  1. If you go on the US Store on itunes they have 1 min 30 samples of all songs. Really hearing the classic Night Ranger sound coming through on these songs. One or 2 clunkers, but on the most part sounds really promising. 'End Of The Day' sounded a real stand out to me. Cheers

    Journey

The new songs were excellent live last night at Wembley. They played 'City Of Hope', 'Chain Of Love', 'Resonate' and 'Edge Of The Moment'. 'Edge Of The Moment' was totally awesome....made some of the old hits sound like 'bubble gum pop'. I think some of these songs need to be heard live, cos they were so atmospheric and Schon's playing was just out of this world.
  3. Cool, August is shaping up to be a killer month.
  4. Listened to this album today and all the songs are great, but man does that album end on a high. 'Rise' is just fantastic IMO. Melodic perfection.
  5. Terry Brock - Diamond Blue Journey - Eclipse Ted Poley - Collateral Damage
  6. Very similar in terms of greatness and awesomeness, I agree, but very different in style. The debut is definitely more for the skirt wearers (like James) whereas the 2nd one is a bit more beefy, for the dudes amongst us. Haha, kidding James (or am I?). I love both albums immensely, and both would rate over 90%, but I definitely prefer 'Screw It!' Nothing to do with heaviness, for me it's all about the songwriting. The debut is full of great tunes that stand up to repeated plays. The second album is full of really basic tunes, with very little originality and I found the songs got very boring very quickly. I just don't get what is good about the songs on 'Screw It', it was a massive disappointment to me at the time and I wouldn't listen to it now. Comparing the rockier songs to 'Bang Bang' or 'Saturday Nite' shows a huge gulf in class. And a lighter track like 'I Still Think About You' is terrible in comparison to the awesome 'Under The Gun'. Yeah 'skirt wearers' is an odd comment, when you have songs like 'Naughty Naughty', 'Boys Will Be Boys' etc on the debut. About as far removed from that comment as you can actually get. I think it might be a production thing, as the production on the debut is a little thin, BUT the fact remains that in the live environment songs like 'Under The Gun', 'Naughty Naughty', 'Bang Bang', 'Boys Will Be Boys', 'Rock America' absolutely smoke anything on Screw It. Sorry but its true. & that is coming from someone who loves songs like 'Beat The Bullet' etc. Oh and for the record 'One Step From Paradise' > any ballad on Screw it (by a country mile) Cheers
  7. I can't agree on the first two as they rock big time. I hate Yeah you Want It and skip it every time. I am also not a big instrumental fan but I love Andy's solo on there. Backed, I'd take Slipped & Horny SOB over the 2 decent but slightly average 'Comin Home' and 'Find Your Way Back Home'. Having said that I think everyone will be agreement with 'Yeah, You Want It'.........one of the biggest steaming pieces of shit Ive ever heard. Mind you Ted redeemed himself with the lead off track on 'Collateral' ;-) Id probably give 'Screw It' about 85%. Still rate the debut a little higher.
  8. youve just decided my listening for tomorrow....2 monster albums mate. Cheers
  9. Yeah and also 2 or 3 years back, Kiss appeared in the final singing with Adam Lambert. Adam Lambert absolutely pissed on Paul Stanley..........it was quite embarrassing really. They also regularly feature Daughtry and David Cook....both class modern rock acts (and of course products of US Idol). Cheers
  10. Icon - Right Between The Eyes Adelitas Way - s/t Dynazty - Knock You Down

    Porn?

Sorry was there a youtube video there? I was too busy watching hsf's signature.............
  12. Here are some alternative samples which give slightly different parts of the songs...... http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Ddigital-music&field-keywords=adelitas+way+-+home+school
  13. Las Vegas' own Adelitas Way's sophomore release Home School Valedictorian defines and hones in on the quartet's sound. Front man Rick DeJesus explains "We set the bar so high on this record; we really tried to outdo ourselves". The 11-track album definitely achieves the type of "next level" sound the band strived for. Singles "Sick", "The Collapse" and "I Wanna Be" are loaded with heavy guitar riffs layered under the intense unrivaled sound of DeJesus' lead vocals Here is a taste of the album....sounds to me like the band have stepped up the melody, and more promisingly there doesnt seem to be any fillers this time round, just great sounding modern rock tracks. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xaL5qDVGNA
  14. I havent heard the s/t, but am certainly liking the new album 'Code Of Honour'. As previously mentioned Vincent's vocals are very reminiscent of Dokken and certainly some of this album (whilst not as good) reminds me of his solo album 'Up From The Ashes'. This to me is just a very good straight ahead hard rock album with some decent hooks and some excellent musicianship / solos. Some songs will right royally kick your butt. Well worth checking out. Cheers
  15. I havent even seen part 1 yet :-( Iron Man 2 [not as good as the first one, but I do like RDJ so it was well watchable]

    Journey

She's a mystery is the weak link for me.....would have preferred it to stay acoustic cos it a real good vibe....too long. Human Feel I love, but the radio edit is better....last 2 mins is unnecessary IMO. LOVE 'To Whom'...........perfect ballad IMO.
  17. Stealing Eden - Trust In Tregedy Legion - Code Of Honour
  18. I feel your pain, but I always try to spend at least one day a week listening to older stuff...whether it be from a couple of years back or older 80s/90s stuff. Most of it is just too good to ignore completely and often makes you realise just how weak some of the newer releases are. Last week for example I pulled out these releases for a quick spin, and Im damned glad I did too - Jeff Scott Soto - Lost In The Translation Journey - Revelation Night Ranger - Man In Motion & Dawn Patrol Khymera - The Greatest Wonder Unruly Child - s/t
  19. Fairly easy for me - 'Dont Break My Heart Again' Not my fav D2 song, but still excellent all the same.
  20. But you could claim that of every band that anyone on here says are overrated or shit, whether it be Journey, Poison, Bon Jovi, Nickleback or whoever is currently under the microscope. To Geoff and many people they are overrated, so by the same definition you cant claim them to not be overrated if many people hate them with what they think is good reason. As you say, its all a matter of taste, but I do agree with Geoff that reviewers will often overlook flaws in an album if they are particular fans of a band. While I will be the first person to say a song by Motley Crue isnt up to snuff, at the same time I will probably give them more leeway than I would with another band, just purely because they are one of my favourite bands. Yes, a turd is a turd, but I think diehard fans tend to be a bit more generous with bands they like, sometimes convincing themselves that a mediocre or good song is better than it is. Yeah OK, I guess to a person who doesnt like a certain band then yeah, by definition to them the band is overrated. I cant vouch for Andrew, but I would hope that most reviewers are honest and fair in the summation of an album no matter what the band is. There is no way I would give favour to a band I like. As you say a turd is a turd and I would rightly comment on that on this board. In terms of the 100% rating that Andrew gave to the last Journey album, I genuinely feel that he truly loves that album.....its as simple as that. I mean can he really claim to be that close to the band after the falling out they had over the JSS affair?? I dont think so?? Cheers Not to stray off topic here, but when you say "they" do you mena Andrew & Journey? What's the story with that? I remember when it was announced that JSS was the new singer, then all of a sudden he wasn't. I'd love to know the story behind that. I even read somewhere that Soto was given some hush money to keep quiet on what went down. Well purely based on what ive read (and of course the real truth may never come out), I believe that Andrew was fairly instrumental in hooking up JSS with Journey in their hour of need (ie mid tour with a singer past his best and huge allegations of miming/click tape use). So when they dumped him post tour and before the revelation album I guess that put a strain on any possible relationship.
  21. Yeah Im definitely waiting for the physical release..........apparently in the works according to the band. As soon as I have more info I'll post the same. Cheers

  23. Definitely not as good as Destrophy but then nothing in the modern bracket is gonna touch an album like that this year.....but there are at least 5 or 6 cracking songs on this (& a few fillers).......just really good, passionate modern rock.
  24. I think sometimes albums like this (and Journey) get an automatic 90% headstart based on name alone and then all they need to do is put in 10% effort and people will love it. Generally I agree with you but that statement is bollocks. It just depends on your taste. I personally really like quite a bit of the Toto back catalogue, but I do struggle with this album, but then I know people who absolutely love it. Easy as that. i,ve would never give an album a headstart in rating on name alone. Also there have definitely been Journey albums which I didnt rate.....Trial By Fire is weakest Perry album by a long shot. Generations was generally (part from about 4 songs) pretty weak, and even the second half of Frontiers I dont rate that highly even though many Journey fans claim that to be their best album. Clearly Toto and Journey are not your fav style never have been, but then you cant claim them to be 'overrated' cos many love them and with good reason. Cheers
