  1. don't you get to the point where you think that's it's better to buy 2 cds for $15 each that you know are keepers as opposed to 10 cds for $3 each and then end up not liking half of them...? comes down to quantity over quality. personally i'd rather had 2 good cds than 5 shit and 5 ok cds... i sometimes pick up these sorts of bargains if i stumble across them, but otherwise i try to only pick up those i know are keepers, rather than seeking out unknown bargains and end up taking way too many gambles. there's too many good discs out there to waste too much money and time on. Yeah backed....maybe its the problem of feeling you have to 'hear' everything ?? I got over that years ago.....now I go on recommendation of people whos musical taste I trust, plus pre-listening - either you tube / spotify etc. I reckon I end up buying around 25-30 albums a year and theyre all keepers.
  2. What about Edens Curse, Outloud, Dynazty etc - they all kill that Robin Beck disc. Lionville is an excellent album as well IMO - just gets better the more you listen to it. But as Tim says I doubt it will be in my top 10 come year end......just too much class stuff to come. i'm afraid Eden's Curse is still stuck around > #25 friend but Outloud and Dynazty are currently rotating in my top 20, and yesterday, i listen to Moratti's Victory for the 4th times, I'll say it's getting better, I guess Tim needs to give it more spins. I've played that Moratti disc about 3 or 4 times now, and it will never be played again for as long as I live. Albums like that are why I got into more modern music in the first place, because there was too much crap coming out of the melodic rock genre. Like I've always said, if you can't make an album that's at least as good - if not better - than the stuff from the 80's/90's then don't bother. But it is my friend - youre the only one who cant hear it lol !! Virtually everyone else I know whos heard it, loves it. Go figure.
  3. Lol & Robin Beck doesn't sound dated!! I love the Edens Curse - it's an awesome slab of melodic metal IMO. & it sounds pretty much nothing like Symphony X at all!

  6. Yeah pretty generic but great all the same! 'Come On' is awesome!
  7. Just been chatting to Erik Heikne (Miss Behaviour)....and they will be back in the UK in October and a London date is scheduled. Marvellous.
  8. Sorry definitely no WET this year. Richard Mace is a friend on my facebook - he does all the artwork & he's heard diddly squat on the WET front - anyhow EM is tied up writing for the new Jimi Jamison solo album. Re Vega - all ready to go by the sound of it but I reckon it will be 2012 - I bet we'll get acouple of new songs at Firefest though. Cheers
  9. Jesus, if this ends up being better than Night Ranger, Farcry, Edens Curse, Work of Art etc etc then I'll be the first to admit how wrong I was. But it won't be. In fact, I expect the band are busy working with groups of 14 year-old schoolboys helping them to come up with some new chorus-lines just as I write this... I think that Steel Panthers newie will be good, whether it will be better than the debut remains to be seen. But I agree with you that it will have to be pretty awesome to top some of the releases so far this year. Whats more I strongly believe that most of my potential top 10 for 2011 is still to come - high hopes on WOA, HEAT, Hitchcock, Strangeways, Reckless Love, Mecca, HOL....and I must admit that 'The Magnificent' sounded pretty awesome too.
  10. from what ive read there are NO ballads. Which is just fine by me....... And the second half of the album is supposed to be some pretty rocky stuff. Much heavier than Pride of Lions.
  11. I heard the whole of 'the Great Fall' - excellent, with a killer solo....... and the whole of 'The Rain' and 'Once' on Spanish internet radio - a guy i know did an MP3 rip of it for me....both excellent as well. Very excited about this - only a month to go.
  12. P.O.L are not done yet AFAIK, seems there'll be some gigs for the band in 2012 & hopefully a new album. Yeah should be a new POL album next year - hope its back to the debut and not as cheesy as the last one. As for this solo album, from what ive read of people that have heard the whole thing, its supposed to be pretty stunning - much more WET than POL. Expectations are high.....very high.
  13. Album will be released beginning of October 2011.
  14. you see thats where we differ cos Critter to me just sounds like a continuation of the first album....just great straight ahead melodic rock with some great riffs and melodies.
  15. I think the last one was used on WWE...
