin guitars were particularly awesome!), Jack in great form both vocally & banta. Set - 1.Rock N' Roll Tonite 2.Touch of Madness 3.Sing Me Away 4.Growin' Up In California 5.The Secret of My Success 6.Keyboard solo 7.Sentimental Street 8.Eddie's Comin' Out Tonight 9.L.A. No Name (instr Jap bonus on the newie - stunning live!!) 10.Goodbye 11.Lay It On Me 12.Coming of Age (Damn Yankees cover) 13.Four in the Morning 14.When You Close Your Eyes 15.Don't Tell Me You Love Me Encore: 16.No Time To Lose Ya 17.Sister Christian 18.(You Can Still) Rock in America I have to say that last 6 songs were all stunning, perfectly played.....all truly classic. The new song 'No Time To Lose Ya' fitted in perfectly in the middle as well, such is the quality of the tunes on the new album. 'When You Close Your Eyes'....was one of 'those' moments. One of the best songs I have heard at a gig ever! In fact 13-14-15 was just sheer bliss. 3 of my fav Night Ranger (in fact fav songs full stop) in succession. My one question (and I knew this was gonna happen) is that band continue to ignore the Man In Motion album??! I know they have a lot of classic songs in their set, but MIN is an awesome slab of melodic rock and overlooking it is wrong IMO. Add say 'Restless Kind' and 'Dont Start Thinking' and you would have had the perfect set. That said, with the reaction they got, I just hope that they make it back to these shores real soon. Cheers
  7. I'm just messin'. I've never heard any Slaughter other than the disc that has that "Up All Night, Sleep All Day" thing on it. You know, the album where presumably the vocalist didn't show-up for the recordings so they had to drag a domestic cat in off the streets so they could repeatedly stamp on it and pretend it was Mark Slaughter singing? I personally hate them, but I respect that lots of people love them and I secretly quite enjoy winding people up by throwing in a few comments. Is all in jest... Nb: "In My Veins" is NOT the best song on "Pull" by any means. All the first 3 songs are way better. I do think some of the tunes on the second-half are a touch samey (like "In for the Kill" and "No Man's Land") but there's no obvious filler. "Who's the One" is a stunning way to close too IMO, great vocals... Ha, we all like different songs eh??! Look, I like the first 3 tracks as well.....think I stated earlier that the first 4 are my favs, but I still don't think any of those songs are as good as the best on Karma. All down to personal taste I guess. What is true tho is that Kip sounds a mile better on Pull, but then that's hardly surprising eh??
  8. AFAIK, none of the Jim's ( Jamison & Peterik ) are involved in any way with Toby's album. That said, the next Jimi Jamison album will be another Erik Martensen masterpeice, he's working on the songs as I'm writing this I guess. I guess Jimi's solo album should be out in 2012. yup i heard about it, if we're lucky, Jimi's album could be out by the end of this year, just like Vega did a suprise last year Wasnt a surprise for me mate, I plugged that album for months before it was released.
  9. Completely agree with your song choices, and actually this sounded better after a couple of extra spins last night. "This Song Saved My Life" might actually be the best thing they've ever done, and "Jet Lag" is awesome too. This is as much boyband material as most of the other lighter modern rock stuff that get's talked about on these pages, it's just that Simple Plan do this stuff better than most others IMO. The vocals are better, they have less of a punk-influence and therefore have more mid-tempo melodic songs. Plus their ballads are always great. A step-down from the last album, but that says more about how great that last album was, but this is still excellent IMO. Yeah, to their credit I keep spinning this one, and I am absolutely loving those five songs. 'Freaking me out,' Astronaut' and 'Loser of the year' really aren't bad at all either. In fact, the only complete disaster, must-skip piece of shit is 'Summer Paradise.' Yeah "Summer Paradise" is horseshit. "Astronaut" is a good tune, and the other two are just standard/immature pop/punk songs like SUM41 or someone would do. More than enough great modern rock tunes on here to make it worthwhile though. OK I'll see if its on Spotify yet...........
  10. Is your copy of 'Pull' missing 'Junkyard Dog,' 'Spell I'm under' and 'No man's land?' ha ha, not even close mate. 'In My Veins' is the best song on Pull, and even that pales against a song like 'Witness'. IMO of course.
  11. I like that song, but for some reason it does ittitate me slightly. Doesnt 'quite' fit with the classiness of the rest of the album......or am i being too harsh?? mine : No Time To Lose Ya - Night Ranger & Love Is Standing Near - Night Ranger [a total classic!]
  12. This site is the Oracle no doubt. The most comprehensive and awesome database I have ever seen. Also, I would add that this is the best community on the web.....chat is always engaging, constructive, informative and above all fun. Great site.....well done guys!
  13. Is that one worth getting? The soundbytes were pretty damn good.... Definitely - One of the better AOR discs you will hear this year. Backed....think you'll dig this. Some nice West Coast, and great melodies. Think Work Of Art will be much better, but this is a keeper. np Night Ranger - 1984 live bootleg Night Ranger - Big Life
  14. Lovin' the new Night Ranger. Agreee about the guitars, really kickin' with some great solos. An album I will be spinning alot. But i definitely dont agree about 'Follow Your Heart' - filler??! I friggin love that song, and possibly the most classic Night Ranger guitar exchange I have ever heard. Just magic in my book. Also I would add 'Bye Bye' and in particular 'Say It With Love' to the great track list. Lastly, whilst 'Lay It On Me' isnt my fav track, man that song kicks my arse. Major riff and attitude. Night Ranger firmly back on the map!
  15. Backed - I also prefer 'Karma' - awesome album!! I thought In the Heart of the Young had some of the all-time best Winger tunes, but it also had some total dross (most of the tracks towards the end, except the title-track) so would rate about 80% for me. "Karma" is about 80% too as it doesn't quite have the standout tunes of their first 3 albums, even if it's more consistent. "Pull" isn't totally flawless but it is where they really found their sound IMO and left behind the cheesier-sounding first two discs and the soppy ballads. Plus it was easily their best produced disc and sounds stunning to this day. I'd rate it about 95%. If this were a page I'd write the prologue and epilogue and then give you a high five and say we're on the same page. Because, yeah, that's pretty much where I'm at too. Love the first two albums, but 'Pull' was clearly in a different league to them in every way imaginable. Just lyrically alone it was a whole new beast, before you even get into how much more immense it sounded both musically and production-wise. I'm also a huge fan of 'Karma,' to the point where I probably just slightly prefer it to the first two... for, like Tim says, it's consistency. My favourite tracks on 'Pull' are definitely the first 4....some in the second half do tend to drag a little for my liking. As I said on numerous occasions there's nothing on Pull to compare to the brilliance of songs like 'Pull Me Under', 'Always Within Me' or 'Witness' from Karma......those songs are just genius IMO, and turned me back onto Winger after I lost all faith in them after their APPALLING performance at Firefest.
  16. I love it....brilliant album. Pretty good variation in track as well. & a good flow to the album me thinks.
  17. I read the title of this thread and thought, wow, somehow Simple Plan have managed to top their excellent last release..............but sadly no, its a bump of the thread about their last release lol! From the couple of samples ive heard this sounds awful....real boy band type stuff....correct me if im wrong :-(
  18. Never heard of any of them..... And probably for good reason ;-)
  19. Outloud - Love Catastrophe [this album is f excellent!]
  20. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wp5p45t735A
  21. Predators Pointless sequel.......pretty much just a re-hash of the first film, but worse....a lot worse. How To Train Your Dragon Pretty cool I guess, and my 4 year old loved it. Not much here for adults but its worth watching with yr kids.
  22. me too...........only on 4th spin and its a great one. See Jack Blades has pulled his hamstring and will be on a stool for the rest of the tour, but it will still be cool to see them live!
  23. Backed the guitars in that song is everything I love about Night Ranger!! The ballad which follows it is great too!! V cool release!
  24. Check out these bad boys.............. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qxFjHHmGXo8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4MILirJinc
